I'll tell you what my experience is! We THE LOYAL HITFILM USERS can't upgrade to this version because all those ADD-ONS we bought through the years CAN'T BE USED !!!! What an asshole move! Shame on you FXHOME !

Hitfilm’s biggest selling point was the fact that you could use their software for free without watermarks. You could pay small fees for extra features, but basic editing could be done if you took the time to learn the software. Going the route of subscriptions completely kills that. Thankfully archived versions exist so you can redownload an old version if you want to stick with the free version with your purchases carrying over.
i cant find any archived versions.

I'm incredibly dissapointed in Hitfilm with this update. I have used the software for a while now, and i often used a custom preset for my videoes when exporting, which now is locked behind a paywall.
However the custom preset is still available in the new free version, but when i exported my video with my custom preset i got an annoying watermark on the video.
This update is not good, having to pay monthly now to experience a feature the same way i experienced it in the old version for free is incredibly frustrating.
I'm honestly just keeping the old version and not updating, that way I still have everything. FXhome has really gone down since the Artlist purchase.
I know. I just spent $300 updating with all the plugins.I like the fact that it was free and u could update with a small fee for the plugin that you needed or wanted. if I upgrade. I cant use them anymore. you will not own anything and you will be happy with monthly payments to use it, starting with physical items now. Its coming, no good for the future. we need to stand up and say no. I personally feel like companys are on this cash grab,
Same here. I was like what happen now why watermark now when before it was ok. They just took it down. They should leave the old features for the people that already purchase some of the options before. Like in the older updates. Not just change everything.
honestly dude just switch to davinci resolve. its also free and its 10X better than hitfilm.

True. If you want to keep your old workflow and settings DO NOT UPDATE! I just did and I deleted the old version (HitFilm 15) just to make space for the new one thinking it would be the same. Now, the older versions of Hitfilm Express are NOT OFFERED for download so now I'm stuck. Seriously consider if you are ok with the Monthly Subscription or any other changes. In short, this sucks.
UPDATE: I emailed Hitfilm through the Support page on their website. They got back to me in a day or so and sent me the link to redownload the version I had (15)! Additionally, I also later asked about Hitfilm 16 and they sent me the download link for that as well. Hope this helps and that they can do the same. Good luck!
Just installed hitfilm for a small project, glad I learned about the watermark now before I put lots of energy in! Thank you for the video
Yea, a lot of things has changed. I hope they go back and fix some things. If you're looking for another recommendation I'd say try DaVinci Resolve

@@EJTech. I tried it... now that it's not smooth in my computer thought hitfilm as an alternate to davinci but due to watermarks I don't think I'm going to use hitfilm.
I'm disappointed they went with a subscription model. Time to start looking elsewhere.

I agree also. Hitfilm ended from now on. I hate paying a montly fee.
What is a good software to use? I'am learning blender on the moment. But it a bit to big and difficult.
I would recommend using DaVinci Resolve
@@EJTech. Don't you need a powerful computer to use Davinci Resolve? I tried it and experienced issues when i tried using effects on my project, i got kicked out of the software.
Depends on what specs you have. I know when using fusion it does require a pretty powerful system. However, if you need a 2nd option you can always go with Shotcut, VSDC or just keep using the old Hitfilm Express version.
I will not upgrade and stay with old version until i find something else
I'm very dissatisfied with this new update, even though i had some problems with the old version, i prefer that over this new version.

I was trying to figure out why my Hitfilm express wasn't working, then I came across this update.....so disappointed as soon I saw how many watermarks they are now.
Welp, time to jump ship into Davinchi Resolve and re learn everything ig. *facepalm*
i still use the 2019 Version. If it aint broke don't fix it . HitFilm pulled a 2013 XBox One E30 Conference on us :) :) :) i've always felt like the day would come coz it's been Too Good for long :)
1) Every time I open Hitfilm, I'm accosted with "upgrade now" bullshit. But I don't open the new Hitfilm very often, because...
2) I cannot use it without it locking up and crashing my system. I can do everything, until I want to actually hit play in the editor. The timeline moves, the audio plays, but the video never advances at all, and as soon as I try to stop it or let it run past the end of the content, it dies, and wants to send a message to Microsoft, which must be really tired of the messages by now. I can step through the video. I can drag the marker through the video. But I can't actually hit play. I suppose I could learn to never hit play, but old habits are hard to break.
3) I'm still using Hitfilm Express, and being accosted there, to upgrade every time I open it. But I'm 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 glad I didn't delete it when I installed the new Hitfilm.
When i edit the videos everything is a bit slow and laggs but when i export, the final product has a lot of glitches. Usually at the end of the video. Please help. Thank you 🙏😭
I don't know why but this reminds me of the older version of hitfilm when it kind of when it looked like a little bit of Adobe Premiere the new logo isn't doing for me There is also a way to download older versions of the program the link still works however some older versions may have bugs or no longer is there I am not going to put the link because I am afraid that the team may remove it

im glad i had the latest update of hitfilm express, if i need to upgrade ill just buy the perpetual license. If they remove that option and go FULL subscription i'll just go back to adobe.
There is something that bugs me with HitFilm, perhaps you can help me?
I just downloaded HitFilm to make a short video with various pictures put together with music, I used some transition-effects that were in the program, I did not use any where it said "Upgrade" on. I had two video-layers, because the background in some pictures had to be white and not black. When I exported, however, I always got a giant watermark on it. I paid for Creator, and I still got the huge watermark, which for me does not make sense, for what is the purpose of a subscription if it still gives watermarks? Could it be because the video is too big?
I am trying to upgrade to Pro for a month, but it seems to refuse without customer service, which I find odd and frustrating. Do you know what I might have done wrong?
I have no idea what's been going on with Hitfilm lately. Some people commented about the same thing. Your case is different since you have a subscription. I can talk to some Artlist Representative to ask, but thats the best I can do to get you an answer.
I had hitfilm pro a few years back. Handy for short clips with visual effects. But trying to edit anything longer than a couple of minutes was a tale of ten crashes. I also had a slightly more modern hitfilm express where i paid for most of the add ons. I wonder what I can get with my account with this new version? I might be locked out completely.
just a question, i still use hitfilm express but i want to know: does the subscriptions for the new hitfilm also give add ons for express? cuz i like express but dont need the new one and still want access to add ons for my montage editing...
A lot of users reported not being able to acess their purchased add-ons when they updated. So I'd wait and just use the express version until they make some changes.
I‘ve tried to fix the watermark with the new version for many hours and i just found the comments here, I so disappointed with Hitfilm now.

They limit the video dimension with the new one. So when i tried to make shorts it actually needs to pay for premium to make shorts
But one problem is does it have free water mark or not, if not have to pay for it second thing does have all the system like stretch the video size not just crop and resize it in most part is those the videos after washing out or exporting will stay the same video after edition in HitFilm. 😐 Need know the down side first.
Yea he's really doesn't want to point out the bad features of this whole lets change to a subscription model and give everyone watermarks. Kinda of a scummy video to me.
When I was testing the editor it didn't export with a watermark. I wasn't aware of that change until the video was posted. You can look at all the comments where I have commented not change to the new version and keep the old version, so...

I bought many plugins for much money in Hitfilm Express.
Now in Hitfilm I have to start with.... NOTHING!!!!!
If I wanted to have the same stage, I would have to rebuy all those plugins.

I converted back to shotcut after this when i finish the office and lay off the laptop i can finally return to premiere and after effects
Ive tried to use davinci resolve but it just would not work for me I just could not open it, it kept showing me the unsupported GPU proccsing mode so I got really frusterated with davinci resolve so I switched to hitfilm and I like it but I wish I could export in 4K without the watermark but 1080p is enough so its not that big of a deal but something to keep in mind, and yeah if someone knows how to fix the davinci resolve error thing that kept happining let me know thank you.
It's definitely better now than it was when you wrote this comment in my opinion. I've used davinci resolve for a year at this point now, and coming from a former premiere pro + after effects user and also hitfilm user, davinci resolve studio is insanely powerful, even the free version is good enough for most people.
is there a way to drag a png file from the center of your video and still have it in frame but to the side. And if so, can you rotate it too?

@@EJTech. thank you!! I found that very helpful, but I've ran into another problem. after a while of using FX home Hitfilm I decided to get hitfilm pro, but the watermarks are still there. Should I uninstall and reinstall it, orrrrrr... what?
After getting the Pro Version? I would double check that you're signed in properly. And if that doesn't work, I would contact customer support.
That's a great coincidence because i've been subscribed to artlist anyways and i'm using hitfilm express. So i'll just cancel my artlist subscription and get hitfilm pro. Like that i'll have everything for the same price i've already been paying.
I would wait before you do that, because apparently, Fx home has restricted even more features, behind a pay wall and it's being a real inconvenience for some users.

Yes, you can check all the perks it gives you in each version based on which one you choose. I believe that you will be able to sign in with your artlist account as well, but I'll have to double check to be sure.

Well good thing I'm not needing an update, still using the older version I got in 2020 or 2021
It runs smoothly and it's pretty easy to find your way around once you get used to it.. EXCEPT, even tho you don't use any of the "premium features" it still slaps a big fat watermark over your video. Can't even import a single image without it being a "premium feature"? So much for it being free.

I was furious as well, because I spent over 300 euros in Hitfilm Express, and for Hitfilm they would force me to rebuy the same stuff for another 350 Euros....
How greedy they are...
I asked if they could transfer the amount already payd to the account to pay only the difference.

NO WARNING and my HitFilm full version suddenly stopped with a message (You're currently offline). I tried to go online to sign in and it would just be like I hadn't signed in at all so I reset the password and they sent me an email to do it and that did not work. I can't sign into my account so I am sending a message via RUclips to see if I can get support. If I need an upgrade then why not send me an email and why cut me out of my account? This is very odd behavior for a company to do and I may have to make a video on it so that others can see what happened.
is hitfilm safe? last time i downloaded a editing software i got hacked, after that got sorted ive been using clip champ for my videos
Its hasn't caused any problems for me. Although you might want to try installing the older version. Since this one has a watermark as far as I know.
Do not use the new hitfilm. It will watermark your videos even if you are not using any of their paid features.

I CANT EXPORT WITHOUT GETTING ERRORS
With a lot of consumer video products now offering 10-bit recording (DJI, GoPro, Canon, etc.) and quickly becoming the consumer standard, the only way to edit your videos recorded in 10-bit on Hit Film Express is to either not record in 10-bit, convert the video using a different app then import, or pay for the upgrade. Other free video editors already offer the ability to work with 10-bit. Hit Film is a bit behind the curve for consumer grade products now offering a powerful option which means they will lose market share to other free products offering the ability to render 10-bit videos. Hit Film is a good product, but I prefer not to pay for a native capability in my camera to be used on a software platform that is becoming the standard.
You can only render for RUclips ticktock with upgrades $$$

DOn't want to really relearn everything from Sony Vegas and Movie Studio. I know where everything is in those, and though they are kludgy as hell, at elast I don't have to relearn it all over again screaming at the ocmptuer. And dark theme means black, not some smudge eraser grey black.
dont like how they made hitfilm a subscripttion service. i would have liked if they atleast gave me the option to pay for a complete license, even if i had to sacrifice the built in asset library
As much as I dislike what HitFilm has become, this is the one thing they still offer. It's under Perpetual Licenses below the subscription prices.
yes, they do still offer the option to "own" it outright.. its the Perpetual License option. .might have to click around to find it because i assume thats not their preferred method.. you only get up to the version they offered when you pay, so no updates.. but, at least you can still use it and dont have subscription fees..

Shouldn’t upgrade to this bullshit...
Especially since it's a downgrade in my opinion. You go from one free version, that doesn't have a watermark, and is a really powerful editor as well, to the new one that still edits like a breeze, but requires the watermark unless you pay for it.
In my opinion, that's the only thing that's a deal breaker for me, the watermark.
