- This episode was first broadcast on ITV on the 15th February, 1986. Roy Kinnear was a very familiar face to me as a child from the voice of Pipkin in Watership Down to the voice of Mr. Sprot from Bertha. Later, as my love of classic British films and TV grew, Roy Kinnear was sure to make an appearance somewhere in the cast. From his performance in the film Melody to Ken Russell's French Dressing, or the hammer horror classic Taste the Blood of Dracula, and playing the seedy adult film producer Benny U. Murdoch in Eskimo Nell. Kinear's work spanned many genres, clearly a credit to the man's talent. On the 19th September, 1988, in Toledo, Spain and while Roy Kinnear was filming for The Return of the Musketeers, he fell from his horse, sustaining a broken pelvis and sadly passed away from a heart attack the next day at a Madrid hospital aged only 54.
Roy Kinnear was one of those comforting, familiar faces I grew up with, along with Leonard Rossiter. They both died too soon.
Back when that little box in the corner of your living room was like a magic window, where those that we would see most often, became as familiar to us as a visit from a friendly, welcoming uncle or aunt. Kinear, Rossiter, Cribbins, Cant, Castle... the list for me goes on and they all were a huge part of my childhood.
Great to see footage of a much loved, much missed comedy actor. I don't believe he ever quite gained the respect he deserved ... and the way he died was truly a tragedy. Thanks for uploading.
A Naturally funny man and a very good actor who we all missed
My hero when I was a boy. His performances were all so relatable and open and real... and funny. As a young lad, I watched Dick Emery's Christmas specials just to see Roy. I was so disappointed when Roy didn't appear. I felt a strong connection with this master performer.
A very familiar face on the small screen to me while growing up.
Really enjoyed his performances growing up.
As did I.
What a rare treat.
He's a genuinely funny guy.
What a lovely man was Roy Kineer. Funny, witty but always serious. Smart in his suit.
Such a great lovely likable guy. Gone far to soon. Polite, friendly, cool and a great actor. God bless him.
A very, very, very good actor. He was the real deal.
A lovely man with a great sense of humour. He's a bit too self deprecating, which makes me want to protect him. It's nice to see a celebrity that doesn't have a big ego and doesn't take life too seriously.
I agree, and feel quite sympathetic to his insecurrities
Always a pleasure to watch and this no exception 🌟 Son Rory Kinnear a wonderful foil to the deranged Count Arthur Strong
I thoroughly enjoy Rory's reacquiring role in Craig's Bond films!
@@majordolbyscat ' The Confession ' .........Never seen the Craig Bonds 😮
His son Rory is a credit to him. Love him in George and Mildred😉
I seem to remember he appeared quite a few times as one of George's old school friends that Mildred's hated ;)
Looks just like him too.
Loved him as Mr.Salt from Willy Wonka.
Im American and only know him from Willy Wonka, but he always reminded me of my own father and seemed like such a nice and kind man
One of Roy's last TV roles was on an episode of Casualty which wasn't shown until the Summer of 1989 as a mark of respect for him as he died around the time it was originally meant to be broadcast.
Roy was brilliant as the skin heads dad in Dick Emery and Jerry in George and Mildred as George's friend who Mildred never liked. He was a brilliant actor. Very funny.
Totally agree, and much missed from our screens
Roy died within 2 years of this interview. RIP xx
1:46 how ironic. Sad that he couldn’t say no to the shot in Toledo
Such a tragic accident that yes, I think could have been avoided
Yep, £650K won't bring him back. Big loss@@majordolbyscat
Great comic actor
DAD!!!! I THINK I GOT IT WRONG AGAIN😮😢
Roy kinnear a genuine funny bloke
Most of the interview was about his weight
I felt like its needed "for some" but then those "some" are probably not watching my content ;)
What business you in Salt? Nuts.
He died on set while falling off of a horse
19 September 1988 whilst filming ‘The Return of the Musketeers’.
Died 20th
Can you identify the source of the snippet of dialogue that can be heard at the very beginning of the most recent video on a channel called RR Classics ? Green logo, 15 subscribers. The owner of the channel has disappeared.
I have just just listened and while, sadly I am unable to identify what production it is from, I am almost 100% confident in saying its the voice of actor George Layton

Okay. Thanks.
Seems like a veneer. Not his true self, a character. Would love to have seen his TRUE self.
