There isn’t enough gold in the world that can keep me out there from being eaten alive by those bugs. Literally every second of ur day is spent swatting ur face.
My FIL worked at a small mine here in Arizona in the 1980's they used Cyanide leaching in plastic lined pits. Eventually the soluble liquid from the cyanide was pumped through old water heaters that had carbon in them catch the gold. One guy almost died from breathing the fumes he was partially paralyzed but recovered because they had an antidote kit onsite. They had taken some classes on how to use the kit it also included taking the person to the hospital. Big mining operations don't use plastic lined pits they construct a fully operational mill where mixing tanks are used all enclosed so people can't fall in they cost millions to construct really the safe way to operate a Cyanide leaching system.
@@jordanbarger2655 Wow that's cool my FIL did this in the 1980s when gold prices were high. I figured today with all the government red tape too difficult to get a small mine going that is using cyanide. I have seen one on the backway to crown king road they are using ground water and trommel system from what I can tell.
It's important to make sure the PH level of the water is above the point where Sodium Cyanide reacts with the water and converts to hydrocyanic (spelling?) gas which is probably what Fred had breathed in. The PH needs to be somewhat above 10.0 which is highly alkaline. The main antidote to cyanide poisoning is injection (with big needle) of sodium nitrate which is used as a preservative in food!
hello mate i am a metallurgy student in Zimbabwe can i please have your contact details. I have practical questions on leaching. Hope to here from you.
Not at all. Completely safe with zero danger involved. Those gases are not dangerous and you can breathe them in all day long no problems. Cyanide is found naturally in the human body.
Can i have your contact sir ? I also work like that in my landtown in lombok indonesia , may be we can join here with more chiever all parts price of cynide system .

He has obviously never used the respirator because you have to shave your face to get a complete seal hes gonna breathe in gases
No, no you dont

That's a shocker
I like the part where they say, "you smell that".....ummm ya dummies if you can smell it you're breathing it!!!! UH HELLOOOOOOO!!!!
I would assume it’s just a initial gas that’s emitted
That tarp is more than a hundred square feet do these shows ever try and find the right information about the stuff there filming about.
@Stephen Clark that's what I thought to that tarp is more than 10x10.
I was wondering who was gonna catch that lol half the people watching these shows can't use a power tool let alone understand sq ft 🤷

They should definitely call this method the Jim Jones extraction method

I was going to say! 100 square feet is just a normal tarp you might take camping.
Leach pad operator here at Equinox Gold we do leaching with cyanide our leach pad brings in about 400 ozs a day

Cyanide leaching does not release any harmful fumes. You would need to add an acid to create cyanide gas.
Tailings are acidic
@@themonkeyspaw7359 Acidic tailings come from sulfide minerals and you don't have that with material you use cyanide leaching.
When mixing even with water solid airborne particles can reach you

If the ph is lowered to 6, it will become neutral after a while
I know it can be done safely although you have to be aware of the dangers and how to respond and clean up 👍

More importantly... did he leach the gold?!?!?

Thumbs up if you want to see Todd Hoffman's crew try this.
Do they measure square footage different in Australia?

What kind of ore is it

Dangerous not only to health and environment but also to the pocket.
Not dangerous at all. Cyanide is found naturally and is not dangerous when used like this. Zero environmental effect.
