Hi thanks for the video could you show on your next video how you aligned the gears back up. I know that you put the crank bolt back in and turned it align but does this not take it out of TDC?
Help..... Just done the chain on my daughters 1.2 polo this weekend. All seemed to go well. Used new bolts on the cams and crank. Correct timing tools. Checked timing regularly while doing it. Used correct torque spec. Turned it over a few times by hand. Fired it up tonight and it sounds bad. Biggest problem is the crank pulley doesnt seem to line up properly with the alternator and water pump. Any advice please
Gr8 wee vid sandy. I did one of these a couple of weeks ago. I thought the oil pump chain was slack also tho when i compared it to the new big timing chain from fai, there was a lot of side to side movement in it also. So i decided not to change the oil pump chain. Also fai dont sell it. What made u decide to change urs. I see its been off before. Thanks d
Hello, I just bought a nice 1.2 Skoda Fabia DOHC 3 cil. 12 valves... and now I have the surprise. The car has 90.000 km and it drinks about 1 lt motor oil in 500km!!! I think the problem is the valves rubber seals on the head. Car is in perfect condition and no problems in compression. What do you think?

Did u remember to put the crankshaft pulley spacer back in?
What about this second smaller chain? As I understand it runs for the water pump. Does it needs to be replaced too??
No it runs the oil pump, it should be fine don't bother replacing
Hey sandy, just a quick question, if you had to take the sump off, how did you support the engine?
Jack up under gearbox use piece of wood so not to damage box
@@sandyande thankyou

Hi I just decided to change all chains to 'hopefully' save me from going back in because I've bought the car for my son cheers sandy
Hi sandy, great video i have same problem with my polo. Any idea what i should be paying to have this work done?
If I recall a few years ago I called VW and was told £900 to £1200, an independent garage would be £650 ish cheers sandy
How much would this cost at normal garage? Parts and labour?
VW main dealer £800-1000, independent £500 approx

Is that a kit? Please put in part numbers for replacement parts
Likeee !!! interesting😃
These really are a crap engine, have done loads of these. Timing chains and burnt out exhaust valves are a very common problem .

Its either the valve seals on the intake valves, or the oil piston rings. Either way, its a huge job. Get red of it if you dont do the job yourself.
