I have been listening to this on a loop for the past two months. I'm addicted…again. I'm not sure why. Stephen's vocals? Warren's shredding? I think I know what it is. When my best friend and I were growing up in the mid-80s, we had "Out of the Cellar" and "Invasion of Your Privacy." For some reason we just couldn't get our hands on a copy of this album. We tried and tried. We PRAYED Headbangers Ball would play "Dance" or "Slip of the Lip." Now, in the age of RUclips and iTunes, I have instant gratification. I listen to this album as if it were the First Time over and over again. "Dance" and "It Doesn't Matter" blow my mind every time. :)
Yes, I listen to all their stuff constantly when I code and am very productive. Been to several of their concerts and can't get enough. Graduated HS in 82' so I remember when it all first came out. Interesting and excellent group to say the least.
RATT IS & WAS A BIG HAIR ROCK BAND THAT DIDN'T GET THE CREDIT THEY DESERVED! I SAW THEM 4 TIMES IN THE EIGHTIES AND INVASION TOUR GOT 3 OF MY FRIENDS TO BE RATT & ROLLERS ! ROCK ON!!!!
Ratt, my favorite. One thing also i think Ratt was best at was the bridge on most of their songs right before the lead guitar or after lead guitar part. How the song slows down or changes the groove. Drive me crazy - "To move me, Turn the key, And you move me to the right. Well drive me crazy tonight" One Good Lover - I only want to bring you closer to me, It's something we can see. I want to see you over me. You're the one for me. Body Talk - Let it out. You don't know what you're missing. Have no doubt, I'm takin' what you're givin'. Make no mistake, Let's make it clear. You're speaking a language that's easy to hear. Plus same on Cellar and Invasion. Plus all the great ending leading guitar parts at ends of songs.
Cruising market street in frederick MD in 1985 on a hot summer Saturday night in my 73 Plymouth satellite with air shocks, cragars and RATT screaming thru my speakers. Yeah...I lived it.😎
Just got the original vinyl LP from 86; the same one I owned when I was 13 years old. Man I miss those days of music. All this music was new, controversial, fun and not that depressing grunge crap from the 90's.
Anthony: Hey man...I remember hearing that song in the Golden Child and singing along to it in the theater when I was 15. I got a few laughs in England at the time...LOL. Man, good times. Cheers bro!
The diversity of music and bands were way better back then than these days, hardly none of these bands nowadays can hold a candle to the talent of those of the 80's.
My first concert. I was 13 later in 86' turned 14.. my aunts boyfriend took me. The opening band that we thought were girls at first I remember us saying there not bad.. no one ever heard of them.! Well yet.! Called Poison! Lol
This cassette tape was in my portable tape player almost all the time, even snuck it in school & listened with one ear piece w the volume down... Hahaha...that was 1987.
I heard an interview with Stephen Pearcy and and Jake E Lee was in an early version of Ratt called Mickey Ratt .I think it was on an Eddie Trunk interview. The Mickey Ratt stuff was on iTunes. Juan was playing withan eearly version of Dokken before joining Ratt. How crazy??
so many of the LA/Hollywood 80s rock/glam bands had so many connections to each other. they all played together in different formations until they found the best fit for each band and the results were amazing!
It's because Warren was replaced after the out of the cellar album as well as all of ratt. All those vicious pinch harmonics and phrasing disappeared after out of the cellar
Im with Ya I had my big 3 - Ratt , Dokken & Crue of course . These bands could get you through anything life back then threw at Us !!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and its Invasion no doubt lol
+petri ruotsalainen the first 3 songs on Invasion are tough to top. that being said, i think this album has better overall songs. the harmonics to dance's opening is great guitar playing. honestly i just think its the mood your in when deciding which album to play, they each have their own feel , if that makes sense. the 80's were so much more fun than today.
sicfrynut Lyrically Dance doesnt come close IMHO Neither does the guitar playing . Dance is a fantastic song but its not as good as Lay it down , Never Use Love , Your In Love . Dance and Body Talk are the stand outs from D,D,D But HEY I love Ratt so If your a Ratt fan and Im a Ratt fan Then we have RATT in common and That is ALL that Matters lol Right ? I like Reach for the Sky which most hated so go figure ? Detonator never got any traction because Robin havin to leave and they never toured the US fully on it . A very very good record ..
+Aaron #The80'sRocked I just like the harmonics in the opening riff of dance. you're in love, never use love and lay it down are my 3 favorites of Ratt. even a bit above lack of communication, wanted man and you're in trouble. was so impressed with Invasion when i first heard it (most people thought round and round was their only good song on Cellar. (wrong.) due to the glam facet of the band i think warren didnt get as much attention as he should have for his guitar playing. robbin was great as a rhythm compliment to warren. as for reach for the sky, it just didnt meet the bar set by the first 3. detonator was definitely overlooked. the end of the 80's metal bands sadly enough. if i had a dollar for every time i've listened to a Ratt song, my personal assistant would be typing this response to you as i would be enjoying my wealth. saw them 4 times live at their peak, never disappointed. my apartment in college was the Rho Alpha Pi house. RATT. poor souls today dont know what they missed in the 80's. now i need to listen to some Ratt. enjoy!
sicfrynut Yeah we had it Good in those days . I was 19 when Invasion came out a smoking hot Girlfriend and life was simple and good . If you didnt live it ya wont get it , is what I tell younger people lol
Lagu "Slip of the Lip" ini tentang seorang pria bersama gadis nakal. I saw this tour when they came to Chicago...I fucking swear, I never have seen that many women dressed in little more than their underwear in one place in my life.
I liked this album when it was released. I didnt like the next one "reach for the sky" after that i didnt really follow ratt any more. I did go to the concert for this tour, poison opened for them at Cobo Arena, in detroit.
The original ratt was a very kick ass raw heavy metal band that lasted two albums . The ratt EP and out of the cellar ... when invasion came out it was obvious to me that they were all replaced they didn't sound as raw Steven's vocals sounded different this new guy he whines when he sings and also he never hit the high notes like the original Steven did. Also warren Demartini had a vicious attack on his guitar with incredible peach harmonics in his phrasing was out of this world .... after out of the cellar you did not hear this kind of guitar again from ratt..also they look different I think people forgot what the original ratt looked like. Sadly doppelgängers are a part of the Hollywood and music industry .most rock bands only last one album before they explode in turmoil they already have a contract so to cover the record companies ass they make sure they have replacements on hand is not as hard as you think when there are five people in your on state that look exactly like you . I don't care what anyone says ratt were replaced after out of the cellar .
You obviously don't understand Hollywood or the music industry at all they do that shit all the time and you don't even notice it . Difference is I know what I'm talking about .
I remember a lot of people saying this is when Ratt sold out, that this was too polished or whatever. Now, I would agree that the lyrics were a little weak but man, some of the tracks are really killer. Metal as we knew it was on the way out at this point, sadly.
Body Talk is the only true song that shows any progression for the band.(At this point in time) The rest sounds like filler and gimmick songs; even some rehash of older songs. My Opine.
Lloyd Garrison your absolutely right his voice on studio album albums sounded killer but live it was scratchy and vocals just didn't sound good so I agree brother! With that being said Ratt is still one of my favorite bands of the 80,s....
It's because it's not Stephen it's another guy . I'm telling you management and the record company replaced all members of rat after the out of the cellar album and subsequent tour ... they do this shit all the time with Hollywood actors and with musicians no one can touch the original Steven Pearcy.I knew something was wrong when in 1985 watching the lake it down video he looked a lot thinner and the voice was not there anymore ...he could no longer hit the high notes
risto ramey. umm, no. I know ac/dc had that line too. It isn't a rock n roll trademark. It was a warning during wartime that a casual chat could end in catastrophe. Watch what you say, and to whom you say it to.

Brandy Bradshaw I couldn't agree more with you it's like a time warp back to a better time
Ratt, my favorite. One thing also i think Ratt was best at was the bridge on most of their songs right before the lead guitar or after lead guitar part. How the song slows down or changes the groove. Drive me crazy - "To move me, Turn the key,

It's something we can see.

Minkey Bounces! Right on brother!
Minkey Bounces! Awesome I remember hearing Body talk from the Eddie Murphy movie The Golden child and after that I was hooked on RATT
Anthony: Hey man...I remember hearing that song in the Golden Child and singing along to it in the theater when I was 15. I got a few laughs in England at the time...LOL. Man, good times. Cheers bro!

warran de martini hey man don't we all i miss it More than anything i wish i could go back and find a way to stay so I'm with you...
The diversity of music and bands were way better back then than these days, hardly none of these bands nowadays can hold a candle to the talent of those of the 80's.
i was there nothing much to miss only cruising around maybe.
I have this album as a vinyl, I have listened to it probably 50times and I never get bored! Amazing album!
My first concert. I was 13 later in 86' turned 14.. my aunts boyfriend took me. The opening band that we thought were girls at first I remember us saying there not bad.. no one ever heard of them.! Well yet.! Called Poison! Lol

RATT rocks Stephen Pearcy i have been a fan of for years and have meet him a number of times. Im glad the Orig Ratt is back
Warren DeMartini is Ratt. And the heavy rock world needs to pick up where this album and time left off.
How crazy??

B. Scott Farthingsworth Ratt was Crosby. Carlos ruined their sound. And warren should practise more
Ya, I watch Warren nowdays and it looks and sounds like he is new to guitar playing. He is still my guitar hero though!
It's because Warren was replaced after the out of the cellar album as well as all of ratt. All those vicious pinch harmonics and phrasing disappeared after out of the cellar
The Golden Child with Eddie Murphy was my first introduction to Ratt.
My favorite band from the 80's. Hard to tell if this or Invasion of your privacy is the all time best album ever.

Underrated Ratt right here, yo.
I saw this tour when they came to Chicago...I fucking swear, I never have seen that many women dressed in little more than their underwear in one place in my life.

Check out Detonator, it's much better than RftS. I also heard their last album was pretty good.
Ralph Richardson Detonator rocks!
I forgot how good this record was.
For all the 'little Per-bers' wondering who I am,😎😎😎,I have every Ratt album, up to Infestation, mate!!!😍😍😍😍😘😘😗😗😗😗😗😙😙😚😚😄😅😆😆

very cool
I remember a lot of people saying this is when Ratt sold out, that this was too polished or whatever. Now, I would agree that the lyrics were a little weak but man, some of the tracks are really killer. Metal as we knew it was on the way out at this point, sadly.
sounds better now that im old.....
RATT N ROLL
👊👌
Body Talk is the only true song that shows any progression for the band.(At this point in time) The rest sounds like filler and gimmick songs; even some rehash of older songs. My Opine.
Problem with Ratt was Stephens vocals live.
He has great studio voice but he sucks live!!
Lloyd Garrison your absolutely right his voice on studio album albums sounded killer but live it was scratchy and vocals just didn't sound good so I agree brother! With that being said Ratt is still one of my favorite bands of the 80,s....
Reminds me a lot of Vince Neil. He had terrible live vocals, but great in the studio!
Mind you, so does Don Dokken's and Sebastian Bach's has become gruesome too.
Not true at all. It's his voice, it's just been resurfaced, polished and enhanced by tech.
Slip of the Lip , suena muy rockero ochentero
I think best done ratt is not for a in sunset
loose lips sink ships a great acdc line.
risto ramey. umm, no. I know ac/dc had that line too. It isn't a rock n roll trademark. It was a warning during wartime that a casual chat could end in catastrophe. Watch what you say, and to whom you say it to.
quite accurate
I don't smoke, thanks.
I remember the first time I met Robbin.
Who wants stories??
This clunker should be called "Dead In The Water", and the reason is because Beau Hill was more into the Alice Cooper album he produced at the same time, Constrictor. I saw them on this tour, unfortunately, and they played the shit out of this crappy, sub-par album to my annoyance. Would've much rather seen them the year before. Out Of The Cellar and Invasion Of Your Privacy are the only great Ratt albums. They went downhill after that.
Tried. Never a big fan. It all starts sounding the same.
