    Huh. OCPS. Winter Park Tech. Seems like Central Florida Orange County Public Schools IT. I recall helping out over a summer establishing the new media center at the just-recently rebuilt Lake Howell High School as a Freshman, and so amazed by the latest fiber optics laid out around the campus. It helped me drive my already interest in IT into hyperdrive. 25 years later, as an old fart Linux system admin as a career, I've broken into the DoD industry making more than I could ever imagine back then.

    Can't really see a huge difference in using fiber over Ethernet atm, apart from fiber not being effected by emi. Most fiber switches and hubs run at 10GB/s anyway, so you could just use Cat 6 cable which is way cheaper anyways.... Just my own little take on it.... Great video, and thanks!

    Is the yellow banding indicating PoE an industry standard or just something Cisco use(d) on their products?

  • @freshgino
    @freshgino 9 лет назад +4

    Just a warning that some switches, including the 3560series 8Port POE switch from Cisco incorporates a "Dual Purpose Port".
    The dual-purpose port can use either an RJ-45 connector or an SFP module, but not both at the same time.
    See 11:05.

    Hi if uplink is not the best way to interconnect switches, then which one is a better way?

    • @TechsavvyProductions
      @TechsavvyProductions  2 года назад

      Great question! Many switch manufactures have a proprietary "backplane" connector and interface that allows all the switches connected this way to be as "one". It allows stand alone switches to interconnect and become like a chassis based switch with slots for for expansion. The interconnection is extremely fast and allows joined devices to be managed as one unit.

    Sir Can you tell me that what are the daily work of network engineer as a fresher ?

    • @TechsavvyProductions
      @TechsavvyProductions  3 года назад +1

      Great question: If you work for a large enterprise like a hospital, you will be responsible for configuring access points, switches, configuring and troubleshooting various network issues. You could be assigned firewall and router configurations and troubleshooting. Most smaller companies hire third party companies to configure, install and troubleshooting their gear and solve their network issues.
