One of the best sketch shows of all time in my opinion. Also, only just now noticed how the Spice Girls gift changes to a tin of Quality Street right at the end!
I’ve just remembered this clip and now can’t sleep wondering why he calls her Fortescue Smythe. It’s not her maiden name and I can’t find any link. Unless it’s just cos it’s a posh sounding name??
@@MrJonno85 It's more a play on Posh Spice being posh, and since Fortescue-Smythe is a stereotypical posh surname, it sounded more fitting than Adams. At the time, most people would either think of Bryan Adams or the childrenswear store - neither of which evoke the poshness Frank was hinting at.
I love the dig at Victoria Beckham being referred to as 'Fortescue-Smythe' in one breath and in the next mentioning her father being in the building trade. I remember at the time thinking it odd that so many people actually thought she was 'posh' rather than just nouveau riche.
Fortesque smithe using quarter inch pipe was right, you keep as much of the mains pressure using smaller diameter pipe going up to half inch would give a better flow rate but less pressure
I think that's Frank's point; there's enough pressure from the mains that you can have decent flow rate and high pressure, without the risk of bursting pipes. Smaller pipes are a solution to lower water pressure.
@@booglelations 15mm copper can hold around 55-60bar of pressure, mains at night average for suburban places is around 7bar, he does clearly say “you’ll lose all the pressure”, another thing to consider is when he says “the mains pressure around here” he could mean it’s bad and it was common place then for homes to use gravity fed systems and then it would be 22mm body pipe to 15mm tails for the bath sink etc for the best flow/pressure, if you used 22 to 22 straight to the bath it would fill up quicker because of flow rate but it wouldn’t have as much pressure as 15mm.

I first heard the word "bint" used in The Office..funny as fk
there's always someone in the pub like this.
quality street tins were bigger then
I remember when they were 7lbs tins I think they're about a pound and a half now! Funny the price hasn't reduced though!
Everything used to be bigger, you could live on one Mars bar,for 2 days.
Nostalgia's not what it used to be.
Still makes me lmao all these years later times when this sort of comedy ruled excellent by Harry and Paul
If this was done today Twitter and social media would be unandated with complaints. Sad times we live in now.
Thinking that myself, especially in usa
lol, 'unandated'. Okay pal.
I know, nowadays you can't even post a clip of old comedy without someone complaining that you couldn't get away with it now. Does my head in too.
