Many years ago I had my trigger for off camera light fail at the beginning of a corporate christmas party. We were photographing couples and printing on site, generally 100-200 couples in 4+hrs. Not high art, just your standard happy snap.
When the trigger failed I grabbed my Fong Dome for my Canon flash and went to work. Pics were great, no issues the rest of the night! Gary's dome saved the event! ( I had multiple sets of cameras and lights, just forgot the backup trigger)
I later moved away from regular lights and used canon flashes and the Dome on all Canon flashes off-camera. I shot that way for a LONG time! (When I moved to Sony gear, I bought the Sony compatible Fong Domes)
