I never knew about the plans to possibly tear down and rebuild the capitol building after 1963, and I'm so happy they didn't. Every one of those monstrous modernist/brutalist building concepts were ghastly. I hope this monument to our great state and its citizens remains a valued and preserved piece of architecture.

There was a proposal to tear down the Florida state capitol and, thankfully, it didn't happen, but they built a new tower behind it.
