Same, I wish I could say I was an og Xenoblade fan that played before he was added, but I can't. My friend starting playing Shulk for a time, and I thought the monado arts were a really cool and interesting mechanic, so I picked him up and he eventually became my main. I figured I should at least know what game he came, so I ended up getting it.
There's a reason it got 2 remakes. It was one of the best games on the Wii but due to difficulties it almost never got released in the states and has a very small amount of copies made. Fun fact: the reason all the characters had British accents was because this was only intended to be the dub for the EU version. Since it almost got canceled in the states they just used the pal dub and now European accents are a staple of the xenoblade series.
I actually didn't know a bunch of characters before Smash. Snake, Ice Climbers, Captain Falcon, Pit, any Fire Emblem character in Melee and Brawl (but that's understandable)
Im playing through the actual Xenoblade game and its amazing, The acting is so good and the story is deep, it actually has you develop feeling for Shulk. Probably one of my favorite games and characters. Playing it make him make more sense to me in smash
Shulk, Reyn, and Melia is actually not a very good party combination. The AI is pretty bad at playing Shulk, and the AI is god awful at playing Melia, so if you have one of them in your battle party you pretty much need to be controlling them. Having Shulk and Melia together in the party isn't the greatest idea because inevitably one of them is gonna be on the AI.

Are people really mad that there are too many sword characters? It's a game about iconic game characters. Swords are equally iconic in games. Shulk appears to be quite unique for that matter, the Monado only barely qualifies as a sword, only because there is no better word for "bladed energy-based melee weapon with a handle." He isn't another clone.

I was completely blindsided when I played DE myself. Smash made me think that Metal Face was a goofy, Dr Eggman-like villain. My jaw hit the floor when he killed Fiora. And don’t even get me started on the true final boss.

Me too. I thought it was just "British people on giants; the game" which... admittedly, yes it is, but dear God. I missed so much. Shout out to Chugaaconroy for getting me in this franchise. My only regret is being 10 years late to the party. But, eh, better late than never.
More like underrated if you ask me. If you do a bit of searching on the history of Xenoblade and the studio behind it MonolithSoft you'll come to realize that it's almost a miracle the series has made it this far. Nintendo and Sakurai definitely helped alot here to push this franchise and I must say I now see why they had so much faith in it. Even before this reveal, Xenoblade Chronicles was considered a great game and one of the best Rpgs ever made by most of the people who had played it. However it was still a pretty nieche franchise and only through this and the more recent releases it finally managed to break into the upper echalon of Nintendo franchises together with Fire Emblem which also went through plenty difficulties to reach this point.
Honestly, as someone who has followed the Sonic series for a long time, how in the world are people mistaking Metal Face's voice for Dr. Eggman? They don't sound ANYTHING alike!

7 years ago from today Shulk was shown off for super smash bros 4. Many people were into xenoblade, without Smash 4 I wouldn've played the amazing game known as xenoblade. This is were the "I'm really feeling it" had an impact on the world.
After starting definitive edition I really love that Shulk is in smash. Cause before I had no Idea who this random guy was. Now I see him in the right place where he belongs
Here's my story. Bowser was on a picnic, strolling through the beautiful lands of Gaur Plains, when shulk came out of nowhere and "backslashed" bowser, leading to the death of king koopa. A couple seconds later Bowsers friends Marth and Link attempted to Avenge their best friend, Bowser, but shulk did not let that happen and mercilessly killed them both. Shulk is a bad guy

The hate Shulk is getting is from ignorance and if you owned a Wii, there is no excuse to not know who he is and what great RPG he came from (Which was also part of Operation Rainfall to get 3 games Nintendo were not going to bring to the West). Fans caused a shitstorm to bring this game overseas. It finally happened and we got to play 3 amazing RPGs....HOWEVER, none of these ungrateful people bought the games it seems. Comments like" Who the fuck this?" really irritate me especially after how deep Xenoblade's story was. The concept of that game was unique as hell with the landscapes humanity lived on being actually sleeping gods. Absolute no reason to hate on this character and the "boring generic swordman" argument is flawed due to how innovative he was in Xenoblade. He had personality, extreme emotions during the adventure, and gained all his popularity due to evolving and adapting in the game. His abilities improved more each time a big event happened or a death. He deserves a spot in Smash and any hypocrite who was excited for Xenoblade 2 (Mainly due to Nintendo's E3 gameplay), but didn't know who Shulk was needs to silence themselves. The hate is mostly coming from people who probably never owned a Wii, but creeps into Nintendo related videos. Hell, The Pokken game had comments of people talking about bringing it to other consoles, which you KNOW pokemon is mainly on Nintendo consoles. I own all systems as well btw, so that fanboy logic won't help with ignorant remarks.

After playing Xenoblade Chronicles, Shulk became my favorite video game character of all time and my dream Smash character. When I saw the trailer, I almost couldn’t believe it. I was loud throughout the whole trailer I almost lost it. I never thought he would get into Smash, but they did it
Marth has more skill and fighting experience. Long story short, you can have all the powers in the world, but if the other guy is stronger with better fighting skills, you'll loose. Shulk is strong with great Monando. Marth has taken out foes much stronger than Shulk with ease.

I really really love Xenoblade Chronicles, it's my favorite RPG on wii.... I read that a lot of people don't like him at SSB, but if you have played Xenoblade you would understand why he deserves being in SSB! Xenoblade is just a master piece of RPG games.
The only reason people are against him (and there are far more people who want him than there are against him) is because he uses a sword. For whatever reason people don't want sword characters but they're okay with punching and kicking characters.

Shulk is by far my favorite newcomer to the series! I really enjoyed Xenoblade back when it came out and I'm happy to see the Monado-Boy in Smash Bros!
This. This trailer right here is what began this amazing series’ come back. After this Xenoblade would go from a one-off game to a massive successful franchise that millions of people enjoy. And that all started with getting the IP into the mainstream via Smash. So I’m really grateful to this trailer for that.

When this trailer was released, I thought Xenoblade was so overrated, but fast foward to today, and it’s one of my all-time favorite Nintendo series!
Me too. I thought it was just "British people on giants; the game" which... admittedly, yes it is, but dear God. I missed so much. Shout out to Chugaaconroy for getting me in this franchise. My only regret is being 10 years late to the party. But, eh, better late than never.

More like underrated if you ask me. If you do a bit of searching on the history of Xenoblade and the studio behind it MonolithSoft you'll come to realize that it's almost a miracle the series has made it this far. Nintendo and Sakurai definitely helped alot here to push this franchise and I must say I now see why they had so much faith in it. Even before this reveal, Xenoblade Chronicles was considered a great game and one of the best Rpgs ever made by most of the people who had played it. However it was still a pretty nieche franchise and only through this and the more recent releases it finally managed to break into the upper echalon of Nintendo franchises together with Fire Emblem which also went through plenty difficulties to reach this point.

Me playing Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition atm. Thank you Sakurai San for introducing me to this amazing jrpg game. Smash made me buy and play Persona 5, Dragon Quest 11 & now Xenoblade Chronicles. I love JRPG games and yeah Fire Emblem Three Houses will be my next game very soon.
7 years ago from today Shulk was shown off for super smash bros 4. Many people were into xenoblade, without Smash 4 I wouldn've played the amazing game known as xenoblade. This is were the "I'm really feeling it" had an impact on the world.

I honestly feel bad for Bowser in the beginning. I know he's evil, but he wasn't looking for trouble.
Here's my story.
Bowser was on a picnic, strolling through the beautiful lands of Gaur Plains, when shulk came out of nowhere and "backslashed" bowser, leading to the death of king koopa.
A couple seconds later Bowsers friends Marth and Link attempted to Avenge their best friend, Bowser, but shulk did not let that happen and mercilessly killed them both.

The hate Shulk is getting is from ignorance and if you owned a Wii, there is no excuse to not know who he is and what great RPG he came from (Which was also part of Operation Rainfall to get 3 games Nintendo were not going to bring to the West).
Fans caused a shitstorm to bring this game overseas. It finally happened and we got to play 3 amazing RPGs....HOWEVER, none of these ungrateful people bought the games it seems. Comments like" Who the fuck this?" really irritate me especially after how deep Xenoblade's story was. The concept of that game was unique as hell with the landscapes humanity lived on being actually sleeping gods.
Absolute no reason to hate on this character and the "boring generic swordman" argument is flawed due to how innovative he was in Xenoblade. He had personality, extreme emotions during the adventure, and gained all his popularity due to evolving and adapting in the game. His abilities improved more each time a big event happened or a death.
He deserves a spot in Smash and any hypocrite who was excited for Xenoblade 2 (Mainly due to Nintendo's E3 gameplay), but didn't know who Shulk was needs to silence themselves. The hate is mostly coming from people who probably never owned a Wii, but creeps into Nintendo related videos. Hell, The Pokken game had comments of people talking about bringing it to other consoles, which you KNOW pokemon is mainly on Nintendo consoles.
I own all systems as well btw, so that fanboy logic won't help with ignorant remarks.

Marth has more skill and fighting experience. Long story short, you can have all the powers in the world, but if the other guy is stronger with better fighting skills, you'll loose. Shulk is strong with great Monando. Marth has taken out foes much stronger than Shulk with ease.

The only reason people are against him (and there are far more people who want him than there are against him) is because he uses a sword. For whatever reason people don't want sword characters but they're okay with punching and kicking characters.

This. This trailer right here is what began this amazing series’ come back. After this Xenoblade would go from a one-off game to a massive successful franchise that millions of people enjoy. And that all started with getting the IP into the mainstream via Smash. So I’m really grateful to this trailer for that.
