Having just been introduced to the Loughborough carillon through Portillo's Bradshaw's Guide travels in the TV show where a snippet of the Elgar piece is featured, I'm delighted to hear it in its entirety. I will be sharing this & the story amongst friends. It is a great example of the People's Long Memory that I hope will neither be lost through apathy nor rank commercialism.

    Hello Rudi,
This piece is to be played at a special service on July 26th, at the Loughborough Carillon. The manuscript to this music was lost by the local Council, but then found (through a freak chance). Now this unique piece of music and its brilliant creator can be celebrated in all it's full glory.

    Dear Rudi,
I was also wondering how you heard about this piece of music and what you know about the history behind this piece and the fact the manuscript got lost.
The reason I ask is that I am a Councillor for the area where the Carillon is and I am leading some investigations into the story. I am looking to create a hand - bell ringing competition, to be staged in the Town annually, in memory of Elgar, the Carillon and the Town's Bell Foundry.
    Thank you.
