  • RESPECT: Hip-hop Style & Wisdom at Oakland Museum of California showcases a photo gallery of Hip-Hop excellence, history, culture, and wisdom captured at the Oakland Museum of California. Features stories of origination in creative style, which include Bay Area origins with graffiti artwork, albums, photography, fashion, and interactive visual displays.
This video shows the full interview with Traci Barlow and Davy D and what it was like attending the exhibit's first day open to journalists. At the end, you'll see me dancing in front of a friend and her son when I brought her to visit the exhibit another day.
Recorded March 22, 2018, this was my first interview assignment at the Laney Tower, Laney Community College's Newspaper, before it became a Digital Newsroom. I had wanted to show more pictures and interviews back then, but I was inexperienced, preparing for finals, and in May, I made the infamous "BBQ Becky" video go viral. That made my world go into overdrive. Not to mention, I suffered from a lot of anxiety.
Now that I am developing my own website, I am reviewing the old posts, updating the photo galleries, and finding the original videos to accompany the articles.
