My grandfather used to tell us that Tangkhuls are elder brother of Meiteis. In Mera month(Sept/Oct), every household of Meiteis, there will be lamps/torches tied on the top of post(Mera Wa-Yungba). These lamps were used in the ancient time to give signal to elder brothers in the hills that younger brothers were safe and doing well in the valley. Elder brothers in the hills also caused wildfire to signal that they were safe and doing well. Hinduism and Christianity divided us two hundred ago. Now politics again divide us. Our forefathers in the heaven may be crying to see so much disunity among us.. Hope some day we will unite and make our forefathers proud...
