  • This was probably one of the worst days on my around-the-world trip. After an insect bite, I developed a bad allergic reaction and couldn't open my eye. But I needed to get out of the woods and I tell ya - riding with one eye open ain't easy!

In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.
Throughout my journey, I'm raising money for a young disabled child in Poland named Franek. Franek was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (weakness of the entire right side of the body) and he will require constant rehabilitation for the rest of his life. All the money raised will go directly to helping Franek and his family lead as normal a life as possible so please donate generously: gogetfunding.c...

So sorry to see you in this state, Kinga.
The highs and lows of motorcycle ADV riding are just that - some real highs and then sometimes, a series of real lows!
I was riding up the Dempster Highway in 2017 and had my visor up for better visibility (no goggles) and a passing truck flung gravel into my left eye, causing a scratched cornea.
I had to ride all the way from just north of Fort McPherson to Inuvik with just one eye functioning on that slippery gravel - no faster than 70 km/h!
Arrived in Inuvik and checked into the hospital where they flushed my eye, inspected it, and gave me some drops to apply.
Like you, I had to spend a couple of days resting (in my case in my tent), but eventually it got better.
I'm with you on the fact that riding also can begin to exhaust you, and sometimes a break of a couple of days off the road does wonders!
Best wishes and I hope you are doing well and having fun in Kiwi land.
    Cheers

There is no shame in letting go of plans and Schedules. Find a good place to stay, get well, get rested, get perspective. A motorcycle hauler, or fan with a trailer can jump you across the country easily in only a few days. You can re-plan something nice for your remaining time - with NO Pressure. In flying planes, Get There-Itis precedes deadly accidents very often. Your inner voice is telling you this is Dangerous, Not Fun. One of us will help you, if you ask. Whatever the plan was.. Ditch It...

I took a bad bug bite to my neck/chin a few months back. Hate to think what would have happened if it was near my eye. Had about a 2 square inch opening between by jacket and helmet. Bug had good aim. Hurt like heck for a few days. You are back to looking good. Enjoy your USA tour.

I'm so sorry your Montana experience was not remarkable and Beautiful. As you know from your Canadian Rocky mountain travel days, the whole of the Rocky mountain chain must be enjoyed regardless of weather. Personally I wish you could get to the cultural activities like Pow Wow on or near any of the reservations. Montana's summer rodeo season also brings good times.
Thank You for taking God's advice to slow down and take care of yourself. We tend to want to push through pain and some times it's just God's way of making us take care of ourselves and I for one am very happy you are well and recovered without further problems.
Much Love and Respect for you Miss Kinga, You are in my prayers

Long distance traveling can be incredibly rewarding, but can also be quite draining. Watching videos of day long travels condensed to a half hour or less makes it look like all fun and games but doesn't capture the fatigue and stress that comes with it. I admire your zeal for what you do and have tremendous respect for how you do it! I know your break is your current goal, but that too, will be replaced by the next adventure! Safe travels!

Dear Kinga, I can understand that you are tired after chasing around the world for six years. I ask myself why does she do it. Why deprive yourself of a normal family life for many years just to produce U-tube footage? Perhaps it pays extremely well. I don't know. I myself travelled extensively by motorcycle but only for specific trips and excursions, after which it was back to normal. I advise you to go home and take a rest because lately your videos have not been inspiring nor enjoyable.

Surely you have bad days in your 'normal family life' and so do I on the road. I'm showing you how it is - the good days and the bad days. If you don't enjoy it just watch something else.

OmGosh Kinga! That was one nasty bug bite, obviously one you were sensitive to. As a Veteran Pharmacy Tech of 24yrs, I replied to you on the TV "oh no dear, do not apply that cream anywhere near your eye".... Oy, If you could only HEAR (of course it would be very late). Haha but STILL.
I'm so sorry that happened, I'm also a Rider and having your peripheral vision compromised ( when not used to it) is DEF a struggle! Thank God you were close to a Town with a Pharmacy AND Hotel for you to stay in. I think also it was a "sign" for you to just stay put and wait for the rain to stop. I hope you did.
LOVE your comment at the end! Benadryl truly IS the most effective AND least sensitivities to, Antihistamine!! Please, always keep that type with you! The generic is fine too (Diphenhydramine) . I'm ready to see your next video now.
Excited for your New Zealand one's as well. I hope you're staying healthy and refreshed!! ❤🌷🙌✝️✨

My wife and I rode that pass last year. From the hot springs, it's an amazing 99-mile road of twisties heading south towards Idaho. There isn't much along that road, other than the Lochsa Lodge with the only fuel stop. She probably went north to Missoula to stay a couple nights. Which is about 10 miles or so from hot springs. I wouldn't want to head down through that pass with one good eye.

Bad bite. I didn't know you were so close to my stomping grounds when you rode through. Had plenty of room for you to recuperate as my guest. Missed ya! 😊

My wife got a bite on the eye lid but we ended up at the emergency room, and it took a week for the swelling to come down, fast forward two months and she still has a bit of scaring. We all think it was a spider or some sort of mite. Glad you're safe and looking cute as ever 😉

I feel for you! I’ve been bee stung at least 3 times while running down the road. One on my eyelid, one in my nostril and once on the lip. Nearly crashed all three times. Benadryl helps and an ice pack helps too.
