(RAW) My WORST crane job ever

  • The raw unedited footage of the second tree that we did that day. Following the 3 pick tree I was feeling good, but that quickly went away as we began this tree. Given that we were almost three time the distance from the crane as the first tree I was able to take significantly smaller picks this time around. Not all of them went smoothy......

    Leave your climb line up high all times bud and have the water go on the crane

    Hey not trying tell u what to do but if you use the the 3 attachment method it will help balance your picks I normally use a spar short piece of rigging line . But like I said when you work off the ball from the top it so much easier cause you can use the ball as you main attachment point for climb line it a lot easier to see you picks an to get out on the branch’s cause a lot of time you don’t have a attachment point above you. Also when you set your chokers try to offset them so you have a hook on each side of the log instead of both on one side it will also help balance your picks . Really not trying be that guy do my way bit if I can help someone out I try to . Take alittle from me an a little from the next guy an you end up becoming more rounded tree guy different guys see stuff differently anyway stay safe out there

      No worries at all. I would have preferred to use the three bull ropes that I have dedicated to doing balance crane picks, but this crane operator preferred to use his own endless slings. And then as for the balance of the pics, typically I do put them on opposite sides, however on some of the pics especially the one with the massive branch on the bottom both myself and the crane operator felt like it would balance better if I put both of the shackles on the side with the big Branch to try to counterbalance it a little bit better with the trunk wood. I really do appreciate the constructive criticism though it's always welcome

    I’m sorry I know becoming that guy …. It’s nice for brush if you have slings take a piece of 5/8 rope tie a bunch alpine butterfly’s as attachment points then you use it to take a good amount of brush with each pic they sell a big sling or whatever u want call it that has a bunch loops built in but for a diy thing my idea will work it just helps production

      Don't worry about it. I'm not perfect, and would much rather get people's opinions on how I can become more efficient as opposed to just people telling me good job blatantly. Yeah I'm pretty sure I've seen a bunch of RUclips videos using that, we just don't do that many crane jobs. For instance this one was in the last week of May, and we haven't done another one recently.

    I hate not being able to ride the ball in crane jobs not only cause I’m lazy lol but I find it so much easier to see your pics an set your chokers when you come in from the top . Is it just your preference or are you not allowed to were you are I no different states have different regulations as well as some companies don’t allow it. It speeds up production fir me a ton to get that free ride to the top lol

    • @ReallyTallTreeGuy
      @ReallyTallTreeGuy  Год назад

      Oh I'd much prefer to ride the ball it gives me a way better sense of how big something actually is as opposed to me just trying to judge for scale while I'm under it or next to it in the tree. No it's that crane company's policy that climbers can't ride the ball. The company I work for doesn't really care it's up to me, but the company we used for the crane the guy flatly said can't ride the ball. Oh absolutely plus it looks awesome on camera to be riding a crane

      @@ReallyTallTreeGuy yeah I had a crane company tell me that once so I said well have a good day an sent them home I argued with the about payment but they never got a dime from me lol. It was blessing really tho cause I found summit crane and there company rocks . It take the operator to do tree work it not like picking up stuff off the ground an setting it on top of building or something. They gotta know how make piece swing away from you an just tree work different than just about any other thing cranes get into
