The shoulders on punch should swing back, giving him a different look than counterpunch
Thanks to your review I’m keeping mine in car mode for good. I hate to be negative but this figure is a mess. Going forward I’m not getting any XTB car bots until I see a review first. I’m crossing my fingers that Runabout and Runamuck are good cause they’re two of my favorite characters from my childhood but I’m not confident at all. I really appreciate the review TM and the way you show all the steps in the transformation. Just a bummer this figure was better.

Ultimately it's such a hard character to do, due to the nature of his transformation. The shoulders being lose like that are less than ideal, but ultimately XTB are striving for the impossible with this character, and the elbow/shoulders aside it's not too bad. Think I'll just pick up one version now rather than two, and likely the Japanese version as there's a slim chance they'll fix the QC issues.
It’s crazy how similar the leg (not foot) transformation is on here to MMC streetwise. Also just proves MMC understands material and clearance better
There are many reports of breakages for these MMC figures, so I won't count them on being break-free.

I just transformed mine back to car mode. That's a whole new level of bending plastic and stress marks.
Really good review thank you. But he reminds me of a very bad KO. I had X trans bot hitch. I got it into a nice pose then I super glued it!
I own Xtransbots Trailbreaker, and I dare say it is the only Xtransbots I know of that isn't at risk of breaking. You still have to bend plastic though.
Klaatu is pretty solid, probably their best figure to date
Funny Fiero story. I had to replace the water pump on mine. After several trips back and forth to the parts house, eventually the guy just let me come to the stock area, and go box to box looking for the right fit. The winner? A 1978 "Ithink could be 79" Chevy truck, no $h!t! And about 2 years later, it caught fire, and burned all the way to the ground, in the mall parking lot lmao! All events depicted in the funny af tale, are closely based on real life events lol
XTB continues to disappoint..... My copy of their Omnibot broke during the first transformation. Despite that I was excited for Punch/Counter Punch but after watching reviews I've canceled all of my XTB pre-orders. I'm in wait and see mode from now on with them. Thanks for a great review.

Just got this one in and I totally agree with you! All the modes look great, but man….the way to go is nail bitingly bad! The part you broke almost broke with my transformation and I was extremely caution with it. I really don’t understand why they did it like that. Lucky for me, all the joints are tight, so that’s a big plus. Anyway, thanks for your instructions, I couldn’t have done without your help. Cheers

Thanks for the review! This and what I'm reading on TFW have me concerned enough to pass on the figure. Shame too. I feel like they almost had it if they did a little more quality control with the ratchets, screws, etc.

Car mode is beautiful, bot mode looks great but man….there’s no way XTB didn’t see the issues from the arms and shoulders. Sadly I may still get this as I like how it looks. And I’m a fan of the character…maybe the Japanese version will have improvements…maybe.
Yes, it always looks good, but the quality and build is just a dice roll
The elbows are like that so you get a double elbow bend on each of the robots. Granted, it's not a very clean looking double elbow, but it does give a lot more than 90 on the bend.
I don't mind the functionality, it's the floppiness that is the problem

I just can't understand why XTB keeps making transformations like this. I've had one too many unsatisfactory toys from them, and I've had breakages straight out of the box or on first transformation. I just can't justify taking the risk anymore.
I agree that most XTB transformations are a bear. I used a spudger to un-tab the front door hinges worked like a charm. The feet weren't too bad. overall mine is pretty tight except for the feet hinges. overall, not one of their worst Like the XTB Kup. lol

I wanted this figure purely cause I love punch/counterpunch but I think I'll cancel my pre order, the quality is shocking
You actually don’t have his shoulders correct in his Autobot form, they’re supposed to be swept back behind his shoulders.
But this is what I was fearing… I was ecstatic when they showed teasers for the Japanese version but had a lingering dread in the back of my mind that they could really go full old school KFC on the figures and be floppy, poorly toleranced messes.
I love xtb hauler, but my xtb stunticons are not doing well. Difficult to support them
Im seriously wondering if I should cancel my order. have a feeling this is going to be dirt cheap soon. That yellow gun looks like a missed opportunity to make a twin tail pipe when you plug it in underneath.

Thanks for the review, it is as I thought it would be. I'm gonna hard pass on this. I guess I'll be waiting on Fanstoys Diverge to get my next figure. On the bright side for you, Diverge's transformation looks like it'll take 3 minutes. X-Transbots last chance for me will be their constructicon set, they seem to do better the larger the figures get, but I watched Mangmotions transformation of the first figure and it did not fill me with confidence.

Thanks for your review. Sorry to see that yours broke. I agree that the vehicle mode is so good. It’s a shame that this was way over engineered very similar to their Streetwise. I ordered two, and the transformation was a real nightmare IMO. Some joints are way too tight, while others are way too loose. The instructions are also pretty poor and don’t do well to really explain the full transformation. I was able to transform mine without any breakage, but I’m really disappointed in their overall quality. I’m seriously concerned about their upcoming Runabout and Runamuck because those are two characters that I’ve longed for in my collection, and if their this bad, as far as quality and tolerances, it’ll be another disappointment for me. Sadly I think XTB needs to go back and seriously evaluate how they make their figures. Complex transformations and cheap plastics, aren’t the way to stay in the MP game. Many fans, aren’t going to spend the money for a figure with poor articulation, and can’t transform without something breaking. Appreciate your review of this, and I totally agree that this isn’t a recommended purchase. It’s way to delicate, and it barely makes the case for owning and adding to our shelves.
De esas figuras que si te arriesgas a comprarlas, mejor déjala en modo robot en la vitrina de exhibición 😬, por estas cosas paso de xtransbots, su long haul se ve bien, y me encanta devastator, pero comprarlo, y empezar a ver problemas de diseño y de calidad en la figura, me frustraria bastante, estuve dudando entre sí animarme o no con sus constructicons, pero mejor me quedaré esperando la versión mmc, lo que tenga que demorar. 👍
Just checked the Japanese version and its way better in the Joints all nice and stiff, even a bit too stiff, on the Legs. Ellbows great and Shoulders.

Bit disappointing that they didn't include a cover for the alt head, just flipping the face over looks ugly.
The weird feature that keeps popping into my head about XTB: the designs almost look like they'd work perfectly, but only if the figure was built 3 times larger & if they were made out of thicker plastic/stronger materials. At this scale, they're just too fiddly & easy to break. It's like they zoom in super close when putting together their CAD files, only to realise the tabs/clearances/plastic strength doesn't scale well when shrunk back down, but don't do anything about it. Then they build it out of the cheapest, most brittle plastic they can find. A real shame, as this is another character that looked good in the 3D renders but was executed poorly. And yes, I'm *still* bitter about buying the full set of the original XTB Scourge/Sweeps 😝
I own Andras, and till this day, I am left wondering. How the hell do they expect us to squeeze his foot through his ankles? This design could have been fixed by opening his shin, but they didn't, and expect us to pass plastic through other plastic.
@@mechgouki7999 Yah, exactly. One of several problems with that figure. It looks great in robot mode but aside from that, it's quite the pain in the arse, especially the first release (I hear the new metallic release changed the foot design).
Another XTB pass, their quality has hit rock bottom recently!

The shoulder joints ARE NOT ON PINS, THEY ARE ON SCREWS AND TIGHTEN UP BEAUTIFULLY!!!!!!!!!!
And the shoulder design is still total trash and will loosen over time simply from gravity, so it's a moot point.
XTB likes to Outdue Themselves...the Alt mode looks nice, but the bot mode is way over engineered, to the point of Failure. Why have 3 elbows when it can just be 1 reversible, same thing with the knees. The whole lower body can be spinnable at the pelvis just like Gobots in order to make more sturdy lower half. Heck thats just me, and I dont work for Keith...LOL. I will buy it on sale for Alt Mode.
I seriously doubt that Mr Bond, any of them, would ever drive a Pontiac Fiero or would want their Transformer counter-part to be one either.
I am guessing the name is the reference to him being a spy, not the car that bond would drive ....

I get it. It's cartoon accurate, but I think for the sake of design, it's okay to stray away from the original art. I mean come on, he looks like a happy meal toy.
1st run XTB figures are extreme gambles. You lose a lot more than you win with them.

In all seriousness, it seems there are screws you can tighten for the shoulders, but they're still clearly a bad design (which people are, of course, excusing already).
It's honestly wild to me how overcomplicated some of these figures become. He pretty much just has to turn around for the second robot, but they still managed to make it a fiddly mess.
Man, I am disappointed by this figure. I was really looking forward to him. Hopefully they make some fixes for the JP version.

There are 2 different KFC transistors. One is the silvery finish. Mine is the cheap glossy red plastic.
It's a shame that this figure has to many QC issues, because this could be a magnificent representation of a great character 😢😢

Sadly, yet again, XTB has come up short. They get so close to FT, almost like they want to FAIL and are Proud of it.
It's just Truly Frustrating as they lack the Polish, to the Finish, which always leaves them as a Bridesmaid, never the Bride.
I did order him, as I like that XTB is going after the other, if lesser well known, Beloved Characters.
IMO they are, depending on Character, 80 to 90% there. JUST POLISH OFF your Designs XTB! I know you can do it.
If the alt mode was a GT like the renders then maybe but now easy pass.
Ughh. I get angry just looking at this piece of S&@t. If anyone questions why they are repainting the inferno mold like 7 times look no further than this to remind you that mold was really their only good recent release.
i never understood this character, a robot turning into another robot, what the hell. but a transformation where you just turn the bot 180 and you're done is pretty lame not to mention that he would have been killed from behind by his allies a long time ago. its such a weak idea
With mine, I was super careful (as always) transforming him and managed it all w/o breaking or stressing the plastic - WHEW! Anyway, I watch these vids to see how it's done and know the problem areas that could break. Overall, I think he looks great as a car and his robot modes are okay, except for the head - I don't like that the faces just flip turn over and look fugly on the backside (the original G1 toy had a better design). The feet transformation sucks - Xtrans needs to stop over engineering these things and making such small delicate pieces like they do.

oh man what a shame, that is poooooooor. Aside from the joint issues why not paint the back of the faces black for when you reverse it looks like the back of the helmet.
As an XTB fan, I just can't even defend this, I mean.. wow what a disappointment. I don't know how many designers they have over there, but it certainly feels like their figures fall into 2 categories, amazing or garbage. All the garbage ones feel like they have the same designer or engineer, who clearly has no grasp of tolerances or common sense.
It doesn't even sound good. I can hear the low quality.
Cancelled. Too many of these bots have issues. I have some alredy in my stash but I'm not buying this line anymore. The quality just isnt't there for the cost.

That’s so disappointing. I had the original toy as a kid and loved it so I’ve been really looking forward to this release. And sadly, he’s so obscure I doubt anyone else will make one. 🫤
