Quora brought me here. I expected a booming voice, an attractive lecturer, a speaker who can talk without reading the paper... Ken Jowitt was none of that.
@@masada2828 Maybe because this is a lecture where he is arguing a point, not a class aimed at teaching students. I did not find any example of the later on RUclips.
Might somebody be able to explain what exactly he means at 6:30 by "Once again Lenin has trumped Marx"? It seams to me as he's saying something in riddles there.
Yes, he uses so many analogies and metaphors he is hard to understand. In this case I believe he is referring to the fact that Marx said that communism was inevitable. The more advanced states would just naturally evolve and become communists --- that is why Marc said communism would first happen in the industrially advanced Germany. In contrast, Lenin lead a violent revolution to force communism upon a primitive Russia. And before 9/11 Bush believed that totalitarian states would naturally evolve into democracies around the world. After 9/11, Bush believed we needed to intervene with force and "create" democracies.
@SchwarzesPCSchaf its a communist term. Marx, the guy who originally coined the theory of communism, is the man who is well known for the founder of communism. However, many say that "Marx communism" is very hard to achieve, because it is based on philosophical basis, rather than political or practical. To fill the need for a form of communism that can actually be applied to countries, Lenin created his own form of communism. His phrase means how Leninist communist is more common than marx
Right, he was just reading (shakes head). Rather, what he says could be written, word for word, on the fly, into a book which could be published without editing!
Doesn't read as well 14 years later, in the age of a Xi Presidency for Life, as it must have at the time. Time tests all ideas; some prosper while others age badly. This lecture has aged very badly.

the difference is that Marx talked and Lenin acted, I'm pretty sure thats it.
You are only about destroying and not about opening hearts and minds!
Any time someone needs to brag about their qualifications, I'm suspicious. Just give me meat
