Diplo messes around in New Orleans as he discovers more about the music in the area. This video is apart of "No One is Safe" a documentary series that is in production.
I love this documentary. I remember when I was younger that guys would do just as much dancing as the girls including going to the high school dances and "pee pop". Bounce music reminds me of home and it's very difficult to explain it to people outside of Louisiana. This was very well done
Haha, you're right. I was worried at first when he met them that Diplo wouldn't know how to address them, but he obviously knows something about respecting others.
Someone who is isn't from the dirty south would think that they are the Same. You are so terribly wrong my friend. Twerking has motions. Bounce is straight shakin'. Na.
Thats weird that they're talking about "sissy bounce" like its brand new. Some of the original bounce artists from way back were openly gay and noone tripped so thats really nothing new.
Heh, i wish this show would have taken off... This was the pilot for the No One Is Safe documentary series that Diplo was working on. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like the people that they were trying to impress (Current) jumped on board with the project.
I was seriously thinking the same thing. I've never heard of Diplo, but saw he is in town next Wednesday so I youtubed 'em. I first watched a video of him on his way to Philly for a block party, describing what he does and how he got into it. He's pretty cool. The DJ thing is totally not my scene but what he was trying to say was. So I watched this vid, same thing-shit I know nothing about, but easy to understand. Its exciting to see someone that's turned on by what he does.
LOL at: 1) "I cant remember the name of the OTHER beat..." Not sure he ever knew the Triggerman Beat--even though his Katrina mixtape had the original Triggerman track on there, yeah! (And for the record, that mixtape was HOT, yeah--so I'm no hater!) and 2) all the comments like, "That white boi fine as Hell..." I thought it, y'all said it! Peace and 50forever, Babybooboos!! XO
It wasn't bounce, sure, but I don't think his goal was to make bounce. He even mentions in the video that bounce starts with one of two sample beats, and I don't think he used either one for Express Yourself, lol. Is it an awesome song though? Hell yeah!
thats what you do. Idk if they are called queens still or divas or whatnot but most times out of respect (which is what diplo is trying to do) you refer to them as females.
okay i got some to say its only one genre its "BOUNCE MUSIC" NO SISSY BOUNCE its only BOUNCE... n everybody do the same dance to da skipp r da rumpshake (pouchin) etc... i love my city dearly son uptown Iberville boyy...
not really.. what pop music did with hip hop is, and what atlanta did with twerking might be(takin it from the N.O.).. but this is just one random producer that appreciates bounce culture.
you had me going until you called them transvestites; I think you meant cross-dresser because in an interview, Freedia identifies as a gay man who likes to wear women's clothes...please do some education and learn that that's not appropriate language. Here's how cross dressing is defined: Cross-Dressing: To occasionally wear clothes traditionally associated with people of the other sex. Cross-dressers are usually comfortable with the sex they were assigned at birth and do not wish to change it. "Cross-dresser" should NOT be used to describe someone who has transitioned to live full-time as the other sex or who intends to do so in the future. Cross-dressing is a form of gender expression and is not necessarily tied to erotic activity. Cross-dressing is not indicative of sexual orientation. (www.glaad.org/reference/transgender) But, then again, you probably should have just asked how they identify. That's always the most affirmative thing you can do!
I love this documentary. I remember when I was younger that guys would do just as much dancing as the girls including going to the high school dances and "pee pop". Bounce music reminds me of home and it's very difficult to explain it to people outside of Louisiana. This was very well done
He is a really good DJ. He is so open minded and blends influence from all over. I love New Orleans! That's my city!
most beautiful documentary about diplo/ bounce music & sissy
I am stoked to see a dude my age who has shit going on professionally and sucks as bad at skating as I do but still skates. Highlight of my night.
This was way more interesting that I thought it would be. Wish there was more :(
He was born in Tupelo,Mississippi and originated in Florida. He moved to Philly afterwards. :)
This guy is extremely forward thinking when it comes to music.

I didn't used to have any reason to think that Diplo is insufferably self-important, but this changes everything.
Express yourself in the making
And found Nicky Da B! He really dug deep in the Sissy bounce!
Gonna see Diplo, thursday in Toronto. Can't wait
Diplo is soooooo cute.
Haha, you're right. I was worried at first when he met them that Diplo wouldn't know how to address them, but he obviously knows something about respecting others.
Diplo's the man.

Great Concept. Lets explore how music can blurr Race, Age, Gender or sexual preference... Whoever said Music was Food for the soul was not far off...
Heh, i wish this show would have taken off... This was the pilot for the No One Is Safe documentary series that Diplo was working on. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like the people that they were trying to impress (Current) jumped on board with the project.

Thumb up if you notice the making of " EXPRESS YO SELF's " concepts in this new orleans video !
Watch Rusty Lazer: Blow Your Head on Potato Will Eat you (Diplo, A-Traks, & Skrillex's channel). They use the song in the documentary.
NOW IT'S TWERK MUSIC IN 2014
I agree with you. The song seemed like he sampled Bounce music didn't really delve in it.
This man.
LOVE NEW OR-------

LOL at: 1) "I cant remember the name of the OTHER beat..." Not sure he ever knew the Triggerman Beat--even though his Katrina mixtape had the original Triggerman track on there, yeah!
