The 97 and 98 Jazz team defeated some deeply talented teams in both those conference Finals. The 97 Rockets team was a super team with 3 HOF NBA superstars while the 98 Lakers team had 4 all-stars on it.
The Jazz lost because of details. In game 1, Malone missed 2 clutch free throws and in game 6 Shandon Anderson missed an easy layup in the last minute.
And hornacek was a one legged cripple and Sloan refused to play criss Morris and Greg foster very much even tho they had both played well the entire playoffs.. And oh YEAH- pippen Jordan kukoc. .
Jerry Sloan once said the Seattle SuperSonics were the hardest hurdle to pass through in the west and he was glad the jazz didn’t have to play them in 1997
Sonics were definitely the most talented team in the West. They gave Rockets a lot of trouble also and the Rockets were glad they didn't have to face the Sonics during their championship years as well. Luckily for Utah and Houston, Seattle had choking issues and were fragile mentally which is why they would lose to upstart teams like the the Nuggets and Lakers in 94 and 95. When Rockets acquired Barkley they had gained the missing piece to finally allow them to take down the Sonics in 97 and in 98 they had no answer for Shaq not to mention Baker came up small in that series.
my dude i am a millenial and i watched every series the jazz pacers and bulls played between 1996 and 1999 but if u say so fam. lots of millenials grew up on 90s basketball and the NBA will never be like this again. the nostalgia i feel is off the fkn charts.
I was at game 6 back in 1998 as a 10 year old, believe me I was upset my Jazz didn't win. I believe this Jazz Squad was the only legit threat to Jordan's legacy. Had the Jazz won in 1997 and 1998, we would be viewing Jordan differently now.
@@millabasset1710 I also witnessed a couple of really disappointed jazz fans on 06-14-98 and I'm speaking in general when I say for necessary reasons that vary there are times when you have to mentally hurt others to better yourself period no questions asked at all
I'm still disappointed, 97 & 98 the Jazz could've been world champions and the Utes could've been national champions. Nothing sucks worse than 2nd place. The Jazz still haven't won a title and never will over the next 40 years, calling it now.
Thas y they lost both finals. Laughing n playing games about that lucky ass shot stockton hit against my hometown Houston Rockets straight luck we was suppose 2 go 2 tha finals that year. They ran in2 a different animal tho (🐐) MJ!🏀🎯

Ananias Andrada Shandon Missed 2 Key lay ups
Actually, Anderson missed it because Pippen grabbed the hoop which made the ring shake, should've been a goaltending
Great video. Thx for uploading this.

I'm guessing the "Show Me The Title" bit with Antoine Carr on the phone was inspired by Jerry Maguire
God, wait this is a Utah thread...gosh...i miss the 90's. Everything was better plus millennials weren't even thought of yet!!!

Millenials were born between 1981 and 1996 sooooo you're wrong, fucking dumb mormon boomer LMAO
Millennials are 1984 to 1999 smart guy
Well clyde the glide..m ya got your wish... How'd it work out for ya ?
the jazz played the bulls better in the 1997 finals than certain opponents including the 1991 lakers 1992 blazers 1993 suns 1996 sonics and 1998 jazz

@@millabasset1710 okay but the 1998 pacers and 1992 knicks took the bulls to 7 games

Every Jazz player looked 45
Gotta love Ostertag. probably the best center of all time.

64-18
the playoffs count the most
in the 1997 playoffs 100% of the teams with home court advantage advanced
out west #3 vs #6 should've been the sonics vs wolves and #2 vs #7 rockets vs suns
the rockets had HOME COURT ADVANTAGE over the sonics and the league shouldn't have gone by divisions
