Hard to believe it was 10 years ago, I’m nearing the end of college now. I remember vividly revisiting this video constantly in anticipation for Skyrim. Here’s to hoping you return when TES6 properly comes out.
While everyone is talking about The Eternal Champion, The Hero of Daggerfall, The Nerevarine, The Champion of Cyrodil, The Dovahkiin. But dont forget The Vestige (ESO) The Apprentice (Battle spire) Master tunnel rat (TES Travels Stormhold) Cyrus (TES Adventure Redguard) Hero of Dawnstar (TES Travels Dawnstar) Soul of Conflict (TES Travels Shadowkey) The Warrior (TES Blades) The Forgotten Hero (TES Legends) Talym Rend (TES Legends Isle of madness) They are all heros in TES although some are only mortal and forgotten but I hope everyone remembers them because they are all heros.
I swear I smiled through this whole video. The Elder Scrolls has always been my favorite game series, and hearing the different themes played into one beautiful piano piece.... It's absolutely epic. Awesome job!
+Gilda Griffon Well, horrible is a bit strong. Horrible companies don't make award winning games every single time with record breaking selling statistics and reviews. They have fucked up a few times, but they still make great games, I just hope their next game is more like morrowind and less like skyrim.
I LOVE the Elder Scrolls, but Skyrim will always be near and dear to me, mainly because it was the first Elder Scroll game I've ever played (not an old player, played Skyrim first, Oblivion second, and Morrowind last) But there is one thing that I LOVE equally about all 3 games and that is the music (especially the main themes) it takes my breath away every time!
1 tip start with the fighters guild the last quest wil give jou elven armor and elven long or greatsword it wil take soms time tough but its worth it belief me
For my friend Sarah 0:02 our time spent together during our freshman year 0:31 our time spent together during our senior year 1:23 years of not seeing or talking to eachother 1:33 seeing eachother again at whataburger after so many years 3:10 a stronger friendship then we've ever had before with better memories to 4:01 however this story ends whether it be good or weather it be bad I will carry with me some of the greatest memories I've ever had
I come back usually about twice a year to hear this music, it gives me chills. I have been playing this game since dagger fall and I'll never forget it.
If only I could go back and tell my 2012 self watching this video for the first time that there won’t be another Elder Scrolls game for at least 10 years
I wait for the day when we are able to experience all of the countries of tamerial in one game and they are not split apart by loading screens, no a living breathing world where we can feel like we are in, where we can see the cultures of the kajhitt then go see the nords. I long to see this even if it means becoming the lord of my realm just to live forever because when that elder scrolls game comes out we will truly reach the limits of what is a normal open world game and then tear it apart with this new bigger and better world. That is manifest destiny.
Arena: happy adventure time. Daggerfall: Edgy tragedy. Morrowind: Go explore. Oblivion: Go on epic quest. Skyrim: be angry at everyone and everything while being manly in a macho way.
Man, this thing is just so beautiful. The way the Arena theme starts, so sorrowful yet bright and hopeful. The way the Daggerfall theme follows, so bold and grand, contrasting the previous one. The way the Morrowind theme picks up after that, as if a throwback to Arena with its sad motif, and the way it then progresses into a much more uplifting and powerful piece until the Oblivion theme comes in like a fist through a wall, smashing the calmness of the Call of Magic and setting its larger-than-life mood, until slowly recessing and allowing the softer tunes to the forefront again. And then finally, the Skyrim theme breaks through with its splendor, before finally retreating with a repeating bass line into silence. This is perfection.
Elder scrolls series is a fantastic series.... Played them all!! I even got into the closed ESO beta... On a grand scale of 1 - 10... 1 being shit, and 10 being god's gift to humanity... i'd give the Elder Scrolls series a 1/10. Totally recommend every game in the series.. Best series ive ever had the pleasure to be a part of..
Khaoserat No no no no no... You're just misunderstanding my purpose... Im saying 1/10, so people ACTUALLY READ MY REVIEW, rather than just look at the number value i give it... Numbers dont mean anything without a full description of WHY it got that number... And it is GENUINELY one of the best game series's ive ever played... That's why it gets a 1/10...
Ugh, I love the music but seriously I hate looking at the comments because everyone just wants to argue about the best elder scroll game when their is no "best" all were an amazing game for their time. Can we just please leave it at that?
anyone else cry a little at the ending? such a powerful performance and what a deluge of memories to bear! this series...what a beautiful reason to love life.
zGmart Lee Psssh, yeah, because a bunch of testosterone-poisoned baritones making kung-fu noises is way more appropriate for this mythical land than a subtle, mysterious treatment of the tune that ends in a crescendo to capture the epicness. No offense intended, but the Morrowind theme is near and dear to my heart, and from a purely musical standpoint, it's much better. But hey, just my opinion.
Matt Sampson I don't agree that Skyrim has the best music, but the theme did actually fit the game better than any other of them. 1) the lyrics told a story 2) it was in Dragon Tongue and 3) it sounded like Nords were singing it. As far as the theme goes, Skyrim's was 100% the most appropriate, so don't pick on that even if you didn't like it more than others.
Sporsumus Torsumus The fact is though, it's over a hundred years in the future; even if it is inhabited by Nords or other races - it has Imperial influence due to the Empire reigning over it. I seem to remember a more sophisticated Imperial regime too, not just; 'off with their head!' - who knows, it could be the effects of having the descendant of an Emperor who took power by force as the current Imperial Sovereign.
Sporsumus Torsumus I was talking about the 'cut his head off even though we don't know who he is' part. And you basically just repeated what I said about the Empire being influenced by the warlord who forced his way to power. What I was saying is, even Solitude doesn't have a more futuristic feel (Not sci-fi, one hundred years advancement) compared to Cyrodiil. Even if the Ayleid's made the Imperial City, that's no excuse for cities like Anvil or Skingrad; the Imperial armour seems to have gone a ways back too - it has less protection on the soldier in my opinion. No matter, when TES VI comes out (In a few years I hope) the world will hopefully feel as if it has changed in the right way.
Morrowind was THE game. You could FLY, you could KILL THE MAIN CHARACTERS (though, once you did, a text appeared for the next 5 minutes, saying you just screwed the world and that the prophecies wouldn't realize no more). I played EVERY mayor and minor quest in TES III, I can assure you it was worth the time. The only problem is, it's a game from 2001, so graphically It's very polygonal (though some graphical patch can solve the problem). You cannot double-wield, but you can still cast a spell while wielding a weapon. By the way, I LOVED every episode of TES saga, nonetheless. If you love RPG and are not afraid of low graphics, download the first 2 episodes, too (bethesda realesed them FREE, somewhere in the internet).
bregonz The graphics were not the problem of Morrowind, the dialogue system was. Really, it was annoying to hea-- read the same thing from everyone. I think over half of the NPCs had no unique dialogue lines at all. If you played only Skyrim, Orion, you should go for Olbivion first, it's a great game too.
Why does *everyone* _constantly_ get the Arena theme _wrong_ ? Or at least, that bit of counterpoint at the beginning. It resolves *upwards* , not down. It bothers my ears. I cannot be the _only_ person who hears this.
Oblivion will always be my favourite I think. It was my first Elder Scrolls game, and nothing will ever beat that unreal level of freedom I felt when I completed the tutorial. The mountains in the background weren't decoration like I was used to in most games, they were a place to explore.
The Eternal Champion.
The Hero of Daggerfall.
The Nerevarine.
The Champion of Cyrodil.
The Dovahkiin.
And many more to come.

While everyone is talking about The Eternal Champion, The Hero of Daggerfall, The Nerevarine, The Champion of Cyrodil, The Dovahkiin.
But dont forget
The Vestige (ESO)
The Apprentice (Battle spire)
Master tunnel rat (TES Travels Stormhold)
Cyrus (TES Adventure Redguard)
Hero of Dawnstar (TES Travels Dawnstar)
Soul of Conflict (TES Travels Shadowkey)
The Warrior (TES Blades)
The Forgotten Hero (TES Legends)
Talym Rend (TES Legends Isle of madness)
They are all heros in TES although some are only mortal and forgotten but I hope everyone remembers them because they are all heros.
Hero of Dawnstar's actual title is the Master Tunnelrat.
I swear I smiled through this whole video. The Elder Scrolls has always been my favorite game series, and hearing the different themes played into one beautiful piano piece....
It's absolutely epic.
Awesome job!
12 Years later, still listening. I just saw I never liked the video but iI listened to it like 200 times with the years... Thanks again
9 years ago this masterpiece was uploaded on youtube. Every year atleast once I come back to it. Thank you!
If there was a movie for Elder Scrolls, this whole song of the 5 themes would be the credits music.
I think I prefer the daggerfall song even though I've never played the game myself.
Setup properly, Daggerfall is a great game.
Free, to boot.
+Gilda Griffon It's a shame they cut so much content from it to get it out by a certain date. Then they missed the scheduled release date anyway.
Well, that's Bethesda. They ARE a horrible company, after all.
+Gilda Griffon Well, horrible is a bit strong. Horrible companies don't make award winning games every single time with record breaking selling statistics and reviews.
They have fucked up a few times, but they still make great games, I just hope their next game is more like morrowind and less like skyrim.
>horrible companies don't make award winning games
EA.
Came across this video, I still remember watching it when I was in College a decade back. Still a great video
Still a masterpiece to this day
i like the occasional nostalgia shots in the background
I LOVE the Elder Scrolls, but Skyrim will always be near and dear to me, mainly because it was the first Elder Scroll game I've ever played (not an old player, played Skyrim first, Oblivion second, and Morrowind last) But there is one thing that I LOVE equally about all 3 games and that is the music (especially the main themes) it takes my breath away every time!
The elders scrolls are the best games ever made
I agree with you.
It's almost like I get a nostalgic feeling every time I listen to this even though I started with Oblivion.
1 tip start with the fighters guild the last quest wil give jou elven armor and elven long or greatsword it wil take soms time tough but its worth it belief me
same here
I started with skyrim but i love oblivion its so much more chalenging
i remember watching this when Skyrim first came out. Still a great work of art
I am crying because of Morrowind is sooooo beautiful!!
I am crying because of your grammar is soooo bad!!
@@person-kz1jh leave him alone, not everyone is perfect
0:58 - 1:03 any Star Wars fans hear what I'm hearing?
Yes
I dont get it all i hear is daggerfall music
+Ryan Dixon Have a listen to Across the Stars from Episode 2
glad I wasn't the only one!
yeah
For my friend Sarah
0:02 our time spent together during our freshman year
0:31 our time spent together during our senior year
1:23 years of not seeing or talking to eachother
1:33 seeing eachother again at whataburger after so many years
3:10 a stronger friendship then we've ever had before with better memories to
4:01 however this story ends whether it be good or weather it be bad I will carry with me some of the greatest memories I've ever had
I come back usually about twice a year to hear this music, it gives me chills. I have been playing this game since dagger fall and I'll never forget it.
Flawless victory
If only I could go back and tell my 2012 self watching this video for the first time that there won’t be another Elder Scrolls game for at least 10 years
Morrowind is the best in my opnion
+O Zuera Nope, OBLIVION.
+O Zuera oblivion is peerless
+O Zuera Luckily it is present in every elder scrolls game ever since
***** No, I disagreed
+O Zuera 1st-Daggerfall
2nd - Morrowind
3rd - Arena
4th - Skyrim
5th - Oblivion
(By a pretty close call ...Oh btw IMO)
it's 2024 and this is still magnificent, I remember the first time I watched this and I really enjoy it, never gets old
I wait for the day when we are able to experience all of the countries of tamerial in one game and they are not split apart by loading screens, no a living breathing world where we can feel like we are in, where we can see the cultures of the kajhitt then go see the nords.
Skyrim: be angry at everyone and everything while being manly in a macho way.
arena feels more sad than happy to me and idk where you get edgyness from daggerfall
I don´t know why, but I strongly feel like I have heard Daggerfall´s theme somewhere else, in a movie or the like...
Richardsen Nvm, I got it! It is in Star Wars. Listen closely, you will notice it.
***** Indeed, I think it is "Across the Stars" from Episode II.
Richardsen And I think it was in Skyrim somewhere
+Richardsen that's what I was thinking lol
Glad I'm not the only one that thought that...
Morrowind was my first introduction to this franchise, and its theme will always hold a deep place of nostalgia in my heart
It all just sounds like one song, I wonder if Bethesda did this on purpose
That's like the main theme of Elder Scrolls now. It's just changed a bit for every entry
+bob saget IIRC, TES III: Morrowind was when Jeremy Soule started doing the music for the games. Arena and Daggerfall had a different composer.
You can hear same symphony at every song at 3-4-5
You can hear same symphony at every song at 3-4-5
It's the same melody, they just play it in different keys and scales and add stuff to it t
Stirring and extraordinary performance!
The best part is, Skyrim wasn't even out when this video was made.
You, sir or madam, have made a grown man cry. Such a beautiful arrangement!
Can't stop listening to this!:)
They should take all the games, and put them in one. Like what 343 did with the master chief collection.
BoogieBean they did?
OMFG!! I NEED TO GET IT. problem is that its not for Windows 10
ThePudgyBudgie Should still work.
It would probably blow up your console/PC
ES Anthology just incluedes all the games seperatly in one collection, why shouldn't it run on Windows 10?
Size: Arena>Daggerfall>Skyrim>Oblivion>Morrowind
Variety: Morrowind>Daggerfall>Arena>Skyrim>Oblivion
Story: Morrowind>Skyrim>Oblivion>Daggerfall>Arena
Combat: Skyrim>Oblivion>Dagger fall>Morrowind> Arena
I thought that Daggerfall is bigger than Arena. Wasn't it the double size of the UK ??
Arena was randomly generated, making it 128,000 square miles.
But Arena was randomly generated with a area of about 128,000 square miles.
yes but technically, arena was 6 million square miles, I heard from a source. It may not be correct.
BanishedTitan There is no way it is 6 million square miles. That is extremely big. I don't know the exact size but it isn't that.
I love how all these pieces just flow together
The Elder Scroll 6 Teaser Coming Out Guys
I am a sucker for the Daggerfall theme tbh
116 Cliff Racers Disliked this.
119 n'wah
Michael MacKean LOL
Cliff racers: REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
209 n'wahs
I dislike the cliff racers!
Best series ive ever had the pleasure to be a part of..
... You realise you put 1/10 right?
Khaoserat Yeah! 1/10... Have you ever played it? It's by far one of the best games I've played, and ill always come back...
Okey doke, i'm probably failing to detect sarcasm but oh well.
Khaoserat
No no no no no...
Okay then haha xD
Ugh, I love the music but seriously I hate looking at the comments because everyone just wants to argue about the best elder scroll game when their is no "best" all were an amazing game for their time. Can we just please leave it at that?
Morrowind was by far the most beautiful to me
anyone else cry a little at the ending?
such a powerful performance and what a deluge of memories to bear! this series...what a beautiful reason to love life.
Why walk when you can ride?
Why ride when you can fly?
Morrowind > Daggerfall > Skyrim > Oblivion > Arena - Music
Oblivion > Morrowind > Daggerfall > Arena > Skyrim -Game
Amen Cortex
skyrim > oblivion > morrowind > daggerfall > arena - game
skyrim > all of them - music
zGmart Lee Psssh, yeah, because a bunch of testosterone-poisoned baritones making kung-fu noises is way more appropriate for this mythical land than a subtle, mysterious treatment of the tune that ends in a crescendo to capture the epicness.
If you honestly find Arena better than Skyrim, I'm afraid I can't take anything you write seriously...
Oblivion is more of a knight/pirate feel.
Indeed. Well you are technically a Knight in Oblivion. *hint hint* Knights of the Nine...
Feels like you went back in time rather than forward in Skyrim.
Well in skyrim it has harsh environments and different culture so... Meh I don't know.
Piano cover of Daggerfall make me cry, best intro of an ES ever
This video came out before skyrim
My personal favorite theme is Morrowinds, call to magic, and i sadly cannot choose a favorite game as i have only played skyrim.
Dude I never said that Morrowind was the musics name I said Morrowind's (it came from morrowind) Call to Magic (name of music).
OrionInfernal and he tells you to go and play that game
I hope to do so considering all the positive rep it has.
bregonz The graphics were not the problem of Morrowind, the dialogue system was. Really, it was annoying to hea-- read the same thing from everyone. I think over half of the NPCs had no unique dialogue lines at all. If you played only Skyrim, Orion, you should go for Olbivion first, it's a great game too.
LONG LIVE THE ELDER SCROLLS!!!!!!
man i remember watching this video back in my early skyrim days and i still remember it so vividly.
it's always nice to rewatch this cover
0:58 John Williams probably stole this melody to use as the basis of Across the Stars...
How many times did you have to try to do this right?
Every theme sounds like a prologue to the next one
The music goes so well with the atmospheres..
Found this appropriate to listen to now the TES VI has been announced ✨😭
Sadly, TES VI Isn't out Yet.
Elder Scrolls 6 ends up just being Skyrim remastered
Morrowind
Morrowind is the best
okay, this is by far the best piano covers of the elder scrolls themes I have ever heard
I want this to play at my funreal
For tamriel!!
I came here just for listening Morrowind’s theme and leave as a fan of Daggerfall’s…
I used to watch and listen to this when I was lil. Literally multiple times a day for probably a year
Why does *everyone* _constantly_ get the Arena theme _wrong_ ? Or at least, that bit of counterpoint at the beginning. It resolves *upwards* , not down. It bothers my ears. I cannot be the _only_ person who hears this.
Why do i feel so nostalgic when i've only played Skyrim?
Nerevar guide me.
Oblivion will always be my favourite I think. It was my first Elder Scrolls game, and nothing will ever beat that unreal level of freedom I felt when I completed the tutorial. The mountains in the background weren't decoration like I was used to in most games, they were a place to explore.
