Thank you for explaining how to draft a pattern from this kit. I bought it 15+ years ago and had forgotten how to use it. I also like how you explained how you individualized the pattern for you. Nicely done. 😊
Just received my kit! Have been learning to draft patterns and saw this system -- it has a great assortment of styles (including a few for children and men). Looking forward to drafting a winter coat with one of the Lutterloh selections. Thank you for making this video -- was great to see you make your own adjustments and give us all a good review of the Golden Rule pattern kit.
It's nice to see you altering the design/pattern to suit your requirements. Gives us confidence to do the same 😊 I also like your advice at the end for the level of understanding needed foe this system. Thank you.
I have the golden rule its so very clever and so many patterns also if you want to make up patterns for something you like the look of you can make a block to create your own patterns from this system. Its been around for decades because it works so well. Worth every penny.
Many recommend making a working copy of the pattern miniature to preserve the original. thanks for you demonstration! Your fabric choice was inspired for this dress.
So far my favorite video as I have been hoping for longer videos from you as I could watch you all day. I appreciate great technique and wonderful fabric choices and patterns. THANK YOU! You are simply the best!
I shave African fabric I bought because I love the colors and print but it has been sitting in my stash since the spring because I didn’t know what to do with it. I have seen big dresses and they felt overwhelming because I’m 5’2”. This dress is perfect. Not too much fabric not too big. I have seen the Golden Rule method and have been skeptical. I have lots of patterns I can hack. TFS😊
Love this pattern guide. Still thinking about it. Love all the ideas! Love fabrics too! I've been sewing for a long time. But have done more window treatments. Used to do clothes a long time ago but wanting to get back into it again. Thanks so much for sharing!!!!❤
You'll love it. I bought this system in 1970 and made 2 tuxedo jackets for my sons but didn't read ADD SEAM ALLOWANCE. So the kit sat on the shelf for years. My jackets were perfect for the boys but totally by accident. I thought I was making a jacket for their father but it fit my 10 yr old. I used the 10 yr old's measurements and made the 2nd jacket for the 5 yr old. Since I learned about the seam allowance the only other mistake I've made is forgetting to change the measurement for below the waist. You need the hip measurement for below the waist and bust measurement for waist and above. Those details are in the book. I had jumped in to my project before reading the last page of the instructions. I don't draw my pattern twice. I just add my seam allowance before cutting the pattern. I'm tall so I need arm and leg length adjustments. But, I've not had any issues with any patterns or fit with this system. So much nicer than commercial patterns. Where you get extra pattern pieces. Here you make just what you need. Happy Sewing!
Lol ❤ Your so Cute !! Hopefully one day you could do a sew along.. I’m new to Lutterhol.. new to sewing as well. But Sister Girl, let me beg you to please show us how to put the pieces together.. I will Personally Pay for that kind of instruction..😊
I am so tempted to buy the plus size system! I wish they would say on their website what the size range is for bust and waist. I sent an email to them today to find out. :) This is a great tutorial/review. Thanks!
That dress looks nice and it fits well. I just got the system in the mail the other dsy. I am going to pick a pattern soon. I think i want yo make a dress shirt as my first one. I'm more full figured than you, but we all have different body types and this system seems like some imagination and a little bit of pattern adjusting anyone can find something.
Hi Geri, Love the dress, and you have made it fit so well. I'm fascinated by the math used in this system, especially with the shoulder height to waist ratio. Could I ask how tall you are? Thanks Sweetie!
@@GeriInStitches I am just trying to figure out the real math of the system. It certainly works well for petite ladies who know how to sew! Oh, hey... That bodice was just beautiful. Have you ever thought of using the Burrito Method to sew it all together? It gets the seams enclosed all at once, but I'm not sure what step would be used to attach the straps? The Burrito method is used for shirts with a yoke and it's a wonder to watch! I'm thinking that your bodice is the yoke, to the skirt. It just might work.
Just found your channel. I also purchased the golden rule kit, but have not tried it yet. So glad to see you doing a sew along with the golden rule. Thank you and looking forward to more tutorials on using this kit from you. From watching you I’m not so afraid to take the plunge and create some of their outfits. So many to choose from and they all look great. One question where are you finding how much fabric to use for each pattern? I’m a little lost there lol!
Would you be so kind as to share with us how your sewing area looks like?:) where you sew, pattern, cut, and how you store your stuff?:) i want to create and sew like you but I don’t know how to start my area it feels so messy
I am a real mess when I work, so I'm not sure if my work area is such a great thing to show on video. LOL. I pattern cut on the floor and store my stuff in places that are not really planned for it. We're waiting to give it a better treatment when we move to our new place. And i hear somewhere that messiness is a sign of creative genius. Haha. Stay messy and happy
Hi, I actually don't sell these kits, please go to the link in the description box for details. The website will show many options for kits. All the best! And I'm sure they have international shipping.
the video presented under drugs??? I sew Golden Rule/Goldener Schnitt from Lutteroth and have even the war-time patterns of 1942. I copy the pattern und save the page. Formerly the patterns were in the back of the book, not just behind the shown model.
And I bought mine about 12 years ago so my number 130 in the folder is a different one. I did make something once and it worked...finding time to get back to it!
An excellent demonstration for the Lutterloh System.

Hello! Thanks for the lovely comment. I am 1.58m tall. Hope that helps because I have no clue what determines the shoulder height to waist ratio

If you want a wide dart under bust , how do you adjust it? Thank you

How much fabric really depends on the sewing pattern and your size. For me, I usually get 3-5 meters for a full length dress just in case
