We tried one of those a few years ago (the size in the little bag) and naively thought we'd use it on our patio where the flies were really bad. But the smell was so horrible and I recall it seemed to bring in even more flies. It did work but we had to move it to the back of our yard because of the stench. We also tried that Pinterest idea with the sandwich baggie and copper pennies. The flies just laughed at that and landed on it too. I do like your idea of putting those out in the spring and hopefully reducing the breeding population. Now I'd put up with the stink of that fly trap if they made one that got the same kind of results to eliminate squash bugs next year!

Now we know why we weren't bothered so much with flies this summer.....YOU had them all! I made a remark just about a week ago to my husband that we hadn't been bothered with flies this year. I ordered 6 bug hangers that fit on a simple pop or water bottle and we spread them out for wasps and yellow jackets especially. We mixed honey or pancake syrup with water and hung them around in the shaded areas like under the many flower arbors we have. It drew the stinging bugs and the birds also. They went after the bugs! So I will be on the lookout for some of that just in case next year WE in Kentucky get all the flies. That wasn't so gross. I was ready to see a horrific moment lol. Thanks for the video Mrs. H. I wish I had this the last few months. Now it's getting cold enough in the north that the flies are dying off. But, I'll remember this for next year. 👍👍👍👍

I’m in SE Michigan. We’ve been having a mosquito apocalypse since the flooding. I’ll take your flies if I could send you these vampires. Lol. Seriously if anyone has any advice for these mosquitos I’d so appreciate it. We’ve sprayed the cutter yard spray, sevin and fixed the fogger so we could spray some concentrate that mixes with diesel. They are still so horrible

We got some from Wal-Mart the one time deal. It stinks but it sure works. We had to hang it a bit away from front door and back door due to smell. It cut down on flies coming in house.

Thank you for sharing this. We had terrible flies in the early summer but they have waned for now, I don’t know why but glad. The farmer may have sprayed something that helped don’t know but I’m buying some of these traps to go ahead and hang up. We do have chickens and pigs and one cow. So yeah, gonna buy some of them!!

Those things are fantastic. Here in the UK we have a similar product. We don't notice them so much outside but in the summer if the windows are open flies come in the house. We live alongside marshlands, so lot's of flies. We tried all sorts of things for inside the house but nothing really worked well. Put these up outside near the windows and no more flies in the house. They go to the plastic tub instead of coming through the window. Tried a home-made one using a plastic bottle with water and bits if raw meat but it didn't work very well and was pretty disgusting. These are nasty looking but pretty easy to deal with and worth spending the money.

Stinks really bad but I am seeing that the hundreds of large flies trapped inside are less as the smaller flies are now flying inside. Great trap but all need to know and remember it must be placed far away from your door.
