A short extract from Harold Baim's "This Sceptred Isle", a series of short holiday films from the 1940's to 1970's which includes a bonus document of Hastings in 1983. This is a two-minute clip from that chronicle.

Used to get taken to Hastings on day trips as a boy and enjoyed every minute. We also had a two week holiday in the Summer of 1981, we stayed in a slightly rundown hotel in St Leonard's right on the seafront. Two smashing weeks with great weather and lots to do. I went back in 1995 with my wife and baby daughter and the town was beginning to look a bit tired and rundown. Haven't been back since as people have said it's not very nice there now, I suppose I should go and make my own mind up...

Looking at this I realise how much our council have ruined Hastings since the 80s.
