Woher Sind Wir Geboren? - Where were we born from? From Love

The title and lyrics are a poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe written for Charlotte von
Stein, a writer and close friend of his who had a great influence on his work. Goethe and
Charlotte had an intimate relation that was, for the most part, a true marriage of minds and
span for many years. The poem was included in one of the 1500 letters he wrote to her.
My intention in this composition is to honour the beauty of the poem with a musical score
that compliments the intensity of the feelings and the reiteration of “Lieb-Love” as central to
the human experience.
