I think I liked the Hey Arnold Valentines episode because it finally resolved that Ruth subplot that was with the show since the beginning. And resolved it in a way that shook Arnold from his obsession with a girl that would never be his (and, as it turns out, was not that great a catch anyway). So that our dear Football Head could finally move on...and maybe look for romance in his own age-group/supporting cast.
To me, what I liked in particular with that special was the heart of it along with how great it is written. Seriously, I have seen other shows tackle Valentines Day but often, I feel like they fail at it because it's either soulless or just cringey as all fuck. Hey Arnold's Special on the other hand was genuine in how much the characters have actual chemistry.
That Johnny Bravo special makes me wish that Johnny and Heather would have gotten a second date. Seriously. The guy met his perfect match. It's still one of my favorite episodes of Johnny Bravo because of how fun it was.
Wow, seeing the Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown one brought back so many memories. I can't believe that's still ingrained in me after not seeing it for like, 20 years. Peanuts does that I guess.
The one that springs to my mind is the DuckTales Valentine's special, in which Scrooge finds Cupid's arrows in a sunken temple, and an angry Aphrodite shows up to take them back (oddly, Cupid never appears), only to get stuck with an arrow herself and fall in love with Scrooge.
FamiliarFaces Yes, it did. It was called "A DuckTales Valentine". I seem to remember it being a prime-time 1/2 hour special. Here's the imdb page on it: www.imdb.com/title/tt1052555/
To me, the thing that Valentines Day specials usually tend to fail at (especially ones made for a younger audience.) is the heart and soul of it. Seriously, often it's either underwhelming or just complete cringe that really makes no sense in general. But ya know, there are some gems out there. You just have to look hard for them.
I always felt the Spongebob Valentines episode was a bit forgotten, seeing how I've only seen it on DVD. I remember watching the Johny Bravo and Peanuts ones as a kid. A lot of the other ones seem somewhat familiar, like the Ed, Edd and Eddie, Hey Arnold and the Invader Zim, but I don't know if I actually watched them or not.
7:55 I genuinely cringed when I watched Snoopy eat that piece of chocolate Also, falling in love with a teacher is a love story that'll just always hit close to home for me :^(
+FamiliarFacesChannel I have identified four of your 'Valentines' but two elude me. The four I have identified are Skeeter, Vincent, Jill, and Melody. Who are the other two? And what about Faye Valentine, from Cowboy Bebop?
I remember Winnie the Pooh Valentine episode, Be my Valentine Charlie Brown and Recess's Funny Valentines!! Thanks for showing the other specials CR! I'll check them out
The ending of the Johnny Bravo Valentine's Day special always left my inner hopeless romantic feeling depressed. **SPOILERS!** I was the type of fan who hoped that he would eventually meet a girl that genuinely liked him, and didn't want to beat him to a pulp upon first meeting him. And in this episode, that's exactly what happened. He had finally found the woman of his dreams, the ONE, and what happens? Status Quo marches on, and he's FORCED TO FORGET ABOUT HER. Just... NO. 😫 And even worse? THIS WAS THE SERIES FINALE. Instead of feeling satisfied, it just left me with a broken heart and a bitter taste in my mouth. You just couldn't let him be happy, could you, Cartoon Network?! 😡
+Jackie McCann Ahh but from tragedy arises comedy. Johnny Bravo being a comedic show thrives upon his misery. Alas, twas to be expected. Sad though it may be.
Well with Steven Universe coming to an end, they should have plenty of time to work at it. Not like either of them will have to want for money after all.
Haha, this was a great video! I actually watched some of these specials and liked them. Also, I'm surprised that you do watch current cartoons. I thought you only watch old cartoons from your times. Oh well, it was nice to know that you're one of those people who actually will watch current cartoons that are good instead of being stubborn and saying that the 90's cartoons are better. Anyway, Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!!!!😆💗💖💞💘💌💋💝
I completely forgot about the Uwu Trash Girl sight gag from the Rome-0 and Juli-8 segment of this video and when it flashed on screen I freaking cackled! 🤣🤣🤣
To FamiliarFaces: Think you'll ever do a review of Easter specials? I know they're rare compared to Christmas and Halloween but I'd love to see your review of Easter Fever (at least).
I'm not sure how to go frame by frame on the RUclips app. Did anyone happen to catch who appears for a single frame at the 12:26 - 12:27 mark? Right as CR says, "ideal mate"
Fireflies were in the film Pooh's Grand Adventure, so, it all depends on if the special takes place before or after Christopher Robin's first day of school.
"And no one could have been happier unless it would have also been Valentine's Day. What? It was? Hooray!" Robots make everything better and now I need to see Rome0 and Juli8.
Also, Pink did occasionally talk in the old cartoons but, like Furball on Tiny Toons, it happened only when there was no other way to deliver a punchline.
Of course Helga's insane. She's basically a modern day Lucy whom I'm sure we all know grows up to be a psychotic stalker considering how she treats Schroeder.
I really wish there was some legal way to purchase the Cartoon Network Valentine's specials. Even if you don't mind importing from another country's iTunes (though that's technically illegal...), there are still several standalone episodes of Cartoon Network shows not available to purchase like these and the lone Season 6 Ed, Edd n Eddy episode, as they weren't included in the show volumes or given a special holiday compilation (the latter of which being why Underfist can be purchased on the UK iTunes, as it's Halloween-related and thus included in a Halloween compilation). But yeah, good job.
Imagine if there's a show that is made up of Holiday Specials. like first episode would be christmas, the second would be St Patrick's day, next would be thanks giving. No holiday will be left out.
You want to make a good Romeo and Juliet? Have Romeo be a Super Robot pilot..and Juliet is a princess/elite commander of an alien race who is at war with humans. It works for Daimos.
I love the Pink Panther and Hey Arnold specials. ^^ Also as a side note, when they did give Pink a voice I think it was completly wrong for him, because in my local dub, instead of this kinda high wiseguy voice, they gave him a much deeper, smoother voice, a bit like Pepe Le Pew without the accent.
I'm very surprised i know that Valentine's song you use for your transitions. Here Comes Peter Cottontail, the original stop-motion version, If I remember correctly. Nice video by the way, nice to see a little something to distract me that it's nearly Valentine's again.
YAY! So happy though part of me kind of wishes I saved this until Valentine's Day. Oh well. Valentine's Day is a holiday I feel can't be put into one category. Unless a movie or special is willing to go into every facet of romantic couplings like straight, gay, trans, robot, alien, etc then I will be waiting a while. Maybe it will happen but yeah unlike other holidays Valentine's is rooted depending on what type of couple is being formed. I hope that wasn't too political. Anyway I enjoyed seeing all the specials on here. A lot I didn't know existed and some I remember fondly. Hope you have a happy valentine's and are able to see Deadpool. xxxooo
Thhank god The Ed, Edd, and Eddy special was on here... None of will ever forget the Time Goku, as the Son of a Shepard Fought Cupids with a Mop and Janitorial Bucket.
4:56 "Unthaw"!? Was Charlie Berens one of the writers?!😏 9:58 Um, aren't you a teacher?🤨 13:45 Maybe it's best that we don't know.😉 18:36 Oh...and IIRC the giant robot's name was Spare Partsky.🙂
When I was a kid in 1999 when i watch the episode of power rangers in space where zhane gets a date with anros's little sister I watch it on valentine's day when I got home from school that episode was called a date with danger
"If Marie wasn't clearly the best Kanker!" Damn straight!
+TheHeroOfTomorrow well she's definitely the msot conventionally attractive of the three.
I love the idea of Peridot and Tom Servo!
Well they got Joel Hodgeson, so it won't surprise me if Kevin Murphy made a guest appearance on Steven Universe.
I think I liked the Hey Arnold Valentines episode because it finally resolved that Ruth subplot that was with the show since the beginning. But then Lila came along.
@@the-nina-beans88 And faded out JUST as suddenly with Arnold basically realizing "eeeh I don't think this is for me" in Timberly Loves Arnold.
Another great video! Thank you for making them even when they don't get the attention they deserve.
+McNabbot Well share them when you can if you feel that way.
Haha I usually don't share any videos, I just don't think about it, but i'll share this one for sure.
Great to see another one of these! Your seasonal lists always manage to get me in a festive mood! Also, enough recommendations to last me a week...
I just discovered your videos a few weeks back, and I was wondering if you were still making them. This was a pleasant surprise!
I was actually just wondering when the next FF would be :D
Ah, I missed Familiar Faces. Great to have one up in time for the holiday! You did a good job on this on, CR. Loved the title card for it!
That Johnny Bravo special makes me wish that Johnny and Heather would have gotten a second date. Seriously. The guy met his perfect match. It's still one of my favorite episodes of Johnny Bravo because of how fun it was.

+animagusurreal You see now everyone is reminding me of all this episodes. But did it take place on Valentines? I can't remember.
FamiliarFaces Yes, it did. It was called "A DuckTales Valentine". I seem to remember it being a prime-time 1/2 hour special. Here's the imdb page on it: www.imdb.com/title/tt1052555/

7:55 I genuinely cringed when I watched Snoopy eat that piece of chocolate
Also, falling in love with a teacher is a love story that'll just always hit close to home for me :^(
Good to hear from you again, CR!! Any more Familiar Faces on the way? *crosses fingers*
i hope so
Tsiki Condor I'm hoping for Maggie Reed from Gargoyles. Been waiting on that one since 2012.
Wow
I'm still waiting for him to make a list of Easter specials. Please let this be the year!
This is why I subscribe to this channel. Familiar Faces is awesome.
Great vid! I remember the Pink Panther special so its good to see it mentioned.
I share the same birthday as Johnny Bravo...My life is complete.
Finally: someone else who ships Peridot and Tom Servo!
This is just in time for my birthday! Cool! Great video. 😆😃
+FamiliarFacesChannel I have identified four of your 'Valentines' but two elude me. The four I have identified are Skeeter, Vincent, Jill, and Melody. Who are the other two? And what about Faye Valentine, from Cowboy Bebop?
Very nice to see another one of these. Penhellapee Pumpkin was hilarious. :)
definitely sharing this on insta.
have a great upcoming weekend, and valentine's day
Peridot and Tom Servo. I'll ship it.
circumscribedshipping, or absoluteshipping. Take your pick
Tbh I kinda like Peridot X Lapis
Kimberly and tommy I ship it too
Marie lives in a trailer and yet her family somehow gets by. All I'm saying is that its not that surprising she rocks at chemistry.
*Mae
I remember Winnie the Pooh Valentine episode, Be my Valentine Charlie Brown and Recess's Funny Valentines!!
Thanks for showing the other specials CR! I'll check them out
I love the those Valentine Cards they are very cute :3

THAT WAS THE SERIES FINALE!?!?!?
Jackie McCann i don't get it.
''Tak: The Hideous New Girl'' is a serious contender for my favorite episode of Invader Zim.
Wait johnny bravo has the same birthday as me?!
Sweet! Hi hah huh! *poses*
Nice of you to give Cathy some love. Would you be able to review the other two specials?
12:05
Marlene Otter is best girl....FOR SKIPPER!
Shes best girl for Skipper.
Great list, CR! I might have to check those out sometime.
As far as your ships go: "Peridot and Tom Servo" Eh, maybe. "Pacifica Northwest and Dipper Pine" Right there with ya, buddy.
The Steven Universe clip was perfectly used XD
I too hope that Peridot and Tom can make it work...
+AussieDragoon Oh god. I know you meant Tom Servo, but my initial thought was of Tom the Rock from MLP.
+AussieDragoon Keep dreaming! Everyone knows Peri likes them Purple and Plump!
Well with Steven Universe coming to an end, they should have plenty of time to work at it. Not like either of them will have to want for money after all.
10:50 - y'know I should have expected to see that clip but surprisingly I didn't XD
Peridot and Tom Servo? I... don't have words.
Haha, this was a great video! I actually watched some of these specials and liked them. Also, I'm surprised that you do watch current cartoons. I thought you only watch old cartoons from your times. no, the first time the pink panther talked was in a cartoon called pink ice. it came out June 13, 1965
I completely forgot about the Uwu Trash Girl sight gag from the Rome-0 and Juli-8 segment of this video and when it flashed on screen I freaking cackled! 🤣🤣🤣
love the pantheress from the pink panther
To FamiliarFaces: Think you'll ever do a review of Easter specials? I know they're rare compared to Christmas and Halloween but I'd love to see your review of Easter Fever (at least).
It sucks that the Ed, Edd n’ Eddy valentine episode isn’t in HBO max.
I'm not sure how to go frame by frame on the RUclips app. Did anyone happen to catch who appears for a single frame at the 12:26 - 12:27 mark? Right as CR says, "ideal mate"
Nevermind, I got it on a random pause. It's the youngest Chipette.
And to quote Hermes Conrad, "That just raises further questions!"
@@CalaveraCandy it's based off a racy fan comic that was going around on CO at the time. I often insert jokes that one 3 or four people will get.
@@FamiliarFacesChannel And that's only one of the reasons I love your videos.
Great job as always Chad!!

That Tesla valentine looked pretty awesome.
were you... shocked?
Also I think Dipper/Pacifica was more or less confirmed.
Actually, Stephen Shea played Linus on 7 specials, including the aforementioned Valentines Special, plus the movie Snoopy Come Home.
Of course Helga's insane. She's basically a modern day Lucy whom I'm sure we all know grows up to be a psychotic stalker considering how she treats Schroeder.
There was apparently a Valentines special for the Offbeats from Kablam.
Oh God, this video was perfect.
Wow, I remember watching that Hey Arnold special and not realizing how... messed up that was, hehe
Goddamn CR, you always make amazing and informative videos.
4:16
And then Sora came along...
10:42 Well on the bright side Chad, Dib actually got Tak's ship in the end of it all.

I can't be the only one that noticed that sexual innuendo in the bear cartoon right?
i see what you did there with Mai Valentine with her name & the cards :)
7:55 Wait why is Snoopy eating chocolate?
My dad's birthday is on Valentine's day too. But he's nothing like Johnny Bravo.
I don't see "The Adventures of Candy Claus" in your Christmas video collection, CR.
God I love Chad's art.
I really love the Bob's burgers valentines episodes.

Great title card.
Christopher Robin wants everyone to be his valentine.
