- Another silly comic that Sam thought would be fun to voice. She was right! Edit: We're aware that Toby himself said, through talk of localization quirks, that Sans is most likely the older brother. Still, the comic remains fairly cute!

I feel like Sans is the older brother, mainly because the height difference gives off a Mario & Luigi vibe. But also because of their attitudes, Papyrus is constantly trying to prove himself to show he's as capable as his older brother, while Sans doesn't give a fuck, likely due to having to put up with Papyrus in his younger years.
+THEGAMEGOD7777 That's a nice way to put it! I love the Mario & Luigi comparison, I hadn't thought of that one, but it's a good example of the "taller doesn't mean older" trope. Papyrus trying to prove himself is also why I often like to think Sans is the eldest of the two, but it's fun to speculate!
Sans is most likely older. I think he's just says Papyrus is cool all the time to humor him, even when he's not around. Plus, Papyrus doesn't seem to have many friends, so Sans might be trying to recruit some.
I adore the voices you give these skelebros. I feel it fits their personalities very well, and it makes them sound adorable.

Darko Hexar They do, but i just like the thought that sans is the older brother. For some reason to me it also logically makes sense. Paps kinda acts like a child and tries to act grown up but just wants to make friends with everyone. Sans on the other hand is very chilled out, he's past that point already.

This link leads to Toby's twitter, in reply to somebody talking about a Japanese version of undertale and what papyrus would call sans. Toby states he would call sans "anaki" a respectful term for "boss" or "older brother."

Sans is 100% the older brother. It's never explicitly stated but you can pretty much tell from their dynamic- Sans is always the one looking out for Papyrus. (That said, this is also partly because, lovable as Papyrus is, he's dumber than a bag of bones.)

I always thought Papyrus was the older brother until reading the wiki, comments, etc. But if Sans is the older brother, they can't be that far apart in age. Both of them show immature and mature qualities.

The way Sans talks about Papyrus when he's out of earshot implies that Sans is younger, but the whole time travel thing might be the reason why he's more "mature" than Papyrus. Plus I just like the "dumber sibling is the older one" dynamic.
If you ask me, Papyrus is the...more naive one ("dumb" is a little too harsh either way) but this actually makes sense. Plus, it reminds me of Yui and Ui from an anime I watched when I was younger. Yui's the older sister, but it seems like it's Ui because of the way she acts (prepares everything for school, picks her sister up, acts more mature and junk). So it would be cool if that's the case. (Regardless of "aniki")

in the Japanese translation of the game, pap uses the term “niichan” which is an immature word to refer to an older sibling

I think Papyrus is older chronologically but, since sans is aware of all the timelines he has matured faster, living through more stuff, basically, than papyrus has. Although...... He might also be adopted, boy king of the humans, or physical manifestation of a god, or all three.

We know that Sans is the older one because, in the official Japanese version of the game, Papyrus refers to Sans using an affectionate term for older brother. Therefore, Sans is the older one and Papyrus is the younger one.

But having once mostly slept through a class where we read a lot about fonts, I think the papyrus font is older than Comic Sans, but I'm also not sure if it's older than 8 bit operator, which is the other font sans uses. It's probably not.
