We have a very similiar treat in Mexico. We call then Tarugos. We also toss them in spicy chile powder for those who like 'em spicy. One of my favorite. Its wonderful to see similarities across the world.
I have tried the Tamarind balls rolled in chilli powder in LA n I loved it so much🙋🏾♀️👌🏾😋Thank you for the name,I can get the recipe now🙏😇Best Wishes 🌺 from Nepal 🙋🏾♀️💜🌹
Dear Ms. Faye: I have learned so much from watching all of your videos. Due to my mom's heath declining, isn't able to cook her beloved Jamaican food anymore so this is wonderful. I was remiss in not learning when I had the opportunity so I have a soft spot for your daughter who is helping you to diarize these recipes for posterity and for others interested in carrying on these traditional recipes. I have many cookbooks that I have purchased over the years but seeing you make the recipes brings everything to life for me. Blessings!!

The stems that you discarding you save them and boil them in water then strain add sugar to taste with a dash of angoustura and a dash of cinnamon and serve with ice Please don't throw away the stem and the seeds you can sew a little cloth pouch put the seeds into it and make a bean bag for the kids to play catch childhood games.
Thank you for explaining how to make this amazing recipe. I will be making these today and will experiment with sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon coating. I made tamarind ice pops with extra creamy oat milk and roasted the seeds for coffee. May you and your loved ones stay blessed. ❤
Thank you! I bought Tamarind Beans to try them and didn't know what to do with them. I was eating them raw. But now I have lots of ways to use them. I love them.
I was given a store bought variety while working night shift with a Filipino coworker. They were so good i immediately ordered tamarind paste online and bought some brown cane sugar. I can't wait to make some!!! They are amazing!!!
i love sodas, candies, fruits every day. so i like to find ways to get the same flavors and satisfaction in without food made mostly of corn syrup. this dish looks heavenly. i feel like it would fit well on my candy shelf with candied fruit peels and whatever else i find that works as healthier candy options. great demonstration. liked and subbed.
These look totally awesome. Thanksa lot for showing. I tried tamarind candies (thai, gotta say though) for the first time today from the Asian supermarket I was visiting for ramen and mochi.. No idea what I was getting, and never ate anyting like it - very sweet, so salty at the same time, tart, aaaand spicy. All good things at once, and so intense. _Love!_ Must be even more amazing whith fresh fruits.
I love tamarind balls as a child and still do as an adult. I also loved stewed tamarind and tamarind drink as a child when my mother made it. I did not learn to make either, stewed tamarind or drink. Would you consider doing both, please. Just a thought. I have been living outside of Jamaica for many years and have learned to cook Jamaican dishes from your video. Please do not stop posting your recipes. God Bless.
Thank you for the video! I love tamarind - I make a drink out of it (tamarind-aid or tamarindo as they call it in Mexico), its good as a meat sauce etc. So versatile!
WAIT! WHAT!! That’s it? So hold up I’ve been ripping myself off by buying them at the store, a small bag of Tamarind balls costs me $2.50-3.00. OMG! I usually I get at least 5 to 6 bags, because the store is literally 30mins away. Wow, I straight up played myself . 🤦🏾♀️ But hey, it’s all good they got me a few times but I’ll be dam 😂 😂 If I don’t make my own Tamarind balls. Thank you ma’am for sharing.
Nice!! Specify, that it is BROWN sugar, I think, you add first, then WHITE sugar for coating the paste. Nice work, lady's, Thanks again!! Wonderful!! Keep up the good work!!
I picked up some tamarind today but noticed most of it has white spots on the inside, like a spider web type thing :( is the fruit supposed to be brown all the way through?
