What a race. Best ever. Thanks heaps to the commentary team for all they add to these races for us at a distance. Glued to the screen from down here in NZ.
I'm glad to see someone has a positive thing to say about the commentators. Wading through all the negativity in every race video, I thought I was the only one who appreciated their commentary.
I'm gobsmacked by some of the angles GB was sailing at points, holy hell! That boat has some uncanny potential! Gilles will probably have some coaching to do on gauging overlaps from the helm's position. Really good sailing, but making the push before the overlap was enough to draw any of the penalties.
Great Racing!!! It was so awesome to see LR doing such high speeds. Oh wait... no, that's right. They took the camera off the most intense point of the course so we didn't get to see it.
the wind was beyond the limit the whole time, precisely in those ten minutes in which the luna rossa breaks the sail the wind returns to the permitted limits so as to give victory without competing and then coincidentally the wind returns beyond the limits for more than half an hour! Were they waiting for another luna rossa problem?!🤮
After winning one for free ... And I'm still curious to know about the only moment in which the wind was suddenly ok, exactly when Luna Rossa had a technical problem.
@@mrlitespeed we will see who has the raw speed, who has the better maneuvers, what is certain is that you will whine about the bad bad ugly umpire 😂 👋

Deserved win for Luna Rossa. Britannia should give up the point. Winnig the point without racing on finals is just simply not fair. But they do not have balls to do something like that. Anyway, justice won.
It's literally decided by a computer program if they meet the wind limits, everyone knows the wind limits and they were decided and agreed upon years ago, so yeah it's definitely just your impression. If anything Italians got lucky to not get a single penalty in race 4, so it balances out a bit with how unlucky they got in race 3 :D

@@jameslittlewood7821 not true. First, AC75 wind limit is 21.5kn average (after applying a correction for the current). Second, that's pretty similar to most out-and-out racing classes in my experience. If I take Cowes Week as an example, they will progressively cancel classes depending on seaworthiness between 20 and 30 knots. The "dayboat" classes are first on the chopping block. Our class, for instance (Darings) have no inbuilt buoyancy, no guardrails, no reefing. That's the same for Etchells, Dragons, and most of the other dayboat classes. These classes are often more heavily built, either for offshore racing or capable of blue-water cruising. But I know of very little inshore racing that will deliberately start above that. We've all been racing in more, and survived in more, but race officers shouldn't be deliberately starting in wind conditions much different from what I've outlined here. When it happens it's usually unexpected or done in error. Whatever the SIs say about personal responsibility of skippers and crews, the regatta organisers also need sizeable liability insurance policies as they have an amount of responsibility for safe racing. It's a development class with rules on what conditions racing will occur. The committee can't change the rules now just because 1 boat is not designed as well for a condition within the range.
