I typed my dad as an ISTP (I'm an INFJ by the way). This types seems to fit him very well because he is a carpenter and just very good with getting stuff done in that sense. He gets very perfectionistic with his work and will do stuff right the first time. I've noticed that the way he shows love is by building stuff for other people. Like I ask my dad to build me a shelf for my books and he jumps to the job right away. I think its a very healthy expression of his Harmony function, it makes us all happy in the end. I'm an ISTP that usually tests as INTP. There is an obvious bias towards intuition on tests, but I think it's also that I've developed my tertiary intuition over my years. I listened to a few of your podcasts about intuition and quickly realized that my form of intuition is Ni and not Ne. Then I saw a video from INTJ and INFP coffee where they tried to convince someone that they were ISTP highlighting the difference (Ne/Si vs Se/Ni) and it made total sense to me. i'm an istp and this is so accurate it hurts. i'm studying nursing but have intent to become a paramedic (hello dream job) and i went into medicine for this exact reason - the human body is the coolest mechanical and biological system!

I've noticed that we ISTP girls are very unusual. Most girls are talkative and bubbly and clumsy and always talking about boys. I'm totally the opposite. I'm a second degree black belt in tae kwon do (and no to brag but I'm pretty good) you guys were talking about precision and we understand how the body works and now it makes sense for me to be quite good at martial arts knowing I'm an ISTP. Nick Hanlon I’m an ISTP girl married 17 years to an ISTP guy and everyday gets more and more awesome. He totally gets my need to be alone because he is exactly the same way. Our quality time is hanging out on the bed or couch together side by side with headphones in. We have our own friends and our own lives and come together at the end of the day. We live parallel lives and both of us need that. HATE needy people it totally sucks the life out of both of us. We have 2 kids and one is an ISTP like us and the other is an ISFP. Our home life us super chill and not a lot of yelling or really a lot of controlling. Because every single one of us rebel against being controlled.
I'm an ISTP female too.... I never took up formal fighting classes of any style (did one karate classs but dropped out because I didn't like my sensei) but I did get into a lot of physical fights with my bullies all through school life (at least one beat down a week) I taught myself how to fight by playing sports and reading books on anatomy and animal psychology. Other than fighting style I can totally relate to everything that you said.
I’m just a schoolteacher. I love teaching especially those who are teachable. I cannot for the life of me imagine sitting behind a desk all day. Although I will admit it’s a little hard being surrounded by emotional INFJ teachers all day . It’s true. I care what others think of me even though I might not seem as if I do. Competency and meritocracy is very important to me.
I keep scoring as ISTP. But, (and I wonder did anyone else have this issue as an istp) I am split between ISFP. In my personal relations thinking in a small group of a few people I feel I’m a isfp. In life and everything else I’m istp. What is that? I doubted my ISTP because when I hear “mechanical” I keep thinking engines cars..and I don’t know how to take those machines apart, I’m sure if I had the opportunity I could but just don’t. this video helped because I am interested in the brain and body and research or data and taking it apart putting that together and understanding those functions deeply never through if it before as mechanical. Mechanical kept throwing me off lol.. but that makes sense. I’m still split i dont know? Can one be both? I make sense from a logical place I could be seen as a fact gathering cold place bottom line but when my heart is involved I don’t. And I care very much about humanity and others too, I show it differently. And often get misunderstood as rude when I care deeply... is that fitting?
I have a childhood friend who's an ISTP and this description is INCREDIBLY true. The machinery thing (he was always crazy about cars), the natural talent for practical stuff, everything. I can't believe how there are intelligent people who don't believe in the existence of the MBTI types. It's so damn obvious that they exist.
defo need to get out of my head space and into my body space more. literally can overthink a situation to the point where it's not true and i apologise to someone for my behaviour when they weren't mad at me in the first place lol
I'm a Psychologist and ISTP. We are great at handling emergency situations with fast and decisive action. We are considered a bit arrogant and hubris driven, but hide it very well. I am extremely empathic and can determine and analyze people and situational events very fast. Compassion is a tool rather than a emotional response. When a ISTP says 'I have your back' they quite literally will sacrifice everything to protect someone. Yea, Batman Syndrome.. It can get that severe. A ISTP personal ethos does get them into dangerous situations. They are are naturally afraid of being harmed but have a tendency to work outside the box. Laws, judgments, and authority means very little to a.intense ISTP because they see behind the hypocrisy of man made rules. They have their own rules. They form their own judgments. They decide (within fully legal terms) what is good or bad. A priest friend of mine is a ISTP. When I attempt to draw him into a philosophy debate about religion, God, or whatever because I rather enjoy taunting his intellectual prowess (in extremely gentle ways) he says what all ISTPs do, "Im right. Your a just a radical Agnostic who thinks he's smarter than God and his ineffable ways. My sources say, Purgatory was especially reopened just for you!"... ISTPs are rather funny when getting together, like two Bull's butting heads. They DO NOT speak this way with other people because (1) we don't actually enjoying hurting people emotionally or psychologically and (2) have an imate desire to sincerely help anyone in distress. Its some sort of weird genetic, sociological, blah blah blah thing. Obviously, there are different versions of the ISTP personality. Did I mention we are always right about everything until proven completely idiotic? Lol.
One year after knowing about all this MBTI stuff, I became very close to a really stereotypical ISTP. This description is perfect. He's fascinated about cars, race and stuff. The stereotypes don't say everything about the types, but they also make some sense.
ISTP-A I notice that in times of chaos and panic, thats where I shine the most. I never waste any time and always act on impulse(could be my ADHD aswell). My impulsivity also got me into trouble tho 😂😂. Always was into helping others who where weak, whether it'd be someone getting bullied or someone who needed physical help. If I where the one getting picked on or bullied I always ignored the person or persons. Of course it hurts, but as I matured I dont give two shits because I know who I am and what I stand for. The stereotypical istp"mechanic" is not always true, but I noticed that I'm a fast learner when it comes to physical activities, whether it be fighting, dancing, instruments or anything that us ISTPs can experience first hand. When it comes to "feelings" that shit can be hard asfuk to deal with in my opinion. Especially when someones chewing our ears off it can be a volcanic experience. Meaning we will blow the fuk up and tell u ur truths!!. I try not to do this,so I tend to work out alot to release negative energy. I myslelf been thinking about learning how to fight "properly",like joining a fighting gym of that sort. When it comes to "love" that shit can be a roller coaster. Iam very direct, with women and I think I tend to intimidate most women. I also tend to talk alot of smack to the women I like😂. Also alot of play arguments😂 Some will know its play, some will take it serously, but that just tells me whos worth my time. I also notice that I'm that stereotypical cowboy ISTP like in western movies, the movements, squinting, etc.😂
i am very confused , i tested over 40 times in different pages with 100% INTP result , but i recognize hudge connections with ISTP descriptions as well
Rhema B Thanks for the comment. All of the perceiving processes are nicknamed after how they learn. There were so many nicknames to choose from for each process, some ‘sounding’ more right than others. Ultimately, though, we decided upon the word that best fits the etymology of how the process works (in the case of learning) and what the process is trying to accomplish (in the case of decision-making). You can read a much more technical explanation here: www.personalityhacker.com/call-myers-briggs-genius-styles (comment responses have some good stuff also)
I behave like I don’t care about my reputation, partly as a way to rebel and be free, but I do secretly care about my reputation at least a little bit. But that desire to be free is much stronger.
Which of these job options best represents the ISTP personality ... the skilled independent problem solver wants to know if there are only two options for a mechanic or an electrician ...? give a logical reason, thank you for being willing to answer, god bless you
eerie when u said sensing of temperature, i can tell the temperature when i go outside within 2 degrees. im very cut and dry and it rubs so many ppl the wrong way. i just think its pointless to laugh if i dont want to or to top everything wit sugar. im probably the nicest person but i dont show it often, if at all, and i dont blame ppl for not hanging around to see that side. sometimes i think i could have said somethin with a little more light to it but if u cant get through the first part of my personality then what use r they really
I cant sleep at night its so hard for me i get so restless i feel like inside my mind that my legs and arms are vibrating wildly and therefore i want to move them so bad coz i get so restless so its so difficult for me to sleep but eventually if i stay im bed long enough i goto sleep anyways but its so hard for me to GET INTO A BED BECAUSEE I HAVE TO LIEEE FOR SEVERAL minutes or hours and hope to fall asleep even doe i get so restless
I had to laugh at the zombie apocalypse comment. I'm an ISTP and one of my closer friends told me that they want me in their clan in the event of a zombie apocalypse. They requested this after I told him that I would be looting the local camping and fishing store to get the essential survival tools to live around the zombies. (This puzzled them until I pointed out that food can be found and grown easier than getting the right tools right off the bat. Especially if lots of people are panicing and looting all at once)
I couldnt find the video about ISTP's mind wiring as there were about other types, or any other information about growth for this type, are there any resources on this topic?:)
I don't care about my reputation consciously but if I do wonder what people thing based in rumors I just figure I'm consistent enough they will know the truth and I don't worry about it.
(sorry for my bad english)in your test and others my result was ISTP but others tests my result was INTP something like 2 test intp and 2 test istp ¿its normal? , but i feel more like a INTP , i dont like take risk for example , but i dont know why in some test my result was ISTP ,
As an ISTP, i tend to question people's mind, starting as raw as :"Why would someone ever love eating Kimchi? Are they just forcing themselves or keep telling themselves that they love korean culture, hence making themselves love eating the food, or show the world that they do, and be sorta proud of it? Is that one of the ways that they find their identity?" These thoughts were emerged after tasting how BAD kimchi is to me. I believe as an ISTP too, i will sometimes seek for confirmation in order to fit the people around me. Sometimes it would just seem weird to some people when i do. Hence I am trying to seize this chance and ask fellow ISTP's, do you experience similar things with what i did? I will appreciate your replies.
Xyvier XyV I don't really feel any pressure to conform to those around me if that's what you mean but I definitely have thoughts like the kimchi tangent on a daily basis. And I have always thought the same thing about sourkraut hahaha
yeah they do eat it all the time but they don't love it you know. what they love more is chicken and meat. kimchi is more like a bean next to a steak. you'll eat it since its there but doesnt mean you love it. if you see some stuff saying that korean loves kimchi, well you should know thats just a government's marketing strategy.
This "accuracy/sensation" thing seems to be an another way to describe Introverted Thinking (Ti) and Extroverted Sensing(Se). I find that Ti is kinda nit-picky about some details because it wants accuracy to be as correct as possible. And that co-pilot thingy is what the community call a Ti-Ni loop where the ISTP kind of ignores his Se and uses his Ni with his Ti and receiving no info from Se. I am a ISTP by the way.
You're right. It is Ti and Se we are talking about. Here's an article that goes into more detail: www.personalityhacker.com/call-myers-briggs-genius-styles/ Thanks for your feedback.
I wonder how many ISTPs score as INTP......me.....but, I definitely fit the ISTP description.....not to demean myself, but I have been super-jocky all my life (decathlete). I understand machinery and bow-hunt, spearfish (in my handle), totally into being "off-grid" (extreme independence) , etc. When I watch other INTP videos, they seem too slow speed for me...yet, I consistently score INTP. I totally relate to the paranoia thing. Had lots of trouble with that when I was younger.
i got 50/50 score on judging vs perceiving. how could that happen ? but i feel like im more istp because yeah, like they said i never have a enough courage to said whats in my head and yea i care a lot about my reputation, how could that be so much sifferent from istj ?
I am tomboyish, i love things that challenge my guts or pump my adrenaline. So i like driving fast, or other activities that really challenge me. I go nuts over certain things that i find outrageous or out of proportion or just morally unacceptable. I do care a lot about my reputation, yes. Don't look down at me and think i can't do it cuz i can. I'm sort of "challenge accepted" person, in other words, if people challenge my guts, they better be prepared for the outcome because i most likely will prove them wrong or show them something and shut them up altogether. I'm a female ISTP. I was really good at sports, had an athletic body too. People who see me first time will think i am intimidating but I'm really not lol, i am the most laid back, chilled person you'll ever know. Except in relationships. Lol. If i care a lot about someone, i tend to be obsessed about them. I need to work on it. Being analytical in the mind, i never rest on analyzing. So yeah, it's kind of destructive. I have zero care, or very little concern about people's feelings, i only know how to express mine.
I think I am an ISTP but one thing doesn’t quite match - I often hear that ISTPs tend to say things without considering other’s feelings and I don’t see that in myself. Is this really true? I tend to think things sometimes that if I said them may emotionally impact someone because it might not be something they want to here. (Like a logical prediction about the future if a bad habit persists.) However, I stop myself and don’t say it. I match other aspects of the ISTP but I don’t see myself running around negatively emotionally impacting those around me due to no filter on what I say. How about other ISTPs out there? I think I am an ISTP but am definitely not a jerk ^_^
I am stuck between intp and istp I mean I have both of them like a month or 2 ago I took the test and it told me I was intp and I could relate to that it was all so true and now I am getting this istp and I am like no no no I want to be the least common as possible which the intp ( like how they want to be least common) has but when I read a website and watch this I am like this is also true I mean I have been a mechanic type of person. I play with stuff all the time just get tape making stupeff out of cardboard. like I mean a couple years earlier when it was like 2010 or earlier I have just been like getting nails just stiking them in wood and this was like when I was 6/7/8. I used to break all the toys I would get. so if you know any thing about this please reply
Pretty good. I don't think Myers briggs is all to good for me. I've always identified as ISTP when referencing jungs cognitive functions, but in these videos and myers briggs I relate to ENTJ a hella lot more than ISTP.
It's because as an ISTP you can easily see the "mechanics" behind the music. I'm an ISTP myself and listen to every genre of music possible because my ear breaks down the drum beat to the synth being used, even the lyrics. Lyrics are so much fun to break down to me, to the words to the consonants being used in each line. It also is an instant cure to boredom cause there's always a new song or artist to listen to.
i think i use my ten year old 2 much when i just think about things too much like i litterly talk to my self in my head, i am not sure if this is the 10 year old but if it is than reply couse i need help tell me if other people have this or no plz
Do you think you would? I can’t see myself doing the same boring intellectual job everyday, but if you think you can do it, just go for it. Don’t do things based off what other people say, do what you feel like doing.
I got a question. for example in a war.. like ww2.. which type of personality would most likely to survive interogation and torture in the war prison camp once they are captured by enemy? which has higher chance come out alive? i think ISTP had the least chance to live.
I believe it depends on the person not the type because someone could be infp and come out sane and someone could be istp and break down (highly unlikely).
Not to mention that being an ISTP, i have mood swings, and people think i am bipolar but I'm not. I'm completely normal lol. Its because i live in the moment, which not everyone realizes that.
Hey guys, I appreciate your videos and explanations about the types. There is a lot of theory behind MBTI and to be honest I still don't fully understand how it works. I guess I'm the type, that really dislikes long explanations :) At the same time, in my opinion, your quiz is actually quite bad. I took it 3 times in the last few years and my impression every time is the same. With other tests after little thought and looking back at my experiences, I can give a confident answer. In your quiz, some questions leave me perplexed, because they are too broad and ambiguous.

3) Sentimental- This may come as a surprise to many, but we are very sentimental, you just don't see it when we are, we hid our emotions well, and will do what we have to do, but after that, we feel terrible

Yep, ISTP girls are unusual. We care about feelings but the feelings that came from a thoughtful and logical person.

Lol.
Let me clarify somethings as an ISTP. We do care about our reputation/people but relative to other people we care alot less.
One year after knowing about all this MBTI stuff, I became very close to a really stereotypical ISTP. This description is perfect. He's fascinated about cars, race and stuff. The stereotypes don't say everything about the types, but they also make some sense.
ISTP-A
I notice that in times of chaos and panic, thats where I shine the most.
Also alot of play arguments😂
Some will know its play, some will take it serously, but that just tells me whos worth my time.
I also notice that I'm that stereotypical cowboy ISTP like in western movies, the movements, squinting, etc.😂
My husband and son are ISTPs and I definitely agree about describing them as competent. I’m very lucky to have them.
i am very confused , i tested over 40 times in different pages with 100% INTP result , but i recognize hudge connections with ISTP descriptions as well
Bingo on everything especially the end ! Wow
I think the type should be called accuracy/action. "Action" really grabs the idea behind extroverted sensation, competence in the here and now.
Which of these job options best represents the ISTP personality ... the skilled independent problem solver wants to know if there are only two options for a mechanic or an electrician ...? give a logical reason, thank you for being willing to answer, god bless you
eerie when u said sensing of temperature, i can tell the temperature when i go outside within 2 degrees. im very cut and dry and it rubs so many ppl the wrong way. i just think its pointless to laugh if i dont want to or to top everything wit sugar. im probably the nicest person but i dont show it often, if at all, and i dont blame ppl for not hanging around to see that side. sometimes i think i could have said somethin with a little more light to it but if u cant get through the first part of my personality then what use r they really
my best fiend is ISTP , he can't sleep a lot when we travel he sleep very little , i think his body can sense the morning.
Best fiend
Crystal Waters are you Aquarius moon sign. He is.
Good vidio..
If only 2 optn..
What is ideal trade for istp..?
Electrician(wireman house)
Carpenter(framing house)
Thx
I couldnt find the video about ISTP's mind wiring as there were about other types, or any other information about growth for this type, are there any resources on this topic?:)
I don't care about my reputation consciously but if I do wonder what people thing based in rumors I just figure I'm consistent enough they will know the truth and I don't worry about it.
(sorry for my bad english)in your test and others my result was ISTP but others tests my result was INTP something like 2 test intp and 2 test istp ¿its normal? , but i feel more like a INTP , i dont like take risk for example , but i dont know why in some test my result was ISTP ,
ISTP shooter 🙋♀️
As an ISTP, i tend to question people's mind, starting as raw as :"Why would someone ever love eating Kimchi? Are they just forcing themselves or keep telling themselves that they love korean culture, hence making themselves love eating the food, or show the world that they do, and be sorta proud of it? Is that one of the ways that they find their identity?"
These thoughts were emerged after tasting how BAD kimchi is to me.
Fellow istp here
yeah they do eat it all the time but they don't love it you know. what they love more is chicken and meat. kimchi is more like a bean next to a steak. you'll eat it since its there but doesnt mean you love it. if you see some stuff saying that korean loves kimchi, well you should know thats just a government's marketing strategy.
its almost absurd as saying 榨菜 is best chinese food ever, and all chinese just love it and eat it all the time
EXACTLYYY MANN EXACTLYTY
This "accuracy/sensation" thing seems to be an another way to describe Introverted Thinking (Ti) and Extroverted Sensing(Se). I find that Ti is kinda nit-picky about some details because it wants accuracy to be as correct as possible.
And that co-pilot thingy is what the community call a Ti-Ni loop where the ISTP kind of ignores his Se and uses his Ni with his Ti and receiving no info from Se.
I am a ISTP by the way.
You're right. It is Ti and Se we are talking about. Here's an article that goes into more detail: www.personalityhacker.com/call-myers-briggs-genius-styles/
Thanks for your feedback.
This, about the paranoia, is literally how my paranoia works...
i got 50/50 score on judging vs perceiving. how could that happen ? but i feel like im more istp because yeah, like they said i never have a enough courage to said whats in my head and yea i care a lot about my reputation, how could that be so much sifferent from istj ?
Never mind - I took the Cloverleaf test and it looks like I’m an INFP - sigh - for now anyway…
My result came out as ISTP but I'm not athletic nor smart and mechanic...?? But I do like accuracy since I like debating: bring out the facts
I have a question... is arquitecture inside of the posible careers for ISTP's ?
you can be anything you want to be if you have the skills no matter what your mbti is
I am stuck between intp and istp I mean I have both of them like a month or 2 ago I took the test and it told me I was intp and I could relate to that it was all so true and now I am getting this istp and I am like no no no I want to be the least common as possible which the intp ( like how they want to be least common) has but when I read a website and watch this I am like this is also true I mean I have been a mechanic type of person.
Thanks Henry Kingston for the feedback.
I think they care about having a good team!
Snake Plisskin from John Carpenter's Escape from New York and Escape from L.A. films is the first ISTP I think of as far as characters from cinema.
How likely is an ISTP to be into writing, drawing and animation?
Fairly likely
welp
I'm the only one I know :/
Choco Menta You need to get out more then, fellow ISTP
@@stracciamenta I'm 5 years late but my boyfriend is an istp and he does too 😅
I'm istp but, I'm a musician, not mechanic
If you like my channel wanna add me on fb? let me know :) ESTP/ENFJ/ or ISTP not sure.
Instruments are nothing but tools to make music. Same shit different pile.
+Gangstar41145 i like that, good explanation
The Amazing Ricochet Check my channel on INTP music please, and mind seeing if it relates to your perspective? :) - INTJ likely
If an ISTP is in fully intellectual jobs, can they get depressed?
Do you think you would? I can’t see myself doing the same boring intellectual job everyday, but if you think you can do it, just go for it. Don’t do things based off what other people say, do what you feel like doing.
It feels like I'm finding out my character class type in an RPG game, XD
I got a question. for example in a war.. like ww2.. which type of personality would most likely to survive interogation and torture in the war prison camp once they are captured by enemy? which has higher chance come out alive?
i think ISTP had the least chance to live.
I believe it depends on the person not the type because someone could be infp and come out sane and someone could be istp and break down (highly unlikely).
You are right. If i capture by enemy i will suicide myself.
Why would you ask that?
What are the types of narrators?
They Probably chose the profession because of their voice.
well said istp mark here
Amazing!
I sway from ISTP -ESTP.
Same checkout my channel and we can talk over fb if you like? :)
all facts.
Not to mention that being an ISTP, i have mood swings, and people think i am bipolar but I'm not. I'm completely normal lol. Its because i live in the moment, which not everyone realizes that.
I think we care about our legacy; not necessarily reputation. We dont trust other peoples assessment of ourselves. =-)
So many unhelpful stereotypes in this
Right.
Clint Eastwood.
Joel has an uncanny resemblance to James Woods lol
I’m an ISTP and most of this is wrong.
U aint an istp
Your doing great!!! That’s exactly me
Hey guys, I appreciate your videos and explanations about the types. There is a lot of theory behind MBTI and to be honest I still don't fully understand how it works. I guess I'm the type, that really dislikes long explanations :)
At the same time, in my opinion, your quiz is actually quite bad. I took it 3 times in the last few years and my impression every time is the same. With other tests after little thought and looking back at my experiences, I can give a confident answer. In your quiz, some questions leave me perplexed, because they are too broad and ambiguous.
You will not be able to find an ISTP in a zombie apocalypse they will be at their cabin. Maybe with family. Best wishes.
That's pretty accurate for me(istp-t). Very interesting!
lulu nordahl ISTP-A myself
I'm an istp but I dont feel like this is accurate for me at all.
U aint an istp
The ISTP is good with programming, isn't he?
no..
I Iaughed so hard at 2:15
This came off sexists at first...
It might be because in the Myers-Briggs system it can be pretty rare to find women as ISTP.
Neh this video is boring for an istp to watch 😢 .sorry guys
