We need the possibility to create a multi-layered patches, I mean velocity mapping for each key! It would be really cool to see this feature in some of the next updates
Ugh. They'd open an entire world for their users. And, at this price point, it really should be a thing. I'd love to sample my old synth pianos, especially, so i can get rid of the extra weight. They'd crash the market if they opened up the piano library for users! Lol
Of course I watched this right after figuring it out on my own but still learned a few things and this video was really well done. The exporting to correct file type was really useful (would've been smacking my head trying to load a nsmp3 file into my electro 5) and I changed all the levels by ear but I think I'm gonna try that normalize function. Will probably be much more accurate. I was missing some layered mellotron sounds and now I'm all set! Might have to load some granular synth style sounds as well.
Hi Zaffro, if you are looking at sampling other instruments, you may be interested in viewing this video from our SE4 Applications Series: ruclips.net/video/JrOekUgbmhk/видео.html
Excellent helpful video. Is it also possible to import already made samples as wavs or multi samples into the software to add loops etc. without having to use the record function?
If you have influence over Clavia, have them provide much much more sampling memory on the next versions of the stage 3, electro 6, Nord piano 5, and wave 2. Thank you for such a clear and concise demo. And yes it was quite useful. There’s a few sounds that I’d like to sample from my motif series synth. Mainly the distorted guitar sound that I use quite often for soloing and blending with the guitar player.
When will the Nord Stage 3EX and the Nord Electro 7 be released? I look forward to them as the Nord Stage 3 and Nord Electro 6 have been on the market for a while. If I have to invest in a Nord, it's in future keyboards and not those currently existing.
Excellent video. The question I have is: How do I play an entire sample justly pressing the key it is mapped to. The entire sample only seems to play if I hold down the key it is mapped to. Thanks
I see you have the same problem with your Stage 3 and Ultimate stand where it won't fit on the supports due the stupid placement of the Sustain/USB/MIDI jacks
Thank you for this in depth guide. I only have one major problem. When I select "all" samples I can adjust end points and loop regions for all at once. But I cannot change the start point for all together. I select all, but sample start point changes only for the focused sample. Is this a bug?
It's cool and all, but with the amount of memory provided in Nord keyboards, there is no room for deep sampling acoustic instruments. It would also be amazing if we could transfer piano samples into nord piano library to use nord string resonance function on pianos other then the ones from Nord's library.
Quick question for example I want to sample a Yamaha motiv EP called Galaxy EP however it makes a different pitch, orsound on certain keys like the lower keys especially when you press the key a little harder how can we adjust the velocity layer on a single key..Can sampler 4 automatically adjust,or detect that too ,if we record 6-8 strokes from the same key.Does it calculate the velocity or rather key stroke sensitivity and matching sound difference.
Hi, I have an issue importing small loops. When i hit play on sample editor the level of the sound is perfect but when i hit a key on my Nord Wave i get very lower level. Can you help me with that? By the way...excellent job with this.
Electro 6 I would like to add drum samples to the existing Nord samples. Is there a way to do this without resampling the Nord sample? Great tutorials thankyou
I play bass split organ with drum samples, but when playing, sometimes a sample may not be reproduced. this is not cool, maybe I didn’t learn/ nord electro 6d
@nordkeyboards, playing around with the Sample Editor, recording my home upright piano. Initially just a single mic. Therefore, is there a way to simulate stereo, as I didn’t select Mono yet only one speaker (left is playing). Ie play same recording through both speakers??
If you are only using one microphone, then you need to select 'Mono' in the audio preferences before commencing any recording and then the sound will be across both speakers. As you have discovered - if you have stereo selected and record with one microphone, then the audio will only be recorded on the left channel.
All the compatible models are listed in the comments section. If you have an original Piano, then this will not be compatible, purely because you do not have a Sample/Synth section on your instrument. SE4 is compatible with these Piano models: Nord Piano 2/3/4/5
Equal Power Crossfades please? Looping with crossfade works fine on synth tones like the one in the video but it will not work on complex/noise like samples where there will always be a noticable dip at the crossfade. This is because the Nord Sample Editor only offers linear crossfades and not Equal Power crossfades which are needed on samples with a high degree of uncorrelated audio. This is common knowledge and Equal Power Crossfades are present in almost all serious sample manipulation softwares (Wavelab, DSP Quattro for example) and DAWs (Logic, Pro Tools for example). I have no idea why this is not implemented in the Nord Sample Editor, it's a mystery, but it's a huge setback. Especially since I can not manipulate samples outside the editor and have it read loop points generated by editors lite Wavelab either. It's not even possible to enter the loop points manually by number because the Nord Sample Editor won't let me enter loop points at sample precision, it does not even show that value. It would take almost no effort to add Equal Power Crossfade, it's just another crossfade calculation formula and a tick box (could also be a slider to fade between linear and EqP) and it's described in detail on many places like Stack Exchange Signal Processing e.t.c.
Really clear video, thanks @nordkeyboards The only feature missing on the Nord Sample Editor 4 is the "Auto Sampler" that Akai added to its MPCs and Force machines (ruclips.net/video/uUDjrwgKryU/видео.html). It would be easier to sample a "modern" (with MIDI input) synth with this Auto Sampler function, launching precisely and automatically the notes (with different velocities if we want, as a synth can react and sound differently depending on the note velocity) from the laptop/computer. Can it be added to NSE 4?

Thanks for the video. Very nicely explained!.
Amazing tutorial, thank you.
Oh nice, I wasn't aware of the new version. Will download asap for my Nord Stage 3 88.
Question; Where can one get this fabulous NORD jacket? 😍
Very good sample editor software! Nice explanation, user friendly...

I’d love this In Vst format 😢
Very Clear Tutorial!

After watching your video, my question is…can I “convert” or use sound backs created for the Nord electro or Stage 3 for my Nord piano 5?

What's the maximum sample length? It's much shorter compared to NSE 2 right? I find that a bit disappointing.

where can I buy your Nord Hoodie?
very nice tutorial👍👍👍 thanks a lot
(IMHO: the korg sound is f***** annoying 😉🙈)

Guys, how can I setup my Nordstage3 as a midi keyboard for automatization? keys work, but faders don't:(
Can you use any of this with the Nord piano 4?
Yes should be possible
Yes you can. A compatibility list is shown in the video @1:30 and has now also been added in the description box
Does this only work for the stage? I have a nord piano.

Yes, it does. You should see it listed as a compatible model in the description box, above.

Okay, everything is great, but you have forgotten a very important thing that a regular sampler has! Dynamic multi-layer?

Will it work with Electro 6D, please?
yes, nord website has all the info
@@charlescowper If the Nord Sample Editor has been out for a little while now, what prompted you to make a tutorial? I'm genuinely interested!
This really was a very informative and well presented tutorials. The tutor was excellent throughout.
Yes it will. A compatibility list is shown in the video @1:30 and has now also been added in the description box
@@soundtechnology - Thanks for the confirmation. I was watching on a small mobile phone display.
