Have listened to Henry Paul since the early days and am so glad he still has mores shows in him! Everytime I attend a show of his, it's like a familiar smell that brings me back to a time and reminds me of the revelry of life and great times we had!
Just saw the Outlaws open for Lynyrd Skynyrd in Laughlin NV May 27th and I must say, the Outlaws outdid Skynyrd. With Henry Paul at the helm, the Outlaws definitely kicked ass!!! I should say I first saw the Outlaws with 38 Special in 1978 and that was one hell of a show!!!
I would love to meet Henry - I work with horses for a living - back in the 80s I was listening to the Outlaws on my truck stereo at Rodeos and horse shows - and then BackHawk came out - they were alright but I saw in Louisville around 86 The Outlaws open for Triumph and it was freaking Epic - In the Louisville Gardens - I was a 17 yr old cowboy when it wasn't cool - hell I was born into it - I'm a fair picker and good singer and Henry has been inspiring me for many moons -
I saw the Henry Paul Band play at Hofstra University on Long Island, NY right after left the Outlaws and came out with the first Henry Paul Band album. Loved his voice … still do!

Big fan of The Outlaws and I must say..Henry's carrying on the flame these last few years has not only spawned two TERRIFIC albums- It's About Pride and Dixie Highway-true Outlaws classics,but also a continually stellar live act that is as vibrant as those heady early days! Huge Outlaws fan since 75 and saw some of my favorite shows of that time in Pittsburgh. The Outlaws first was the best especially Henry with stay with me and Knoxville girl. And of course Hughie was the man. Will be missed tremendously.
My Dad was friends with Lonnie Mack, who used to come to our property to hunt for deer when I was a kid. One day back in n the 90s I was talking to Lonnie about musicians . He had known Steve Gaines before he joined LS and said his previous band was very good in its own right.
The first time I heard Blackhawk on the radio I called the station and asked the DJ if that was Henry singing. He said I doubt, I think he's dead. I said well that's his damn ghost singing then, cause I know that voice. He checked the album credits and he laughed and apologized 😄 I have a good friend, Nick, that is the drum tech for Skynyrd. If Henry ever needs a fill in drummer, tell him to give him a call.
Leon used to have me pick him up at the airport! Cause I had a78 Lincoln town car I bought from my dad for $500. Ĥe spotted at the top of the stairs by passenger pickup... hecame over and hugged me like family. I looked at his companion any shrugged my shoulder and he mimìed "rough flight and I gave Leon a big hug!!!
You don't have to throw a TV set out the window of a hotel, or ride down its hallways on a motorcycle to prove how cool you are. Let the music speak for itself

Glad to see Henry has settled down greatly. In their lean yrs , in a college bar, after their huge success had waned, I watched as some jealous dude threw a beer bottle at him. He dove off the stage into the crowd and tried to whoop the guy. He was just too quick. Hughie seemed to enjoy the exchange. It's only rock & roll... Lolol.

Hughie and Billy were The Outlaws and Henry Paul was nowhere to be found during their most successful period. Then after Hughie passed away, Henry manipulated his widow into letting him have the name.
That’s the story that I’ve heard as well. In fact, my understanding is that he started pressuring Hughie’s widow at the funeral. He saw an opportunity, and there was no time to waste. That seems pretty pushy and disrespectful to me.
The legal document HT had him sign before rejoining, is online and it clearly defines HTs ownership and his intentions going forward. Henry Paul wasn’t even part of the band in the end! HTs death was not an open door to screw his estate! He out lawyered HTs widow, and she was screwed out of the band rights that HT clearly owned! The idea of Henry Paul’s ultimate ownership over HTs estate is absurd!
A friend and I went to see Quicksilver Messenger Service at a junior college in Georgia, 1972 I think. The opening act was printed on the tickets we bought there. We'd never heard of "Lynard Skynard" Worst performance by a rock group I've ever heard, even to this day. Had the phrase been in vogue at the time, we would have said "these guys suck" Quicksilver was phenomenal, though.
It isn't always "live hard, die young", believe it or not. There are people who were some of the biggest drug addicts/partiers over the years and who are still alive into their 70s while some other people who barely or never touched drugs or even drank much or smoked passed on young. It's the luck of the draw. Some people have luck on their side while others don't.

I remember Henry Paul in the late seventies the outlaws came into the bar I was in and got on stage they jammed for an hour.

Our band Southbound used to open for KIX but, never got the opportunity to meet my mentor's which inspired me to get into music to begin with.
Great Tri-fecta lyrics had the Outlaws---"Song in the Breeze" is a favorite.
I saw Henry Paul for free at a Music store in Tampa back in the early 80s :) Joel in Florida .
