I always enjoy spending time watching your channel. You both have good hearts, good personalities, good common sense, a good sense of humor and good knowledge to share on your projects. Blessings!
I ordered my strike bean seeds from you and I'm amazed at how soon and how much they're producing. They're so tender and not a blemish on them. These will definitely be in my garden for years to come. Thank you so much for introducing them on your videos.
You can call it Henry the Helpful, lol! I understand about locating glasses! I carry a pair in their case in my upper undergarment. The looks I get when reaching for them...Lol!😂 Those beans look great! I like your sunflower hedge-row idea. I do miss the arguing turkey, lol! Most excellent, Peace!
we got so many this year I have stopped harvesting. My neighbors don't want anymore and I can't can or freeze dry anymore due to space restrictions. Feel blessed we got so many
You’re so cute!!! My sister called her Fanny pack- her pocket! Now just try to remember to put your glasses back in 😂 What a beautiful harvest, and I just love hearing all the birds chirping, the rooster crowing…it’s so beautiful. You are truly blessed! Have a wonderful day 🥰
I planted just one for it’s just me. It has provide me about a dozen in a week and a half. I stir fry them with my harvested okra and different eggplants in my eggs and bacon. You wear your hip packet well😊
I love hearing your rooster in the background. Sweet sweet memories. Oh my goodness I just noticed all of tomatoes. I absolutely love fried green tomatoes and okra. 😋
Last year's bean harvests were amazing. I still have beans left over, enough to last until September, or October. This year, I cut back on the number of beans I am growing, and am only growing pole beans. I've made two harvests of yard long beans and Rattlesnake beans so far. They will continue producing well into October. My pole beans are growing up an arched tunnel, 8 feet long. I am able to harvest the beans from inside the shade of the tunnel. It is easier, and a cool oasis in the summer heat.
They’re actually back in fashion now but they’re called cross body packs..instead of wearing on your hips your wear it slung across your chest, over one shoulder and under the opposing arm. I wear mine around camp when I go camping so I don’t misplace my keys phone etc. ❤
Yeah I wear my Fanny pack in the garden to hold cell phone and glasses. My cool sister wears her “cross body pack” when she shops and walks at the track. Lol
It's so funny I've been saying I need a pack to carry my things end up under all the veggies we're picking beans every day because we had to plant 3 times and then the storms our plants are laying down but loaded with Beans but we are thankful for the harvest ! Glad u can find your glasses !
Watched your video before breakfast, and love watching vegetables being harvested. Not doing it much anymore since the loss of my wife of 46 yrs. You asked us to share our favorite variety of bean so here goes. I did a "field test" one year with about 6 varieties of bush beans. I included all the common, well known ones along with some I had never heard of. I found all the different packets in the hardware, feed store, Lowe's, etc to use for my test. I planted them all in the same ground on the same day and carefully marked the rows to identify which was which. As they were growing & getting close to blooming, one bean stood out as having the most healthy looking leaves and large bushy plant. When they started blooming, this variety was way ahead of the others with the number of blooms on each plant. And at harvest, it was the standout superior bean to all others. The bean was "Derby" and became our favorite for the following years until my wife came down with cancer. They just kept producing long after the other varieties had died. They didn't receive any kind of special treatment, just picked when they needed picking. The beans were easy to pull from the plant without fear of breaking the stem off from the main plant. We loved them and highly recommend them. Finding seed in the spring was a challenge and you had to shop early before they were sold out. We began to buy enough seed to last for 2 seasons. By the way, I live in southwest Missouri, and our soil here is usually shallow, at least on my acreage, and not that rich. We did use natural barn fertilizer from hay that we produced ourselves so were not worried about any residual chemicals in the hay or manure.
Hey mrs. H my husband works on a vineyard and I bought him the neck fan you use, it's 106 and 104° he almost passed out from the heat that the fan produces. He said it actually makes him harder so be careful.
I'm happy I'm not the only one that loses my glasses! Especially outside 😆 Those chains didn't work for me, I was always getting it caught on stuff and breaking my glasses. Good choice in the carry all bag! Don't forget to keep some shears in there as well...🤣
Y’all are amazing. Love the hip pack. LOL. I will have to post my sunflower over 9 feet. Way over the privacy fence woooohooo. Team Homestead y’all have an amazing blessed day
Seems we plant more and more green beans each year, since we can't get enough of them! lol The plants are so giving and with constant harvesting they keep providing. Has to be one of the fastest growing- from seed- veggie. Love'em! Also, would be very interested on your mention of possible video on dehydrating bell peppers and best way to store.👍👍Love your videos!
I love you're bonnet my mom always had one on when she was in the garden! I have one of them. She gone now but she her still out there some times in her garden, she loved thing like there. She had one till she was in her 90.
I do appreciate how your mind works. Had never occurred to me advantages of Tall Sunflowers. Dwarf multi-stem for seeds was my focus, but now .. Mammoth & Giant lookin' Good! ..🍒
Wow what a great harvest. Im growing Calima, royalty purple, dragon tongue beans. I do have some blue lake stringless pole beans in with my corn. I like the calima because they are thin and very tasty.
I wear a fanny pack to carry an epipen and phone. Highly allergic to bees and love to garden. Don't want to accidentally wash the epipen since a pack costs more than $600 with insurance by putting it in a pocket.
Love your channel, ran across it a few months ago, have learned a lot from you, thanks to you and your family. God bless you all? I would call the Fannie pack my Hipster.
My garden is mainly containers but I do have some of your Jade beans planted (6). Not ready to pick quite yet bc we had rain and high winds til the end of May which delayed my planting season. I prefer bush over pole beans also.
Rabbits ate most of my beans last year. This year I've covered my 4 x 8 raised bed with insect netting held down around the edges and its working well. The beans are in bloom now so hopefully I'll have some to can.
I simply adored your shows and when Mr. H... shared his knowledge and humor. I have a question. I very much like your "Four wheels, tote Green handle cart"... Where is this cart available for purchase? I would like to purchase one.
Love you guys & your beautiful bountiful garden! My cushaw seed from y'all are growing well. It amazes me how far ahead of us here in the mountains of WNC you are! Makes me anxious to get in my garden & harvest some beans too. God bless!
I have what I call my satchel. It has all my little tools I used around my yard. It's the first thing I grab when I'm going outside. Our green beans are doing so well. Been canning and freezing with more to go. Our peas are coming on and we are so blessed.
I just love those Strike green beans! On your reccomendation, 2 years ago, I bought those. I despise bending over to harvest bush beans. For these I make an exception! I have saved the seeds 2x now and am waiting for this years to produce. They stay so tender, and are such good producers. My other favorite bean is a yellow pole french filet bean called Monte Gusto. They are tender and very proliffic. Im with you and hate librarian chains for glasses, too! I keep mine in my "top pocket" in the middle of my bra. Maybe I should use a belt pouch like you for my phone, as well. Its just that I really love escaping phone calls when I'm out in my happy place.
Thank you for all your helpful video's on gardening ❤️♥️🗝️🇺🇸👏👏👏👏 I'm going to try dehydrated bell peppers as well you have never told us a anything wrong everything you have suggested has always worked I for me
Dealing with another season of struggle gardening. Cant even keep up with the pests, got a daggone fungus on the grapes and had to cut back and treat the apples due to fungus. I really want to give up but...this "life" (growing food) I can't so I enjoy watching yalls harvests tremendously! Happy Gardening everyone!!!
I’m starting my harvest too! Very exciting. Lots of green beans and yellow wax bean’s coming in. Tomatoes popping up on the stems too. One green pepper so far.
That is a great idea. I'm going to get some sunflower seeds. We are jyst starting our growing season where I live. We are finally warm enough to get our garden in. Your garden is so beautiful.
9:00 Hello Mr & Mrs H. Thanks again for the great opportunity of your time and teaching. Your garden is very beautiful and it inspires me to keep trying. I have limited mobility, but i am trying to plant in containers this year. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I have planted Okra, Summer Squash and Tomatoes. They are good in the morning but when the afternoon heat comes along - the Okra tends to droop. ? Don't know what to do. Im in Texas zone 8 for planting. Thanks again for your great show!! VERY NECESSARY no matter what size the garden - your knowledge is AWESOME!
Sister you are such an inspiration and doing an amazing job but I have to following suit with needing one of those hip packs because right now I have a prescription pair that I know is out of my garden somewhere that I cannot find but thank you so much for all that you do and all the love that you show thank you for sharing yourself with us that we may continue to grow healthy food and do do for self that we all may live a long and healthy life peace and blessings to you my sister

Love to have a Bonnet like yours. I wish I had one of my grandma's bonnets or at least a pattern to make myself one with apron to match. Sweet memories there. 😇

Take them to soup kitchen or food pantry. Many blessings everyone.
I plant 3 different varieties of green beans with different maturity times so I don't have so much to deal with all at one time.
You’re so cute!!! My sister called her Fanny pack- her pocket! Now just try to remember to put your glasses back in 😂

Mrs H you need a beach umbrella! It can move along the row with you. Umbrella means shade giver!

Is there a bird nest in your grape vine? Notorious for spreading disease on grapevines.
I just love watching you in the garden and the kitchen! Cant wait to see what you do with your dehydrated peppers. GOD bless

I have been busy with my mom. She is dying in a home. Your garden looks great. I keep you all in my prayers.
We would sow a row every 2 weeks when I was a kid to prolong the harvest.
