my high school choir just performed this recently at contest and got a 1 (76 out of 80!!) genuinely one of my favorite pieces weve ever preformed. my director rehearsed us so well that when concert day came we didn’t have to worry about anything. it was so amazing!! definitely some of the most fun ive ever had singing a piece :D i still listen to it and sing along even though we wont sing it again as a choir. its just one of those pieces you never forget
I remember our director was playing the piano for this song, and messed up at some point, switching to the wrong key but we held on tight, and just laughed it off afterwards. One of the best memories I have from choir.
David von Kampen I cant say that I do at this moment, I just got a list of the pieces from my choral director and decided to give them all a listen. I’ll totally try to respond to this comment once I figure out though! And for some reason I said district 9 when in reality I meant district 3! Haha. I’ll try to respond here once I figure out though for sure! :)
Wow! I was just given this piece at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music, and I’m in love with it! All the rhythmic accents are so intriguing and fun, and I adore the last chord (as a Soprano 2 I get one of the notes that makes it cool muahahaha) I don’t know how soon we’ll be performing it, but probably not soon enough!
I hear you all perform this at Metro State, and you were phenomenal. I decided then and there to program it across the mountains for CMU this semester.

We are practicing this piece lately, I really love this song!
My choir sang this for state, we got the highest set of scores my school had earned in years. I still love this piece to bits.

Very nice! I'm definitely getting an Eric Whitacre vibe from the piece, which to me is a great thing! Thanks for sharing the score with it.
This was brilliant! Definitely one of my favorite choral works out there. Thank you for your music, David.
Thanks! Glad you like it.

i did this as a junior in highschool. genuienly the hardest peice i have ever learned. it was fantastic though
Looking forward for getting to perform this piece for the ILMEA district 9 festival in the fall. Definitely one of my favorite pieces out there!
Cool! Thanks for the heads up, do you know who the conductor is?

Thanks Dana! So glad to hear a great choir will sing this. Let me know if there's a recording of it down the road!

Cool. What's the benefit of or reason for switching from 4/4 to 2/2 in m70?
That was just the spot where I felt it broadening. It could definitely be conducted another way. Thanks for listening!
This choir was realllllly dragging the tempo at the beginning. I feel bad for the pianist. They were perfect.
