Rick this was the best in a while. Clears a lot up about layer mask. Never thought of changing the opacity like you did on the chin. Not a thing boring about this tutorial. I have all your videos saved in favorites. Thanks this give me new in sight on layer mask.
A relatively straight forward tutorial but with insight to some handy PSE tools and short keys. Tools & Short keys that I either didn't know existed or would have never thought to use.

Rick: this was a great tutorial. I had to shoot a friends birthday party last evening and took a family photo utilizing a staircase. It was a large family so they were much taking up most of the staircase. The people located higher up came out somewhat dark so I used your technique in post and was able to lighten them up considerably saving the shot. Thanks for the tutorial.
This was my first time even opening Photoshop Elements. You gave such detailed directions that I was able to follow them easily and love the results I got. Thank you!

Hello. Your tutorials are awesome. Thanks for posting. I am running an older version of PS Elements (4.0) and I can't get the layer mask you explain in this video to work properly. How do I turn on a black layer mask as you did in the video with the older version? Thanks for your time
I really loved this tutorial and I have lots of uses for it. Once again you are very generous in sharing your knowledge but I miss having the notes to go with it to refresh my memory when I am using your tips.

Hey Rick nice video, thank you for going into detail on this explanation. I find I use this method quite a bit especially on photos taken with brighter backgrounds. The other thing that comes to mind is dodging and burning which is really what you are doing, probably with better results than using the PSE tools. Thanks for all you do! Rich
Hi Rich - Yes with bright backgrounds or darker skinned people sometimes the facial details can get lost. I agree that this gives much better results than using the Dodge tool. Thanks for your comments, it's always nice to hear from you!
hi Rick! My question is if you go with the first option which was to choose enhance will the automatic settings change things throughout the whole picture instead of just a specific area such as one side of a person's face that may be in shadow.
