Every Breath You Take - The Police (drum cover) drumless track used

- Опубликовано: 12 май 2017
- Drum cover of "Every Breath You Take", a song by English rock band The Police from their 1983 album Synchronicity.
Written by Sting, the single was the biggest hit of 1983, topping the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for eight weeks which was the band's only number-one hit on that chart and the UK Singles Chart for four weeks. It also topped the Billboard Top Tracks chart for nine weeks.
The song ranked number 84 on the Rolling Stone list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and is included in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. It also ranked number 25 on Billboard's Hot 100 All-Time Top Songs.
Sting later said he was disconcerted by how many people think the song is more positive than it is. He insists it is about the obsession with a lost lover, and the jealousy and surveillance that follow. "One couple told me 'Oh we love that song; it was the main song played at our wedding!' I thought, 'Well, good luck.'] When asked why he appears angry in the music video Sting told BBC Radio 2, "I think the song is very, very sinister and ugly and people have actually misinterpreted it as being a gentle little love song, when it's quite the opposite."
According to the Back to Mono box-set book, "Every Breath You Take" is influenced by a Gene Pitney song titled "Every Breath I Take". The song's structure is a variation on the Classical rondo form with its AABACABA structure, a form rarely found in modern popular music.

You're still my favorite. Amazing rendition, my friend. This cover embodies the spirit of Stewart Copeland, because if you close your eyes and just listen... it sounds exactly like it should. The "touch" is there. Great work, Sal!
Hey Jay, you're so kind and encouraging, thank you my fellow drumming brother.
Oh my God, even before watching it, i know im going to love it!!! Sal, such an amazing cover of a very well loved song! :)
Hey thanks Lea, much appreciated. Keep singing!!!
Awesome!! I love sting and this song.
Perfect drum kit, nothing unnecessary over the top. I would invest in a kit like this but I don't have the talent but watching this is darn cool too. 🔊🕪 🖒👍
Excellent drumming--just like Stewart. Such a great song, it still holds up after thirty-four years!
Thanks Jorge, yea, how about that?! 34 years. Well that is what defines a classic song is how it is still fresh after all those years.
Delicious sound for my ears!! Good job my friend, and your set sounds amazing, greetings from Colombia!!
Love it every time i see it ❤👌

Thank you
I'm quite to drumming and some people and I have started a cover band recently. I love watching your videos for two reasons: new ideas for songs to play and collecting ideas how to play them from a great drummer! Thank you for your inspiration and Greetings from Germany :)
Kevin Prause
Hey Kevin, thanks so much.
It’s always good to learn that my videos serve other drummers like yourself.
Keep drumming and it’s good to hear from Germany.
Another solid performance. I like it.

Great cover. I really feel like the performance in the recording is beautifully understated and uniquely Stewart. You did a great job. Thanks
Thank you Scott, it's much appreciated.
very smooth
Thank you!
And the hits keep coming Sal. Super clean and precise as all your videos are. Really digging the Copeland feel with the traditional grip.
Hey Rob, thanks so much my friend.
Impecable friend !!!
Thanks Hector.
Awesome cover!
Thanks Nathan
Sal sounds great and spot on!! You got me playing along with you on my work desk!! We can tell you really enjoyed playing this one!! Keep on rocking and enjoy the rest of your weekend!!
Hey Zax, thank you my friend. Keep drumming!!!
Traditional grip!! Very nice! :)
Hey Matt, yea I thought I'd channel Stewart's grip. Thanks for checking it out.
Good job🥁
Thank you for viewing the video.
Perfection
What a great song, Sal! I really like your interpretation of Copeland's famous beat. Always love your detailed information about the songs.
Hey Mike, thanks man!!!
Nice job,i really like that playing.
Thank you for coming on by and checking it out. Keep jammin' man!!
As always, totally awesome. As the other poster said...we can tell you really enjoyed playing this one.
btw - noticed you went "old school" - using the traditional grip. LOL
Thank you my friend. I was channeling Stewart Copeland's grip.
Nice job !!! Great song :)) :)) !!!!!
Thank you Tati, much appreciated. Keep drumming!!!
Sal, felicitaciones gran video mi hermano !!!!
Muchas gracias amigo!!!
Great feel Sal. Nice one mate!!
Thank you Pauly.
What a great sound you make on that fantastic drumkit with so much possebillities Sal and i love that second camera its good to see you drumming from a different angle ...pushed the like button friend and i have to say it again your a great drummer...Rob.
Hey Rob, thank you my friend for viewing the cover and for your feedback on video and drum set sound. Edrums are very versatile indeed. Give my regards to The Brothers and God bless you bro'!!!
Nice work Sal! Very cool
Thanks Greg.
You have really REALLY listened to these songs! Superb!!
Thank you, much appreciated.
I've got the TD30KV and thin EZdrummer2 is preferred for sounds, except the TD30 hats which cannot be beaten
That's a top quality kit. I've played that model in church services. Toontrack is very good drum sample software.
Nice song and great drumming Sal!!
Thank you Gigi. Keep drumming!!!
Because you played this with one hand to start, like the video, I looked at this tune completely different. Because the right foot is playing a Samba pattern, it gave the song a different feel. It makes it comfortable to jam on the ride. Good stuff here
Thank you my fellow drummer for viewing the video. I wouldn't classify the kick pattern as a samba which is a 16th note into the 1 & 3 beats. The pattern played here is on the "1" and an 8th note (the "and" of 2) and on the "3".
@@rhythmantic Yes. Samba is counted as groups of 2, and many other differences. For whatever reason your video had me counting the bass pattern as groups of 2's. Idk why, but it made the ride part feel cool.
Nice job!! Keep it up
Thank you and keep drumming!!!
damn man u a badass on the drums
You got dat right, sucka!!!
The crack and snap of the snare really caught my attention! How are you Sal? I've been waiting to see a new cover from you...what an incredible job my friend...as usual, you rocked it perfectly...and with traditional grip!! I've never been able to do that...take care!
Michael, my man! Thanks for dropping by and checking out my cover. I have one more Police cover to upload: "Synchronicity 2", which uses a drumless track.
Thanks so much for your support and keep drumming!!!
I've been playing traditional grip since I was 8. Nice one Sal. :)
Thank you Tim. I thought I'd channel Stewart's grip for this one.
It seems like you recognized it's a Samba. I think you're the 1st I've seen do this, and start it like that. Nice!
It’s always an honor when a fellow drummer views and comments on one of my videos.
Very interesting that you detect a samba groove in what I played.
Thank you for viewing my cover video. Keep drumming!!
Great drumming Sal! I like the additional camera angle as well!
Thank you Adam for checking out the cover and for the feedback.
you're welcome!
Wow, I love this video! Even the way you hold the left drum stick is just like Stewart Copeland does, like holding a chopstick. 😅
Thank you for viewing my cover.

I just found out that drumming style is called "traditional grip".
Nani Wijaya Nasution
Yes it is. It originated with marching drumming due to the drum being on a slanted angle. It’s no longer necessary to play with that grip. The matched grip being a more balanced one. Though many great drummers prefer using the traditional grip. I naturally go to traditional grip whenever I play jazz.
@@rhythmantic
Yes, it depends on the genre of the music that we play. I like Metallica music, I notice Lars Ulrich is very matched in his style of drumming in order to produce the hard sound.
Where do you get the drum less tracks?
I would love to know as well
Salut. Je voulais savoir au bout de combien de mois de pratique on arrive à jouer ce morceau ? Merci
I didn't have to practice for this song at all as I knew it very well having heard it for many years. Merci beaucoup!
Love your vids!
Ever have any issues with your cymbals?
I have the ride cymbal acting strange and needs service.
thanks!
Thank you Jim. Only wit the hi-hat not triggering properly but that wasn't equipment failure but user error and not having the settings configured properly.
Keep drumming!!1
I'll be watching you.
Where can i get the song without the drums or only the bass online, to practice my drums?
Maxthecat123
Online at YT, use the search engine.
Yo good cover and what do u think of a acoustic kit seeming u seem to play a electric kit? :)
Just to add my opinion. An electric kit has almost limitless possibilities. The range of different drum sounds is incredible. Also, it's almost silent and you can hook it up to a computer to record so easily. It also takes up far less space than an acoustic kit.
Yes that is certainly true. I have access to hundreds of drum kit options and sounds and they are very easy to record and I can play them in my apartment.
Well I have 2 acoustic kits: a Pearl fusion type; and a Gretsch jazz kit and I play a Yamaha kit at church, like just this morning in today's worship service. I've been playing acoustic drums for over 53 years and will continue to do so.
Edrums are to acoustic drums as a stand-up bass to an electric bass; an acoustic guitar to an electric guitar; a baby grand piano to a synthesizer. It's just another instrument.
La Roland ha dei bellissimi suoni, che modello è?
TDW-20 module with TD-12 pads. However, the sound is from a kit triggered in Steven Slate Drums 4.0 software.
Hey, you changed your grip from 'matched' 2 'traditional'! Better?
Only to channel the grip that Stewart uses. It's not "better", it's just another way to play drums.
Sounds great man. You have great concept of feel and great timing. Can I hire you for a song or two? Seriously hit me up I'd like to talk about some projects I would need a drummer to give extra human feel to. Great stuff! ✌️
Yes thank you.
Please contact me at my email address regarding your project saldamato1950@gmail.com
Loved it but It says drumless track but don’t we hear it at the very beginning and throughout?
Thanks for watching the video. Since I didn’t have a count-in I needed the pickup note at the beginning of the song, that’s it.
Can you do a drum cover of The Celtic Soul Brothers by Dexy’s Midnight Runners?
I'm not familiar with the band or the song.
@@rhythmantic Dexy’s Midnight Runners are a band from the 1980s that released a song in 1982 called “Come On Eileen”
What modelo is it?
Es Negra Modelo.
rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato thank's
I'm just kidding with you. It's a Roland V-Drum TD-12 kit with a TD-20 module
jajajaja don't speak inglish, sorry
rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato good troller and nice drummer
Who watches this in 2021💗
Che drumkit é questo?
That info is on my channel.
read the above description for the sound source.
look at the flick of the wrist
Toca muito bem mais tenta fazer mais viranda na musica
Don’t know what is meant by “viranda” but obrigado for checking out my cover.
@@rhythmantic 😉
SAL!!!!!!!! my man. My Google accounts are all messed top and I never received any notices about your posts. I wanted to tell you something pretty cool that happened to me. I met (online under an incredible coincidence) Hanna Ford (Prince's drummer when he died) and just chatting about his dying she opened up and told me .." I was his drummer." "Sure I said " .. and WHAM! she was What a drummer, what a nice lady.. Down to earth funny witty and the #4 female drummer in the world.
AMAZING technique and power and a repertoire that will choke a pony. Her hubs is a producer and ive sent a few originals he is interested in .
Write me!!
PS - VERY VERY religious girl
Mickavellian my man!! So good to hear from you. Yes, Hanna is a fine drummer with some serious chops. I thought I sensed that about her and her godly nature. Great that you have an opportunity with getting your songs to her husband.
God bless you bro', and thanks for stopping by and checking out the cover, much appreciated. I don't do as many covers as I used to.
I had no idea who she was when we began chatting online . I just made a comment about a GRETCH set she had on a pic. I mentioned my dislike for GRETCH and she said "well I get them free " and gave me a LOL. Stupid me I asked "oh you WORK for GRETCH.....? and she is "well no "really", they sponsor me since I'm 14 . and then I felt like kaka. but she was GREAT! We happen to have similar training as far as posture , muscle memory, and no acrobatics . I taught her the Ringo "buttering" and she was WOAH .... and people call THAT sloppy?! "Yeah cause they have no clue the amount of sound the man gets outta two notes.". She is also a KILLER percussionist playing Latin rhythms as good as Sheila E. (if not better) Strange , when she's not touring she does not leave the house ! Very spiritual very centered very devoted to the lord. What a perfect lady.
Oh speaking of "Sloppy". Seems there are 100 people in RUclips explaining Beatles music . Someone said "Go check this kid. he's awsome. (awsome always gives me the creeps) . So ...I go watch the video and.
MAN , how can people get Ringo so WRONG!
1st - He's a lefty playing a right handed set ... GRRRRRRRRRR ... "Playing a set positioned for a right handed .. ya twit . I never saw a stand that had a "R" or a "L" on it. Then he tries to do a "Ringo and explains "it is difficult cause Ringo plays Sloppy. It makes me blow up when someone sees an awesome technique and 'cause they do not understand the mechanics it is "Sloppy". Since it was a kid I went easy so a come here kid ... let me teach ya SOMETHING.........After I finished my one hour lesson I MUST strike (it's my nature Franciscan taught me that "leave them bleeding , they WILL remember" O
So I leave him with ONE assignment . "Now listen and WATCH Keith Moon & Ginger Baker. What is SPECIAL about those two and why is it so damn difficult to exactly NAIL what they do?"
Still awaiting an answer.....
Bless ya my brother.
You tell 'em Mick. Young folks need to get the wisdom, understanding and knowledge that experienced folks like yourself have to offer. And they'd be wise to take heed. God bless you bro'!!!!
Poor fill in ... Montotone
