Joe Harley & Kevin Gray are AMAZING ambassadors for Blue Note, and the product is top notch! But NOTHING they do can make up for the failures of Blue Note’s online store. Hundreds of us are still waiting for shipments from mid to late November, with no ability to interact with customer service. A 5% loyalty program ain’t gonna make me put up with that. I can handle slow media mail shipping taking a few weeks, but even their current 25% off music and 15% off art with free shipping over $85 is a bad deal if you’re not gonna get it for months. It’s too bad. I need some BN wall art!
Yep. I’m still waiting for an order from the UK store from September. It keeps showing as being in stock and BN keep making Instagram posts with links to the store that says it’s in stock. I’d love some prints, but will never buy from there again
I’ve heard of some challenges with the store but haven’t experienced them personally. I know one of the challenges is when larger orders are made that are potentially combination of preorder and stuff already in stock, that they won’t ship them until the preorders are available, and at that point the other titles may not be. I’ve also heard of the warehouse just getting overwhelmed unrelated to my prior comment. It’s clear there is room for improvement
Yeah, fell for the sale last time and did an order that still hasn’t shipped 6 weeks plus and counting. Everything supposed to be in stock and customer service can’t seem to provide any useful updates. Can’t think of any other vendor or record store I’ve shopped at that has these issues. Seriously disappointing. Love what they are doing but ordering from them directly has been highly disappointing.
Agreed. I placed an order in November, some LPs and merch and it was partially shipped, merch only. I got an email saying they would refund my entire order and still ship the records but haven’t seen any refund in over 2 weeks. Don’t know if it’ll happen or not. Can’t say I trust their online store much. We’ll see

On a positive note, I am stoked for the Rollins set. And I think the TP and CBN series reissues are killin it for the most part. Very pleased with the selections this go around.
I remember when Blue Note did their "reboot" back in the 80s-- they had something similar to the touring group with the "Out of the Blue" combo. The group had a front line of Kenny Garrett and Mike Mossman. I have the LP & it's very good.
Thanks another great update. Get the VMP Blue Note, it is great. I was a member however I passed on the cost. I purchased laster on DC at a reasonable (higher price). On quality I have all classics, 3/4 of Essentials, 3/4 Country and all Rock. Over the 10 years I have had 3 problems, that were all replaced very fast. Also will be getting the Review, this time, Missed on the others

They automatically add you to their rewards program , as I am a member and did not join.I had no idea I was a member til i saw you video saying this was available- so thanks for the update. I am also a member of VMP and am looking forward to the blue note reissue. Over christmas when VMP had their 40% off everything I was very happy to purchase the impulse box set at 40% off- hopefully they do that more often so it's easier to pick up items you are on the fence about

I hope Blue Note improves their customer service. I have had orders sitting there since November that have yet to ship (and all titles are in print) I write them and half the time they respond and half I am igmored. Still waiting for too many titles and not the first time.. Their customer service and shipping is sorely lacking. They need to step up before they ask more people to buy direct.
The original pressing of the Blue Note anthology had some serious issues that made buying it 2nd hand nearly impossible. mono/stereo info was wrong on almort every record. The lou donaldson sleeve had the info from the CD copy on the back, not the original back cover. And basically every copy of wayne shorter had swapped labels on each side. Ive had a hard time trying to contact sellers about what they had with mixed results, and im glad i can finally get it in all its (correct) glory. Its been well known to be in the works on the VMP discord for over a year, it was just a matter of when. Cant wait to get montara!!!
I forgot to mention* they sent out replacements for 3? 2? Of these titles, and that's why it made it hard to buy because not every seller had a COMPLETE copy with all the replacements. Only they ones selling in the upper 100's and thousand mark would confirm they had the goods.
@@izaiahclah5502 wow I had no idea there were so many issues. I guess it was pretty early in VMP’s boxset experience and I haven’t had those issues with their other releases. Hopefully them bringing the manufacturing in-house will be a positive change
The Woolf photographic archive was owned by Mosaic Images, a sister company of Mosaic Records and you could buy a copy of any photo he took from them for a reasonable amount; I purchased several over the years. The archive was sold to Universal in 2022 or 2023 and unfortunately you can now only buy what they offer and looks to be more expensive.
I live in Europe, I looked at buying one of the framed photos. Quoted 276 dollars to buy the smallest size, 470 dollars to ship ( the most expensive and ridiculous quote I have ever had) and another 63 dollars minimum for taxes, possible extra customs charges. Totally outrageous and is two fingers to all the non US Blue Note fans.
I'm not a fan of box sets so no to the review & the VMP set. However the Sonny Rollins is a must have for me so that I will buy. Previous attempts to purchase direct from the BN web site have been that, attempts, so in the UK will not touch
I was pretty mad at their Black Friday campaign massive failure (tons of orders not even delivered before xmas) but then was shocked they refunded all orders while still shipping them. I placed my first ever order with them during that time for 12 records and they are ending up being free 🤯
I would like to address the new cost for a Tone Poet album. I don’t know what they go for in the U.S. but in Canada, in 2023, the average price where I shop for vinyl was $44.95. In 2024, the price has jumped to $69.95. To me, this smacks of a huge cash grab. Thoughts?
Folks outside the US have a challenging time indeed. Especially when you consider how much of the vinyl manufacturing these days across labels happens in Europe. I don’t know how much of it is Blue Note vs import charges and shipping, but what is clear is that if BN could find a distribution partner in these countries, you’d think it would help reduce the cost of individuals importing their own purchases
VMP and the Blue Note boxes are mainly for US customers,very hard to buy in Europe, ...much better if the titles were in type"classic" series, for regular people,with regular prices,its all about $$$, not fun anymore, i dont care about boxes , that you open 2 times, Thanks from Sweden

Yea that’s right! So strange to have that one getting another pressing run and I imagine they’d go back to the previously mastered version for it rather than tone poet..
The new stuff recorded for the Blue Note review is supposed to be exclusive to the box sets and never reissued after,why maybe the higher price.Let’s hope that Blue Note will keep his word and never reissued it in any other format in the future so that these box sets keep a kind of novelty and price range on the upper side.Can’t wait for the next one.If Blue Note had issued them like it was supposed to be we would be at Volume 13 by now.Thanks for your videos,always very interesting.
I will never give Blue Note my business, I order a bunch of records from their website, they were running 30 percent off, I put my order in 4 weeks before Christmas 🎄 and they never fulfilled my order and some of the records were to be presents for the holidays. I will never give them the time of day, they should just send me records for free, they are the worst, I have spread the word to all my friends. I will only support my local music shop.....Ed in New York

I have to agree with this comment regarding the BN online store experience! Don’t try and return something because the experience only gets worse…

The CD I got had was Master takes with 12 cuts . It is 79 minutes of Bliss
It was sadly already released as a Music Matters title and won't likely be making its way as a TP. Classic Series for sure tho!
