Have had 30 years experience with UHC-Optum. They are a highly controlled, controlling “managed care” corporation. Translation: they are a highly efficient, corporate controller of what they consider *their* money. Money from premiums is theirs, not the patient’s, certainly not the physician’s. Give them this kind of power and their MA patients [ka-ching] will know limitations on care, mandated and long in coming pre-authorizations, and co-pays that do nothing but go up every year. Senator Warren is right to sound the alarm. Governor Healy, please listen. Channel 5, you’d do well to go deeper into this story. Jennifer Eagan, there is much public information available on this nationwide, public corporation. How about starting with salaries of their top execs? See Forbes, etc.

They own Atrius too. Seems like Optum would control a lot of Massachusetts
