There is a comedy skit with Shirley Bassey and a British comedian, whom you may not have heard of, Les Dawson. Les would play 'out of tune' and ask the audience to sing along. He was actually a brilliant pianist and played the wrong notes very well and would have the audience in stitches. He was very famous in his day and would dress in drag in skits with Roy Barraclough as Cissie and Ada. Les was a very eloquent speaker and that would be at odds with the surreal family scenarios that he would conjure up. In the skit with Shirley, they are just at the piano whilst Les is dourly spinning out this yarn about his life, his mother-in-law and his parents, and playfully insulting Shirley, who can hardly hold herself together for laughing so thank goodness a grand piano is there that she can lean on. Shirley is an incredible singer, now 87. Sadly, Les passed several years ago now and is much missed.
Shirley Bassey is an iconic singer here and around the World. She's sold more albums and singles etc than she knows what to do with. She was asked to sing three James Bond movie theme tunes- Goldfinger, Diamonds are Forever and Moonraker. She was made a Dame by our dear late Queen. Her career has spanned more than 70 years.
David Bowie and Kate Bush are two of the most iconic artists ever. Incredibly talented, creative and innovative, leading the way for all who followed, the absolute best of British!

Fleetwood Mac started out as British but soon added American members like Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham. I’d call them an Anglo-American band, but fair enough to use them in a British music quiz.
Never ceases to amaze me how little Americans realise that so much of what they consume comes from other countries (particularly the UK). I understand that people don't always sing with accents but I think most Brits would still know which musicians are British or American or Canadian or Australian just by common knowledge or maybe a greater desire to want to know these things 🤷♂️

Fleetwood Mac formed a few years before Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined. The line up has changed many times before and after they were members. But they were the only two American members.

Great stuff Guys. I worked at a company in the Early 80s and The Lady that ran the office had a son who was a good mate of Phil Oakley, from The Human League and she put him up in her spare room in Crosby, which is a suburb in Merseyside.
I met Depeche Mode in '82, when they was in Jersey (Channel Islands). they got on the Bumper Cars with me and my mates at Fort Regent. they was playing a concert there that night.
I know nothing, but Shirley Bassey is seen as an icon, legendary singer. Deffo check out some of these musicians' music. You'll enjoy it as you will be more familiar with their music than with them.
Fleetwood Mac was started by Mick Fleetwood and John McVie in the 60s as a blues band in the UK. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckinham who are American joined the band in 1974.
Peter Green was the main man, that's why the band changed so much when he had his breakdown. The name Fleetwood Mac was first coined when they both appeared on a recording of a jamming session Green did, he labelled the tape Fleetwood Mac to remind him who was on it. I've heard a similar story of their time in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers so who knows. When you know the history of Peter Green and then listen to Man Of The World it really hits hard, early Fleetwood Mac were a special band and too often overlooked.
Fleetwood Mac were at their best as a British band! The Peter Green years with Jeremy Spencer..and Danny Kirwan. Some of the best guitar playing you'll hear are on the first albums!

this was a lot of fun to watch. You should take note of everyone you have never heard of and do a reaction to them. Some great bands in there. Can recommend Paulo Nutini and the Abbey Road live session. it has over 75million views and is a mind blowing performance.
David Bowies Band Spides from marrs were all Yorkshire, and no one could understand them. 😂 Trevor Bolder was the Base Guitarist and his wife Shelly looks after my cats when I go on Holiday.
You did great! I'm a huge Damon Albarn fan, he's the lead singer of Blur who got a mention in the quiz, one of the biggest Britpop bands of the 90s, he went on to create the animated band Gorillaz who you might be familiar with. Hope you get the chance to check them out. Congrats on the Patreon, I just joined!
Thank you! Appreciate your support. :) We will add Blur to our list of music to check out and we are familiar with the Gorillaz! Had no idea the connection.
I didn't do brilliantly to be honest, but it was interesting to see which answers were really easy for a British person that gave you trouble, and which you knew well.
Can't believe you haven't heard of Shirley Bassey. Such a legend! Plus, most of the biggest and iconic bands are/were British. Yes, America have some iconic good bands but most of the biggest hitters of all time were UK based
This was fun. Would be fascinating to hear some feedback IF you bother to decide to check up on all those musicians, groups, albums to find how many of them you actually did know.
Elvis Costello & the Attractions were big in the UK late 70s and in to the 80s, but Elvis Costello (born Declan Patrick MacManus - a name that is sneaked into an episode of Ted Lasso) has been a prominent musician and influence for many years now.

I know nothing, but Shirley Bassey is seen as an icon, legendary singer. Deffo check out some of these musicians' music. You'll enjoy it as you will be more familiar with their music than with them.
Fun to play and watch you to founder 😅😅
Fleetwood Mac was started by Mick Fleetwood and John McVie in the 60s as a blues band in the UK. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckinham who are American joined the band in 1974.
The only thing I know of theirs is Albatross.
Most of these modern lot, I had never heard of.
Christine McVie was the second female singer in Fleetwood Mac, once married to John and British too. She sadly died last year. RIP.
I did pretty good on this. This was fun, you should do more quiz's ! xx
Fleetwood Mac were at their best as a British band! The Peter Green years with Jeremy Spencer..and Danny Kirwan. Some of the best guitar playing you'll hear are on the first albums!
Fleetwood started as a British band and about 7 years later Stevie nicks and Buckingham joined
Depeche Mode come from Basildon, Essex, England....About 10 miles from Me! ....met Dave Gahan loads of times....his first father in law was my boss...The Great Alf Fox! ❤
Guys, love your reactions - makes me proud to be British! Love you exploring the culture, history and heritage of Great Britain 🇬🇧 ❤ so much to enjoy - Merry Christmas to all the family 🎄🎅🤶🏻♥️
Thanks so much! We appreciate you being part of the fam. :) Merry Christmas and happy new year to you as well ❤️
Ha Ha, played along with you Steve and Lindsey and beat you by 13 points. Would be a bit embarrassed if a 56 year old Brit like me lost to my American cousins on the Great British Music Quiz. But you done great guys and so much fun. More quizzes please.😅🤣😂
Stevie Nicks was a substitute singer brought in by the band Fleetwood Mac (named after two of the founders in London) as a replacement.
Happy Christmas 🌲🏴
The same to you ❤️
Shirley Bassey born in Tiger Bay Cardiff. A real show woman
this was a lot of fun to watch.
Trevor Bolder was the Base Guitarist and his wife Shelly looks after my cats when I go on Holiday.
🎄Merry Christmas guys🎅
Oh my Lord.🤣 Has Steve not listened to the radio in his life ?
Not much, admittedly 😂
Yes, America have some iconic good bands but most of the biggest hitters of all time were UK based
elvis costello got him in 3 lol olivers army best song ever xx
You’ll hear Bowie songs & say ‘oh is that him?!’ over & over
I didn't get the Fleet-Wood-Mac one! 👍, Have a good Chrimbo 🎉✌️
If you know your Bond theme tunes then you'll know Shirley Bassey.
