Try time release iron, Slow Fe or Geritol. She is severely anemic if she is licking the ice from her hood of the car.. I grew up in Detroit, MI, I dont care how fresh the snow and ice is.
My mother was anemic while she was pregnant with me. She also craved crushed or shaved ice - the chewier the better. While I don’t crave the ice, it is my favorite type of ice.
Pica is any weird craving that can lead to an addiction. It's not just sand and ice. It can be anything.

ice addiction is real. I was anemic as well, but once I solved the low iron issue I no longer craved ice.

Why aren't you doing something about it? There is an over the counter iron called Feosol that does not constipate you. You should try it so you can get healthy :-) Good luck!

Marcel Smith, please DO NOT eat starch. You will run your sugar up and end up with 2 problems. Go to your Primary Care doctor and ask them to draw a CBC to check your hemoglobin. If you are anemic they will put you on iron. There is one over the counter that is great and wont constipate you called Feosol. Please, take care of yourself because anemia can cause you to pass out and die if it gets too low.

What she said is true. I'm anaemic and at one time was really addicted to eating ice. But I really prayed and asked God to take it away, a d I'm so thankful God answered my prayer. Yes green vegetables has lots of iron. And yes to much iron pills can make you constipated, thats why you should eat lots of fruits and vegetables, because they are high in fibre/roughage which prevents constipation. It's very important also that you take Vitamin C with your iron, because it is water soluble Vitamin and helps in the breaking down of the iron
I used to eat the crushed icy snow that would form inside our refrigerator when I was a kid in the 80s. Remember them old fridges? Always needed defrosting. Lol😂
