I grew up in the 1950's with my parents listening to his music, and it became my favorite even today at age 74.

A bombardier on a Lancaster British Bomber admitted on his deathbed a bomb had struck Miller's plane by accident as the Lancaster bombardier unloaded it's bomb ordnance prior to returning to base, a routing procedure. The crew sworn to secrecy withheld the truth until the last living crew member revealed the truth about Miller's tragic, accidental demise.

The Norsemen was a metal framed, fabric covered aircraft. It would be pretty torn up in a crash and fabric does not last long in the sea nor do bodies.

His plane was sadly hit by bombs being jettisoned from a abandoned bombing mission by the RAF. Millers plane was flying low.

Glenn Miller's plane was NEVER found. You need to read Dennis M. Spragg's book "Glenn Miller DeClassified" for the true story of what really happened.

In the early 60's on BBC Radio 2 , a band member of Millers overseas orchestra . Revealed some interesting stuff . When it was decided that Miller and co. would go to England , a number of musicians resigned , scared of being bombed . It was this that gained the interviewee a place in the band , He said that jobs were hard to come by in NY and playing for Miller would be good for his CV though he added he wasn't a fan of the music , thought it boring.
I saw the film and typical of Hollywood full of syrup , Benny Goodman was far better and actually played Jazz .

Tighar thinks that he landed on a remote island 400 miles away and lived out his life in exile singing the blues.

The most credible scenario backed up by a member of a returning aircraft from a bombing mission, is that he reported to the pilot hearing something when they released their unused bomb load.,due to poor weather over the channel before landing
