I read that Getrag makes it (under license) in China. It's what separates the GT from the Camaro SS which gets the Tremec trans.
If you want a Mustang with a Tremec, you have to get the Mach 1.

    • @GoGoggansGo
      @GoGoggansGo 2 года назад +2

MT82 has always been an issue with the mustang since it came out for the 2011 mustang GT “aka first year of the coyote”
Ford over spent on coyote development thus didn’t have enough left over to go out and buy an off the shelf 6 speed manual trans. So they worked with getrag, and made them in China. It was a disaster at launch, clutch bolts backing out, clutches splitting in half, 1,3,5 gears exploding, input shaft failures. Basically for a good two years it was 100 percent luck of the draw if you got a good trans. The other issue was the driver, if you knew who to drive you definitely had a better experience because the MT82s couldn’t handle any form of abuse. Then in 2015 ford did some major internal changes to help with reliability, it helped and you started seeing less and less lemons. In 2018 for the gEN 3 car, they completely redesigned the trans again trying to fix any other bugs but unfortunately ending up causing more issues, they went too a duel mass flywheel and clutch, it was a mess alot of clutch failures but by 2019 they got a lot of the issues fixed
The point is this if you’re looking at a used coyote mt82 mustang i recommended you swap out the stock clutch asap, do some of the cheap reliability mods or just swap it out for an T56 and call it a day
There is a reason why the GT350 didn’t get it lmfao

Please be aware of two things: 1) Lemon laws can vary significantly from state to state. 2) Even if you have a legit lemon, it can take many months to get through the legal bureaucracy of it all. A good lawyer will understand the bureaucracy and probably speed it up significantly, but don't expect to call a lawyer on Friday afternoon and get a new car on Monday.

I was watching another RUclips mechanic channel and some European guy, I think he's German, but his English is very good, had a car brought to him. Just had a new turbocharger fitted and in the drive home (from neighbouring country just a few hundred km away) the brand new turbocharger was again worn out, ruined. He checked the oil feed pipe and it was clogged. Little if any oil getting through. He mad the point that the stupid thing about it, was that the new turbo kit as provided for that model of car ALWAYS comes with a brand new oil feed pipe, for the very reason, to ensure that the old pipe might well be clogged up. If I remember, in that case the car owner was NOT able to get any comeback from the first mechanic so had to eat the full cost. Sorry I cannot remember the name of that particular European car mechanic channel. (Clarification, the mechanic is based in Europe ! I have tried looking for that original video but cannot even find the name of his channel. American based European car mechanic RUclips channels fill up all the searches. I think the car was a VW but not sure. )

If your case is well documented, you should not need an attorney. I had a 2018 Jeep, engine blew with under 10k miles due to defect in the block. FCA was unable to source a replacement engine in the 30 day timeframe. Original offer from FCA was to cover all expenses (There were none ... dealer provided me a loaner car), and $1000 for my trouble. I declined the offer, requested arbitration as per my sales contract, and after about 60 days (most of which was haggling over an aftermarket warranty), I won a full buyback. Honestly, if it were not for the issue of the warranty, it would have been simple.

A guy here locally in South Arkansas bought what proved to be a troublesome ‘97-‘98 Chevrolet Silverado Z-71 Extended Cab pickup. After going back and fourth with the dealer for over a year, the truck never was repaired properly. The dealer washed their hands of the truck and refused to perform anymore work on it. Instead of taking the dealer to court, the well-off owner of the truck bought the land next door to the dealership, built a giant ramp to elevate the truck beside the road, applied giant lemon decals all over it, and constructed a billboard overhead that read “WANT MILK, BUY A COW, WANT LEMONADE, BUY A SILVERADO FROM SUCH-N-SUCH CHEVROLET! It sat there for years. Eventually the dealer went out of business.

I bought a 2013 Ram 1500 with a 5.7 Hemi. I bought it used with somewhere around 30k miles. Had it for about 2 1/2 years, one day coming home from Alabama back into Florida , as soon as we entered Florida check engine light and truck wouldn’t drive. Fuel pressure code, we had to unload our motorcycles and ride 5 hours home because the truck had to be towed. So that’s stranding #1, we went up 2 weeks later to the dealership where it was brought to. In THAT area it broke down. Flash ECM and was fine, drove it for not even 45 mins. Same thing happened, we made it to the next dealership. And this happened with the next dealership, and then again, we finally got it home after 3 dealerships and all these dealerships were 3 hours or more from my home. So once we got it home it took a visit to this dealership for another 5 fucking times for the same problem. One thing after another, the last problem I had, we replaced fuel wiring harness i guess and I had to pay half because extended warranty didn’t want to pay fully for it because it was a reoccurring problem. I got fucked hard on that truck. I even tried going through Chrysler corporate and lemon case in case it was a problem before I bought it, All I was asking was if they would either keep the truck and fix it properly, however long it took with no cost to me since I’m already in a hole of $2,300, ALL dodge dealerships the truck was taken too, so either just fix it or do whatever I didn’t want to pay anymore, OR give me a truck around the equal value or just under I really didn’t care. They said Nope, used car you’re fucked. Goodbye. And that’s it. That was my first dodge, first 4 wheeled vehicle ever financed and I was living at home still, luckily, but I ended up trading it in and getting my Civic. Not one problem. So never again will I buy a dodge, ever.

Twenty years ago we used Steve to sue Ford under the Lemon Law for a brand new Mercury we had back to the dealership four times to repair a failure to shift into second gear (manual trans) when the temperature outside was below 40 degrees F. We won and we’re told to bring the car back to the dealership and pick out another one. We picked out a similar model, optioned slightly higher, paid the difference and took the car home. Easy peasy. Unfortunately the new car ALSO had the EXACT same problem with shifting into second gear under 40 degrees F. We instantly sold the car and moved on. What a mess, Ford! But, Steve made this process flawlessly easy. We told him our situation, we sent him all the documentation, he told us, “Don’t worry about this, I got you covered”. WE didn’t even have to be involved. He called us back a few weeks later and told us to return the car and pick out a new one. It was THAT simple. But, only because we had our ducks in a row and did our due diligence with the dealership beforehand.

I am a master technician for Japanese manufacturer. One of the biggest problems that I see is how the Complaint is written. If you don't want your car fixed write down verbatim what the customer States. When it comes to a drivability concern 9 out of 10 times the information the customer gives me is gibberish. I don't Understand gibberish. The majority of that problem is due to the service adviser. Not knowing what questions to ask not knowing how to ask the question . Case in point your timing belt issue. By you writing on the concern line timing belt broke thats the cause line. Now technically you're right that is a concern but most people aren't smart enough to realize why the vehicle died. What the service adviser should a state it was, Vehicle died out now it doesn't start we'll let the technician decide what's wrong with the unit. The concern line Should read vehicle stalled on highway now is a crank no start. When I was at Ford they did a study. They polled 10000 people. The one thing these 10000 people had in common is they all had to go back to the dealership to get their car repaired. 70% of the people polled stated, the reason why they had to go back was because the technician did not understand the complaint. If you have a really oddball problem. Start making a log. When it happens how long it takes to happen what you're doing when it happens what's the weather like when it happens. Write down anything even if you think it's irrelevant write it down.
As far as receipts are concerned. Keep everything. Even oil change receipts. Even if the receipt you think is inconsequential keep it. And before you sign the RO read the complaint line and make sure it's correct.
I just had a car yesterday. The complaint on the RO is AC is inappropriate and it's not blowing enough volume. I get into the vehicle Register temperature is 36゚ and it's got a tremendous amount of volume.. OK I'm done with the car. Turns out the real complaint is after using the air conditioner for 8 hours it stops working. So if I don't have an accurate concern I cannot give you an accurate repair. And I really hate to point the finger at other people. But it's not my job to figure out the concern line. That's the responsibility of the service adviser and the customer giving me accurate information.

Thanks for putting out this info! More people need to know that they have legal rights if they have warranty issues.
California attorney here. CA has one of the most consumer friendly lemon laws on the books. Covers new and used cars/motorcycle/RV/boat, as long as problems arose while under a valid manufacturer's warranty. (There are some exceptions, of course.) If you have warranty issues in California, I can take a look at your potential claim without any charge (if we accept your case, we will get paid by the manufacturer).

I had a new '06 3rd gen Cummins that got 11 MPG for the first year I owned it. I complained about that several times at the dealership, only to be repeatedly told "that's just the way these are". A year later they fixed it through a recall which consisted of a software update and a sensor. It instantly jumped to 23 MPG. That was not cool, and the dealership were jackasses about it. No more new cars for me.

Early this year I bought a used 11 forester not knowing that particular year/model basically had a ticking time bomb for an engine. I used to work for Subaru back in 2010 and knew they were making good cars at the time maybe I should have stuck around a year longer! Long story short the engine grenades' on me 4 month into owning it only to have my Mother-in-law get on me about Lemon law! I had informed her that I had bought the car as is off the wholesale lot because for all intensive purposes the car was low miles and solid.
In my case the only fault I lay on the Dealership is not disclosing why it was on the Wholesale lot other than the minor paint damage. I still would have purchased the vehicle but would have been nice to have a heads up early on.

My wife and I bought a used 2017 Chevy Tahoe from Carfax here in Puyallup, Washington last year (2022) Currently, the transmission needs to be replaced as of 3 weeks ago. We took it to the Chevy dealership and they told us it was a $9000 fix. Again, we just purchased the Tahoe last year, we did not buy a warranty, and we are not sure of what to do. I am not even sure of what to ask you, but if you have any suggestions, I will take them. Thank you for your videos.

I've heard from multiple people that Ford has a way of circumventing the Lemon Law on some of their cars (Mustang GT being one of them). Something about denying warranty work if they think they can prove it was the driver's fault somehow. If this is in fact true, I hope Steve Lehto gets to take that case.

I bought a 2021 Nissan Frontier, the truck did not have enough oil in it when I bought it. 1500 miles in, it started clacking like a diesel. I took it back to the dealership I bought it from, they acknowledged it was low on oil replaced the oil, and gave it back to me. after a few days it started clacking again, so I took it back, the dealer said there was too much oil in it. I had recorded the engine start up 2 days in a row, it sounded like it was not getting enough oil in to the lifters. the Dealership claimed that was normal, I asked to hear the start up of another new truck, it did not sound anything like my truck. After the dealer changed my oil for the second time in a month, I had to take it back for a third time. This time I called Nissan and told them what was going on. The dealer claimed Nissan was going to buy my truck back so they were not going to look at my truck. I then got my self a lawyer to sue for a new engine. Nissan refuses to fix my truck, and my lawyer is not doing anything about it. After this experience, I will never buy another Nissan ever again.

This video was very timely. I'm currently dealing with a potential lemon in my 2020 Ford Edge. It has 3k miles on the odometer, and metal shavings in the oil pan. The engine sounds like a diesel on startups.
The dealership has had the car for over a month now, and as far as I know they haven't even torn the engine apart yet to diagnose what the issue is. I do have a loaner vehicle, but I also really want my car back. But if it needs a new long block, I suspect it's going to be months longer before the repair is done.
So is it worth enacting the lemon (which I can do right now under my state's law) or hold out with the loaner for the long term. I worry that if I do the former, it won't be easy to find a replacement car given how little inventory there is right now in my state (Alaska).
