- This math and science video tutorial shows you how to identify the dependent and independent variables so you which data to plot on the x axis and on the y-axis. It contains plenty of examples and practice problems such as word problems. It shows you if the dependent variable and independent variable is x or y and it discusses the relationship of certain graphs such as linear curves, inverse relationships, and quadratic or parabolic functions. Examples include Newton's second law of motion between force, mass, and acceleration, boyle's law of pressure and volume in chemistry, and distance vs time under constant acceleration in physics. It also explains the difference between the control group and the experimental group. The slope of the line for the force mass example is acceleration.

Usually my brain hurts when I think about math but it didn't really hurt that much when you explained it...
Still did for me but less stressful than being In class with limited time
Same for me
The best teacher on youtube!!!
NO CAP 🏌
Great video! I recall learning about the dependent and independent variables in high school, but that was 30 years ago. This was an excellent refresher - straight-forward and easy to understand. Thanks for your contribution.
Well done! So nicely explained, well-paced, and clear.
good God .my lecturer completely tormented my class with this topic .thanks for this bro
finally i understand my lessons now, i hope that there i somethin like teacher elections coz my teacher doesnt really explain the lessons in a good way
same😑💀
same 😔
Same man
Is z just pendent then?
Omg thanks so much this is like life saver for quarantine dumb brain🦋🐛
Hello,
Thank you for the great video!
I do have a question about the table. Is it safe to assume that the left side column of the table is associated with the x-axis and the right side column associated with the y axis? I have some data tables with out any statements or instructions on how to graph.
Kind regards.
Hi Emir Bell, Always keep in Mind, Independent variables - Cause and Dependent Variables - Effect. Here, Different masses are Mentioned as Causes and Force is the Effect. You know, There is no Effect without Cause. X Axis is the Cause (Mass) and Y axis is the Effect (Force). You Can Measure the Force (Effect) only by Changing or Varying the Mass Value (Cause)...Even Without Statement you can Understand the Table by Verifying the Cause and Effect Relationship. I hope U will get this point... Thank You...
x-axis goes left to right (horizontal). The y-axis goes up and down (vertical).
How do you tell which one is independent and which one is dependent? I’m confused
I feel like this is a silly question, but I'm doing math with all new variables, follows logarithmic trends. The deviations come from linear trends. I'm getting confused on what "proportional relationship" means. In this example, is acceleration also proportional to your Y-axis??? Say you have 3-4 variables, where do you draw the line of being related
You have explained it very well
Thanks man! You came in clutch once again
Sr. Thank you so much 🎉. You are a great tutor 👏👏
Can you please upload how to calculate dependent and independent variables in jacobian equation
Where is the dependent and independent variable of X=f(y)? Why X is big letter variable? Help!
I wish u are my teacher in math
Whose coming from 2020 pandemic coronaviurs
Waiting for the day when he starts teaching COMMERCE at advance levels
I’m ready for my applied Maths and statistics degree 👨🏾🔬
Thanks really it was beneficial 🌺🌺
You're very welcome.
someone please tell me is the mph independent and the distance dependent or vice versa
So nice...... thanks!
Thanks a lot
Thank you this really helped.
Thx.
This is really helpful.
is time always a independent variable, suppose I have temp and time, what is dependent and what is independent?
Well, time can be dependable when you want to experiment tasks time, in projects. Like how much time can a welder product a sound joint in 30 spools, etc...
How do you know how many numbers and what to count by for the bottom and left side
Why y variable must be first degree form to be considered a function?
Amazing
It is amazing
What is this really used for in our future lives?
I think at this whenever I hear math
Thanksss
thank u so much
great video thank you
How about volume of water and cost of water.which one is the dependent variable
Would you please give me clarity on volume of water and cost of water
Thank you very much. 😄
Its so nice
How do you know to put 10 for y?
Thanks
Thank you 💯
@the organic chemist, do you memorize all these things or just the name and generally what it does then look them up as you need them?
Thanks we were learning this in my science class and I didn’t understand anything
Please I need help on that
me being totally not getting distracted by his voice
In 50 years most of the people who watched this video passed away.how do variables effect this
I love you
