To repeat my comment of 2 years ago "I would just respect the fact that no matter how hard she seems to get knocked down or how much public criticism she receives, she always seems to keep on trying" What a legend, well done Lindsey
Seems like she knocks herself down:
Lindsey Jacobellis just won the gold medal, 16 years later. What a story.
And now she’s won TWO gold medals. 🥇🥇🏂
Came here after she won gold. I didn't think she'd ever overcome this blunder, certainly not at 36. Yesterday's triumph is a culmination of determination and not letting her past come back to haunt her. So proud of Lindsey Jacobellis for continuing to fight.
I'm glad she won the Olympics gold medal today, deserved it!
Lol I saw her instagram page and thought her name sounded familiar so I came to find this video, glad she’s now won gold! 🥇
She didn't
@@An-Alien-On-Earth She did! She won 🥇gold medal today
I'm upset because she was actually relatable to us all. You always hear about how this person is a gold medalist. They are always elevated to such high stature. How come she can't stay like us? Nothing is wrong with just having silver. That is what upsets me.
Yep. I’m glad she redeemed herself
3:45 lol, he’s like “dammit, Lindsey, not again.”
Maybe she should have just been honest and admitted she was show boating? Cleared the air, laughed at herself and then moved on. It seemed to haunt her from then on.
And go to therapy and possibly should have stopped after that Olympics.
@dsd gds She has already admitted this not to be true at all. So sure I have not been in the air and land it, but I take her word for it.
This aged like store bought milk. 😆
@@mayn90s19 all the people who laughed at her, are being laughed at..I love it! USA!

I totally remember that ham moment when she looked back to see how far away they were behind her and I thought oh no, please don’t do anything stupid...
LOL.
TODAY Lindsey Jacobellis became an Olympic Champion. Congrats, Golden Girl. 🥇🥇🏂
@@thomashong2938 we won’t hear back from her haters.. they only know trolling, not congratulating.. arrogant non Americans
03:25 Worse than making a mistake is not admitting to have made it.
That was by far the hardest part for me to watch...not the mashup, just the denial
@@FlyAmeliaEarheart perhaps she blocked it out to be able to win the gold today in 2022. Maybe, in time, she’ll speak more about her 2006 event.
She must have seen it as a mistake. The question was really if the purpose of the move actually was to gain stability or to show off. And I would like to believe she meant to gain stability but happened to go about it the wrong way. Would not really like to believe that she was lying.
she was more stable laying on the ground
We probably all scoffed at her for having a lack of humility in that mad moment in Turin 2006. Looking back, and understanding the sport (and life!) more, she probably was just a young athlete having fun and lost to a more deserving rider. I congratulate her for staying the course over the intervening years and having the tenacity to finally fulfill her Olympic dream.
Anyone that keeps grinding to win gold and not giving up almost 20 years later deserves respect. Im happy for her
She didn't need a gold medal. She had plenty of medals and other golds. It's ridiculous how she felt like she needed one. This just makes it look like a gold is all you need. Lolo Jones never won one and doesn't need one.
@@IWantToMature85 no one goes to the Olympics for silver.. she won, stop hating her
@@lethrneck4 The Olympics is the best of the best. It's an honor to just compete in it.
@@IWantToMature85 but… the main focus of people insulting Lindsay and laughing at her was her mistake cost her a gold.. now she has the gold she , let’s be honest, has won easily in 2006
I'm glad she got the Gold this year but claiming the grab was for "stability"? Really? Even the narrator doesn't believe it.
Now she did it without falling. 16 years later she gets her gold.
🥇🥇🏂
she tried to showboat...and got facepalm...
exactly that's what if u do when u get ahead of everyone in the race and then look at me CRASH she has to feel like crying girls do that its for the thrill of it

You used the wrong commentary for this vid. The BBC commentary for the snowboard X final in 2006 is epic.
She got cocky in 2006 I watched it and karma caught her fast.
Lindsey Jacobellis would then go onto to take part in the same event in PyeongChang. Where she would finish fourth in the final.

Congratulations Lindsey Jacobellis! 🎊 Perseverance 💪

@@Mo-xx9gg let it go.. she messed up as a young woman.. why keep riding her.. she just won over a field half her age even more impressive
@@lethrneck4 Very true! Very kind! Much love!
To improve stability??????????????????????????????????????
WildWing 1955 I don't believe that either. She got cocky she was so far ahead and was so confident she'd get the gold that she showed off with a move so she would have a good photo for the papers the next day - but karma always wins. She'd be gold medalist if she'd just focused purely on the race and not on ego.
Reminds me of the tortoise and the hare story.
Not necessarily a method, but a mute grab can definitely increase stability in the air
@@greenkitty82 She’s an Olympic Double Gold Medalist NOW. Why shouldn’t she have an ego when she’s the GOAT of her sport? 🥇🥇🏂
Crazy, took 16 years to correct a mistake she made at aged 20
Will it take Russell Wilson 16 years to correct his mistake from Feb 1st, 2015?
She got her revenge today with a gold medal! The curse is over for her.
The ghost of Turin just died. Way to go, Lindsey!!!!
I'm heartbroken for her. But the way I see it , she is being taught a life lesson on humility and she seems to not get it.
I think she learned her lesson after she lost the gold. Did she showboat * after * that moment ??

Had she not fallen, who knows if she competes beyond 2006. It's an incredible feat to come back time and time and time and time again to reach the pinnacle that she came so close to 16 years ago. What a moment.
Lindsey said in an interview that she would have quit the sport if she had won gold in 2006. She wasn’t having fun anymore and felt the pressure to be the Golden Girl. And she had already accomplished so much by that point.

Lindsey Jacobellis. Now an Olympic Double Gold Medalist.🥇🥇🏂
Now an Olympic champion in Beijing !
Redemption, 16 years later -
To be fair, decades from now Lindsey Jacobellis will probably be remembered for this way longer than if she was some gold medalist from 2006. We have plenty of gold medalists from 2006 that people have never heard of or will ever care to look up, but everyone knows and remembers Jacobellis.
The funny thing is she is likely the best female SBX rider ever. AND she is a 6x world champion.
@@mmtot Not to mention an Olympic gold medalist!
@@mmtot Jacobellis is the GOAT of her sport. Not just the best female SBX rider ever. No guy is more accomplished or better than her.
@@thomashong2938 she may very well be the best across genders. But you can't base that on her record against other women. Her times would be a way better indicator. They need more mixed sports already.
Back here after she wins gold in 2022!
I think viewers from every other country enjoyed this moment. Such an American way to fail.
Kafei I’m an American and I find this funny as f*ck lol. Don’t celebrate too early :/
As a non-American I don't find it funny.
I don't think it's an American way to fail. Just a way of a naive, overly confident teenager.
Nope

Pride comes before the fall.
What a literal example to that. Smh. This will remain "exhibit A" for me for the rest of my life. Although, it's pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. She was being real high and mighty (haughty) when she thought she won and fell--bit the snow dust. Her pride destroyed her.
@@cheenjoopearl yes, but she was young. I feel bad for her. I think it haunts her to this day.

She's just won the gold in Beijing 2022!! Perseverance has wiped out her rookie grandstanding at last! Never give up, never surrender!
🥇🥇🏂
Even after Turin, she hasn't learned her lesson and STILL does showboating grabs during races. See 4:22 (OK this one she was already out ...) and again at 4:34 in Sochi. The hubris is unbelievable.
So the grab at 4:22 wasn't during active competition and the grab at 4:34 was a "safety grab"; it was so small that it probably did help her to stay balanced and tucked in the air… I’m not sure what the problem is
Looked like she’d have done the method grab deliberately if she was in the lead at the last jump just as an fu to the ‘haters’ in 2006 . She didn’t seem to learn her harsh lesson. Pretty unlucky foe her after Turin for sure
@@thomashong2938 yes I got your last reply on my other comment too. Well done to her . Doesn’t change the cringe of her ‘method grab’ failure here though .

Why shouldn't they laugh? She would have won her first gold medal 16 years earlier if she hadn't attempted to show off, moreover she would've had another gold medal to her name.
people were flying off this fast course before her fall. looked like she tried a grab, but she was going extremely fast also inthe home stretch that was designed for ridiculous speed. if she didnt try to ball up, theres no guarantee she would’ve had control

@@thomashong2938 What an absolute legend, I couldn't believe it

Is she still having fun snowboarding at the Olympics?
In 2018 she placed 4th in the same event at Pyeonchang
@@sarahdarling6439 I was referencing her post-crash comment: "Snowboarding is fun, I was having fun." As in after preparing a long time to compete at the Olympics, participating in pre-Olympic qualifiers and having the gold medal locked in she completely humiliated herself showboating; in the process losing a gold medal, possibly a bundle of cash (commercials, her face on cereal boxes, etc) and had to wait another 4 years before she has another chance at the gold, so is she still having fun?
