this makes it look like a speedrun to start up a plane the fastest.
ThatThingCalledTheGalaxy This is not how quick pilots really work, a pilot I know started a 737 in like less then 5mins
@@noel12397 That's pretty much how quickly you do items. Why would you do them slower?
I m fast as f*** boiii!!!
A speed run competition between pilots...I can imagine a 747 chasing after a A380

I remember flying as a young kid in the 80's, they used to let kids go in the cockpit mid flight. My grandma used to tell me before going up there, "don't touch NOTHING!"
To be fair, I’m sort of pleased that when the night engineers gave me blanket permission to wander in and out of the flight deck whenever I please, so long as I generally let them know I might do so when I board, they didn’t see fit to tell me not to touch anything.
I’m an airplane cleaner with an interest in aviation and every so often I have to do a bunch of night shifts. After a colossal screw up of epic proportions for two nights I was the only cleaner from the company contracted to clean this airline’s planes so I sort of teamed up with the engineers for safety and proper door opening technique since I hadn’t been signed off on it yet.
I guess after being on about eight 737s completely and utterly alone with ground power attached, and the 787 Dreamliner with only them else aboard and not watching me, they figured out that if I was ever going to go cause some mischief that would have been the time to do it. 🤣 But I like planes. I’d never want to damage one.
@@mikoto7693you are a good man
@@aditsaini5094 Not a man, but thank you. 🙂 Interestingly my comment is out of date now. After word got back to my managers, they kind of said “well, if you’re naturally drawn to the flight deck anyway then you might as well get the training for it!” So now, cleaning the flight decks is like 80% of what I do! 😆 The engineers were delighted because now I’m trained, they don’t have to do it themselves whenever it got too messy in there. And the pilots are happy because now the flight decks get done regularly! Win-win for everyone.
Im in the flight deck of a Southwest 737 right now, and this tutorial was very helpful! Hope my passengers don’t know I’ve never flown before 😅

yeah actually, these are what airline pilots have to go through everyday and night, 24-7.
@Kernels There are basic procedures they have to memorize, and they use the checklist later on to make sure they covered everything. Really the whole point of the checklist is to drastically reduce margin of error; otherwise the pilots don't need it to remember what to do.

@Kernels he did yes but usually you do it with two ppl. one read the list the other one checks. maybe the second pilot had to pee at that time ......

1:28 Start engines. Turn off air conditioning to divert compressed air to start engines (this is normally done automatically in more modern aircraft)
1:59 Turn ON engine ignition
2:05 Engine master lever to allow fuel into engines. With ignition on the engine will light up and get started (RPM increasing)
I isn't really that oversimplified
0:40 putting the route
You dont start apu right away as the whole point of external power is that you can do what you can with the apu on except that fuel does not deplete. You need the apu on so you can start the engines.
@@SYDAirlineEnthusiast Good point. Ships batteries to start the APU, or a ground power unit for the APU start and other electrical loads whilst parked. I'm no expert but doesn't it go something like this? And so my head is spinning over it. The ship's batteries are mainly for starting the APU when an external ground power unit/cart isn't available and are for minimal load use (such as radio and intercom), perhaps for passenger gasper (or cabin low fan) air? APU would be required to supply bleed air for the first engine start (to wind up LP compressor) to sufficient N1 LP compressor RPM speed for the fuel (FCO) valve to be opened so that fuel can be introduced into the cans? But is it cross-bleed from the first engine for the second engine start? If so, then I guess that prior to the second engine start, the electrical bus can then be switched to APU, or does the APU provide bleed air for both engine starts, with the APU then delivering power to the electrical bus after both engines have been started and are stable (and also bleed air for air cond packs)? I'm terrible at this, aren't I?
@@pennyspringdoor you need the battery to start the apu, though ground power does not need battery. However, ground power is attached to the jetway so you need the apu on before turning off ground power since you start the engines after pushback begins, which happens after the jetway retracts. When the jetway is connected, you stick with ground power instead of the apu since apu uses up fuel even if all your engines are off, but ground power does not as it is seperate from the airplane. You need the apu to start both engines, and in some cases, apu bleed is a seperate thing from the apu start itself. The packs are supposed to be off when starting the engines.

Man!! This video used to motivate me.... always nice to rewatch it... Lucky to have an opportunity to fly this highly respected Boeing.
This is a condensed video of a full start-up.
All in all, from the moment you get in the plane to engine start-up, that's a good 30 minutes. Those 30 min would include the verification of the onboard library (aircraft and company documents, FCOM's, QRH, airport bricks up to date, various forms, ...), briefings (routing crosscheck, taxi and SID briefings, type of take-off / departure / flaps setting, etc ...), the take-off performances calculations and the checklists + ATC clearance.

Engine start checklist: set engine 2 start to GRND, when N1 hits 20 percent turn on engine 2 fuel cutoff, and after that do the same with engine 1.
After engine start: turn on engine generators, turn off APU start, turn off APU bleed, set packs to AUTO, set isolation to AUTO, set flaps

Thank you! I had trouble start this plane, and i found out this vid is really help me
That's what a checklist is all about, you do your memory flow/actions and then the checklist to .. check everything has been done.
You also have briefings that not only tell both crew what are going to be each others actions for taxi, take-off, departure, incident/emergency, but also review the aircraft setup to fly this departure (frequencies, courses, altitudes on MCP and in the FMC, speed restrictions, etc...).
The whole setup is done from memory, then come the checks and briefing.
Best work

No need for fuel pumps?
Jet engines are too big to be started with a starter motor like you have in your car. They need to be started with another smaller engine, the APU. So you turn that on first, turn off the air conditioning (packs) as they use the same compressed air that's needed to start the engines, then start the engines.
On single-engine propeller planes, you do just turn the key.
Lol
