Thanks for the video! I watched this video when I got my Mx5 from the dealer and since then I paid attention to the amount of resistance the lever had. This season I noticed the resistance where far less and the hood started to do rattling noises. But thanks to you I know how I can solve it easily. Thanks again
You sir, as I live and breathe, are indubitably, a scholar and a gentleman ! Such a well done and extremely helpful video, clear and concise, well phrased and laid out, almost as if you knew what you were about. Let me not refrain from saying that any MX-5 pilot is at the least a cousin or a brother, and had you a six-speed transmission ( as I do in my 2008 Grand Touring MX-5 ) in your Mazda conveyance, we would surely be "blood-brothers." Hope to meet you soon on a curved mountain road, in 6th gear at 52mph due to superior low-end torque, cruise set, seat totally back, Bose CD playing John Mayer, Steve Miller or some other great tunes...just laid back driving the most enjoyable and best-handling little roadster out there...the MX-5. Zoom-Zoom.
2006 red Miata and I was getting rain leakage right above my head at the window / top joint. I followed this instruction and tightened my top ONE turn on a hot and sunny day. 2 weeks later, we take it out for a drive and the windshield splits a 10 inch crack right down the middle. I recommend trying half a tuen and checking wind noise.
Just a note that we had a rattling power hard top center latch and found a TSB on this issue, We didnt look for it on the soft top latch of course, but it seems to be the same mechanism. The dealer repair on our 2008 latch was excellent. The latch is very tight after the repair.
@@wg5768 If you hear rattles from the top of the windshield frame thats when you need to readjust. I have a 2013 PRHT and it startet to rattle a week ago. Will fix this, seems to be easy.
Very helpful video, I've followed the instructions step by step and I can say it totally fixed the rattle issue. Only one problem remain to solve, the tensioner spring now is too long and it get unhooked every time. How did you deal with this problem?
These screws are not philips. These are JIS. You can tell by the small dot on it. Philips is too narrow angle and it can slip, damaging the head and make it impossible to remove.
NC autos are quite good actually. I own one and often drive with manual mode. In my opinion it's about 70% same as regular manual. When I'm tired I can put the gear in D and not worry about shifting. These are great cars.
@@hyunjaeroh820Never driven an automatic NC but I've heard the paddle shifters are great. The only downside is the auto transmission weighs a bit more and don't come with LSD so they aren't as capable track cars, for getting around town there's nothing wrong it. I love shifting my 6 speed NC but it gets old when I'm stuck in traffic.
I don't know if doing this will fix my issue, but your video was so helpful for telling me how to do it.
Glad it helped
I've been troubled by this issue of my NC (it's a red one too!) and luckily saw this video before the wind noise drives me nuts! Thanks
Thanks for posting this video. My 2006 is super noisy and I cant wait to try this!

@@ckbun It did for my 2010 NC hard top
Thank you
Hey, any clue how to remove the plastic cover around the soft top latch?
If my memory serves me correctly, it’s clipped in.
Awesome! Thank you.

We didn’t have an issue with the spring on this one.
Having the same issue. Any ideas on how to solve this?
Top is now tight and and doesn't rattle. Just need to fix the spring.
Amazing and helpful!!!!
I sometimes have a rattle that seems coming from the hook part, do you think tightening it will stop that?
It may help. It all depends why it rattling. I would take a good look to see if any bolts have come loose up there first.
Hello sir - I want this look - how I can buy it? Can you give me any link?
The parts used in this video were sourced from my local Mazda parts department. Unfortunately, I do t have a link.
