@Skriggler its not just math though. When you start baking beyond brownie mix you get from the store it definitely becomes more complicated. Hell they showed a good example in this video where even the store bought had separate instructions based on altitude. Theres a lot more to take in account than just how much to pour in. Just like with cooking theres levels to this

It also doesn't really make way ingredients more dry, not like flour does for example. I'm pretty sure it helps draw fluid out of more solid foods like apples.
Sugar is a dry ingredient but you're supposed to cream it with your wet ingredients, butter, eggs and vanilla, before adding the wet mix to your dry ingredients.
