Omg, that storage is amazing!and I’m so jealous of classrooms with separate desks and chairs. Looks great!

Idk if this would work for your students, but in my junior year, we had a teacher for history and when we got to his class we would put our phones into our backpacks and he would do his lesson. At the end of each lesson, he started out by telling us we were allowed to have our phones for music or to look up any information we needed to do our class work. By the second or third week of that year, we learned that when we got there, phones went away until the end of each lesson. I really like the idea of the signs and when I was in my early years of high school, I really do believe this would’ve helped many students 🤍

Thanks for the suggestion! I’m gonna try the backpack tip with my signs to see if that helps

We use Google Classroom for 'most' of our work, however this is a great idea because handouts are still needed, it's great to let students know early where to go get any documents during the week, and even some students will surprise you by doing paper work over laptop work lol.

Great tip to have the phone information by your phone! I’ve been teaching 25 years and have never done that. I think I’ll make one for this year, thanks! Love these little tips. 😊

Great idea for absent work! I'm still trying to perfect this strategy. A problem I encounter is students losing copies and taking more out of the absent folders. How do you suggest managing that issue?

I have that same issue! When I make copies, I always make extra and put them in the folder. Last year, if the extras ran out, students would have to do the online version with Kami or they could print it out in our school library. This year I’m going to focus on building their organization (binders, binder checks, using the graded work bins as storage).
My colleague stores their folders in the classroom so they never take work home (no homework, but also means students have to use their class time wisely). It works for him so I’m going to observe his method this year.
Hope these suggestions help you and your students have a great year!

@@TeachingNaturall Yes, thank you! I don't assign homework either. The only homework they have is what they don't finish in class. I tried the binders but they get too cumbersome, so I switched to pocket folders for each new unit of study. Students do keep them in the classroom and only take them home at their discretion.
I just recently found your videos and appreciate how you share what teaching strategies are working for you and your students (not just the physical setup of your classroom).
