Grrat song also for when we think about eternal life. Someone had said, we're not getting older [if we are a Christian] just closer to God's throne [ and an eternity with God and others in Heaven].

Easter has nothing to do with Jesus or his resurrection... its pagan and it was being celebrated well before Jesus was ever born

    • @marjieyoung9570
      @marjieyoung9570 3 года назад

@@williamkmitta5893 I don't agree. I am well aware of the pagan spring time pagan festivals celebrating fertility and new births and that these rituals at the equinoxes were being observed for a very long time before Jesus came, however, Passover is at this time and Jesus was indeed crucified at Passover and was raised from the dead 3 days later which resulted in the Christian holiday of Easter, more aptly and happily called Resurrection Sunday. I usually do say Resurrection Sunday, but for some reason said Easter this time but don't know why since it was 7 months ago. Still there is nothing wrong with saying Easter. After all, I am a Christian who preceded the "happy Easter" with "He is risen indeed." There is nothing to be gained with legalistic semantics. I am not celebrating Easter with rabbits and eggs which are symbols of fertility.
"Easter, also called Pascha (Greek, Latin) or *Resurrection Sunday,* is a festival and holiday *commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead,* described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day after his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD. It is the culmination of the Passion of Jesus, preceded by Lent (or Great Lent), a 40-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance."
You might as well go on to tell me Christmas has nothing to do with the birth of Jesus now also as we know that has pagan roots too. Thing is, it's not pagan the way we Christians celebrate it. Let them celebrate their winter solstice; we will celebrate the coming of our Lord and Savior, the incarnation and birth of Jesus Christ (regardless of his actual date of birth, which is irrelevant). By the way, Merry Christmas!

@@marjieyoung9570 well you learned how to google, but you fail to realize that jesus isn’t even proven to die on a Friday and let’s say he did, he said 3 days and 3 nights meaning 72hrs and Sunday would hardly be 60, so it wouldn’t of been Sunday, we know that the religion of Christianity is given in example by the 1st century Christians, who nowhere in the Bible celebrated Easter, and since you want to so kindly bring up Christmas like 2:7-8 tells us that the shepherds were in the fields, we know that during the winter they were not in the fields... if you need more evidence, the romans called a census which happened either in summer or fall, never the winter because people couldn’t travels during the winter and many died, besides when Jesus was already alive why do you set aside one day a year to celebrate something that should always be important and always be studying however most denominations such as Catholics tell you not to study the Bible, why would they do that? Maybe because they can fill your head with whatever gets them power and money, liberal congregations such as that do repetitive chants in place of prayer, are you kidding me, none of it is from your heart and people like that should be ashamed of themselves and have only themselves to blame to never picking up the word

@@williamkmitta5893 Dearheart, I've known this information long before the advent of Google. In my opinion Google is nothing more than a digitized and vast, albeit flawed, set of encyclopedias to be used as a handy tool to research information, or in this case, find a quick quote to copy and paste for the benefit of hecklers who shouldn't have to take my word for it. You'll notice I provided qouted text above to support my own assertion in my response to you, a response which was not from google. As much as I'd like to blame Google, I've been a Miss Kow-It-All long before Google or even the internet ever came around. I wish I could show you my library of actual books which is my idea of the ultimate google. But alas, we've got to roll with the times, right?
And with that, let's set to right some factual errors you've got going on and some references so you can look this up on your own. I'll be citing the highest authority on the matter and I'll give you a hint: it isn't Google 😉.
Let's begin. Jesus was crucified at the time of Passover.
Matt. 26:17 Now on the first day of the Feast of the Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, "Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat Passover?" 18 And He said, "Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, 'The Teacher says, "My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples."'"
Passover is specifically established by God, both the time and instructions on how to observe it. See Exodus 12:6, 18-20. We can clearly see when Passover is to be held.
Continue reading in the gospel of Matthew --it's really handy for this because it was the gospel written to the Jews and Matthew thoroughly established who Jesus is and recorded what happened and when, expressly for the witness to an unbelieving Jew to prove beyond a doubt the validity and undeniable truth of the account-- so I'll work from here, but reference other addresses which I strongly encourage you to look up. Jesus kept the Passover with His disciples and instituted the Lord's Supper, vv 26-30. That evening they went out to the Mount of Olives, to the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus was arrested and "tried" by the Sanhedrin. The following morning, chapter 27, verse 1, Jesus was delivered to Pontius Pilate and was questioned by him concerning the matter. In verse 15 we see confirmation we are still at the time of the feast of the Passover. It was customary to release one prisoner to the people of their choosing. They chose to release Barabbas instead of Jesus. In verses 45-50 we see the Bible is *so* specific about the time of Jesus' death it not only tells us the day, but also the time: about the 9th hour (which was about 3 o'clock). Then we see the body of Jesus being hastily prepared for burial, hastily because of the *time* of the death of Jesus. A good Jew did not handle a dead body or any other unclean thing during the Sabbath, which begins at sundown Friday. Since Jesus died in the afternoon that left precious little time to do much in the way of preparing a body for burial so they wrapped His body quickly and placed it in a new tomb planning to return on the first day of the week, which is Sunday (refer to Luke below). See chapter 28, verse 1 for the time and day.
You made a mistake when you said Jesus was dead for 3 days *and 3 nights.* The Bible doesn't say that. It says He was dead 3 days, not 3 days and 3 nights. See Matt. 27:40 and also verse 63 "saying, "Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deciever said, "After three days I will rise." The Bible doesn't say 3 days and 3 nights. What it says is He rose again on the third day, on the first day of the week in the early morning which is Sunday morning. Hence forth Sunday has been called the Lord's Day and Christians have met to fellowship together ever since on Sunday. If you remember the Lord's Supper, Jesus told them to eat and drink in remembrance of Him, of His death, burial and resurrection. Jews celebrate Passover and the sacrifice, Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus because it was the work of salvation from sins accomplished. As you can see, the Bible very clearly tells us when Jesus died and how long He was dead for and which day it happened on.
For cross referrencing purposes, please also read the other accounts of this in Mark chapter 14:1 through 16:11, Luke 22:1 through 24:8 (verse 24:1 tells us why they went to the tomb), and John 13:1 through 20:31, which gives an extremely well detailed account.
As you can see, Christians have a well established and Biblical reason to celebrate Resurrection Sunday, aka, Easter at the time of Passover, Friday being the day He died and Sunday being the day He was raised from the dead. As I said about Christmas, it's not important which day Jesus was born, only that He was born. If the exact day had been important God would have specifically stated when Jesus was born. As we are told it was during the time of census which was probably sometime in August, but it's a guess for us. The point I was making about Christmas before was that the time is irrelevant, the event itself is crucial so we remember the event. There are winter solstice festivals celebrated by the pagans, but we Christians are celebrating the birth of Christ, not the winter soltice, therefore Christmas is about the birth of Christ. Even the pagans acknowledge this by their insistence on saying things like "Winter" festivities, "Seasons greetings," and "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas." They are literally trying to take Christ out of CHRISTmas. And you know, that's okay with me if the pagans want to clarify they are not celebrating the birth of Jesus, but we Christians ARE celebraring the birth of Jesus at Christmas time and Jesus is the entire "reason for the season"...to borrow a very popular quote.
I'm not a Catholic and I have no intention to defend that organization or others like it. What I am is a true believer and follower of Jesus Christ who has an insatiable love and desire to study and learn all I can about the one true God whom I love so much. I don't chant or recite vain repetive prayers like some sort of a magic mantra. I talk to God from my heart, which was turned from stone and made flesh, made alive to God by God Himself. Since unbelievers still have hearts of stone and are dead in their treaspasses they don't need our derision and condemnation, what they need is the gospel. How can we, sinners saved by grace, feel superior in any way at all to the lost? I am reminded of the Pharisee who thanked God that he was not like that tax collector, but the tax collector beat his hand upon his breast and kept his head bowed as he cried out to God to be merciful to him, a sinner.
Luke 18:9, "Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men-extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ 13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’" We are no better than the lost, we have nothing to be proud about. We need to have love and compassion enough to lovingly share the gospel with all.
A final thought, it was also in the book of John, chapter 13, verses 34 and 35 in which Jesus gives a new commandment:
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." We can recognize a Christian easily by the love they show for the brethren. I must gently ask you, as, I assume, a professing Christian, how are you doing in that department? By your interactions with me I am concerned for your relationship with God as evidenced by your relationship with your brothers and sisters in Christ. I gave a simple affirmation that Christ is risen indeed and wished my brethren a Happy Easter. Do you really think you are acting in accordance with the will of God here? If so, are you going about it the right way? With love? I emplor you to earnestly examine yourself and make sure you truly glorifying God as is our purpose.

Before I was certain that God lives, according to the Bible , I had all sorts of doubts and fears.
Each verse of this song 🎵is so full of meaning and promise.

      1.
      God sent his son.
      They call him jesus,
      he came to love.
      Heal and forgive
      He lived and died to
Buy My pardon. An empty grave is there
      to provemy savior lives.
      Because he lives
      I can face Tomorrow.
Because he lives All fear is gone
      Because he lives
      2. How sweet to hold a newborn baby. and feel
The pride and joy he gives
But greater still the calm assurance. This
      child can face
      Uncertain days
      because he lives
      Because he lives
      I can face Tomorrow
      Because he lives
      All fear is gone
Because I know he holds the future And life is worth the living just because he lives
3 . and then one day I'll Cross the River I'll fight life's final war
With pain and then as death
Gives Way to victory I'll see the lights of glory
      And I'll know he lives
Because I know he holds the future and life is worth the living just because he lives
