Patience dear friends, so many of your questions will be answered (oil capacity, baffle, subframe, etc.) as this series progresses!
Speed Academy don’t forget proper driveline angles, A+ episode!
People coming through that door during the intro is my new favorite part of this series.
The look on their faces... priceless.
Lol they just stand there 😂
Recommendation during editing. Please level the intro music to the voices. I usually crank the sound to hear you guys talk and then my ears explode once your intro pops, ESPECIALLY when the K240 part pops up.
ahh :) someone else who calls this car "K240". i like "K240SX" myself, but that may be a bit long. I'd have to agree on the sound editing bit
We suggested this on the previous video of this episode aswell, i guess it'll take a while :P
#watchthedecibels
It's K 4 2 0 S X
second episode in a row when someone walks into a shot and then freaks out :DD
Those audio levels are insane
I can't believe I binge watch some of your videos and I love each and everyone of them. Now I have to support you guys on patreon. Keep up the good work guys.
Thank YOU! We really do appreciate the support.
The only 240 I care about on RUclips!!!! Just because it’s Honda powered
Rare bird this...
Crap, this video was missing from my sub box. It showed up in recommended videos, lol.
Nice surgery on the manifold Peter! #1 manifold surgeon, steady hands.
You definitely need to have at least one person walk into the shot from the door in every video for this series. Then, do a compilation video of all their facial expressions.
9:20. Well said young man.
"Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy." Dale Carnegie
I'm sorry he's since passed & I don't know where his creation ended up but it was phenomenal!
Have you thought to put wings on the sump to maintain the capacity
please do this
Please make these videos longer. I could watch him do cutting or welding all day. No need to zip through it, 13 minutes is a tease.
One of my favorite videos so far. Such a sweet build
I love that door. Yall should keep a camera on that door 24/7.
Great video 👍🏻. And pro tip when you cut alu Put your disk first in a old candle The wax wil lubricate the disk 😜
Looking foward to she more vids
Excited to see this happening. Good job guys!
You guys got that BMW motor tilt going in there I like it!
Wish there was a better visual on how you bolted up the intake with both the adapters. I'm doing a similar swap but in an RX8 and there is some confusion in that area for myself. All in all, great little series.
I love this swap my turbo KA is gonna be replaced very soon.
I love this build series. Keep up the good work guys!
Thank you!
Are you guys going to put any baffle in the oil pan?
I hope so too..all that work and then KABOOM...That sump also holds about 30% less oil now, so an oil cooler will add a little more capacity ...
hondatrix and a larger filter with an adapter if needed.
Baddest 240 on the planet
I like how my man came through the door like, "...oh!...um...pardon..."
Can’t wait for the track day.
i love this build in so many ways! god.... id love a nice high revving NA setup, im a S-chassis guy myself but ive always loved honda 4bangers! epic epic epic
Jesus this build is a adapter nightmare. This has to be one of the most complex engine swaps I've ever seen. I bet to tear this thing down you're going to need to use both sides of the socket tray. Every standard and metric size.
CK_32 i don't think so, the car is Japanese, the engine too, the gearbow is german. That's all metric size there. But yeah that's an adapter fest build :D
Lol but the blocks they added to the subframe is what, nothing? The oil pan they are hacking to death? The sub frame the had to cut, beat, and weld back together? But hey you're right, this piece of shit will jusy bolt tight together and hold together on the track.
toto dona yes, meaning I’m sure almost all of those adapters they have are standard sizing not metric like the car and vary in all different sizes of bolts and parts. Trust me I’ve done over 20 engine swaps, I also have a 470hp turbo 350z that has a American turbo kit with adapters and I have to use 50 different sockets to take it apart now. I know from experience adapters and aftermarket parts are a nightmare in the long term.
CK_32 i believe you, i am from France so we almost never see anything in imperial but when we do... I remember looking for that damn socket set that i never use and end by smashing a metric size "good enough fit" on an imperial bolt. It sure is a nightmare for you as there are a lot of euro and import cars in the us. I am happy to not have to buy everything in each type...
Welcome to the realm of trying to fit a FWD engine into a RWD chassis. It requires a ton of work and I think very few people realize how much goes into a swap of this nature.
I would make the oil pan wider for getting some oil capacity back.
A Milwaukee portable band saw would of been the best tool for that kind of cut. Plus your "cutting disk" looked more like a grinding disk.
Was cost the main reason for going with that intake manifold? I thought ITB’s on that build would be awesome!
BullPlop11 They goin FI though, don't believe the hype this car is gonna be turboed watch it happen.
absolutely killing it ! love the intro and outro music
Nice!! I would spend the money on an intake. Seems like you drastically reduced oil capacity. Adding a cooler?
I'm thinking chop off throttle body mount plug the hole. Weld flange on the other end for a better throttle body.
Ahahahahahahaha the look on riley's face when he walked through the door at 1:14
8:07 pete is high with aluminium dust
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
much more interesting to watch the cheaper, more labor intensive way of doing things rather than just bolting on a bunch of parts
That was the goal. We could have made some things much easier by bolting on expensive parts but this is the more cost effective method.
I know vin is the bomb and he has forgot more than I know but have these guys not got a (box-pan folder) he could have made the sump sheet metal in one piece and save on the welding?? Just a thought :)
Yes, u do it in 1 piece.
But more importantly you put a radius in that 90° corner and bend your sheetmetal with the matching radius.
Done a ton of clearance pans and would be mad fun of if we put a welded 90° corner in.
But hey, im just a jackazz who is spectating here.
Im thinkin of doing a RWD K20 on my Ford Probe I converted to RWD back in 1996, & thought goint to you tube to see whats the latest & greatest tech to be see would be of help.
There is a lotbof footage, but not much btw of impressive tech.
Simple tech yes....innovative..
Well...i guess i need to view a bit more video to make that call.
Maybe i should be making videos & posting them after doing this stuff 30 yrs. We were always to busy getting the work done to set up cameras an microphones an lighting & then u gotta hav loud bass music an fancy intro's an beg for money to do this deal???
Yikes...
Better to stay silent i guess,
& leave this high quality video production & high tech fab to the experts...
All kidfing aside, im more impressed w/the video/editing work than the mechanical & fab/welding stuff here.
Nuff said...
How to mount engines at the rear pls do a video in that regard
8:45 Vin listening to the years hottest mixtape
Was a huge mistake to use the s2000's IM.. its small plenum cannot feed the K-swap adequately. Should've gone with the skunk2 IM. I've mounted a Kseries skunk2 ultra race IM on my s2000's F2.4L (stroked Ap2 short block and Ap1 head).. seriously improved airflow and enabled the engine to reach its full potential
" FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT!!!"
You guys should K swap an Em2 civic! Great track car platform.
Welshy how so? I used to own an em2 years ago
THAT "OH SHIT IM IN THEIR SHOT" FACE @ 1:14 LOL
Why not a Dry sump system?
Pietro Facchini. Is this an easy thing to do?
DW411 not the easiest thing to do but it will improve the oil system and can stand a lot of g's
But can be quite expensive
Pietro Facchini well u just answered your question fuck face
Pietro Facchini because money idiot
“WhY NoT a DrY SuMP SyStEm” lmfaoooo it’s a fuckin 200 hp engine that revs to 8k why in the fuck would they do that.
I would of gone Skunk2 because the price of that adapter would of made me sick lol
Yeah seriously, all that work just to have a worse intake that you have to chop up where the skunk2 is going to work without question
I wouldn't say worse intake, I mean the s2000 makes good power with it.
+mason8725 Does a skunk 2 intake not make any more power than a s2000?
Nice This Old House reference!
What kind of dust masks were you wearing?
What about the decreased oil capacity?
Sox4life I just thought the same thing.
No individual throttle bodies?
Hi. what is the thick of manifold intake flange, that You use ?
How did you guys mount the ktuned coolant bypass to the intake manifold adapter and manifold?
Whilst the sump is off the car why not drill/weld a bung for the "future turbo" drain? also won't the reduced capacity of the sump affect the engine?
We still have a bunch of things that need to be sorted with the oil pan but not a bad suggestion at all.
Vibe, is that you? Cisco Ramon?
Nice welding!
This is an awesome build I'm doing a k24 swap in my 96 318ti now I know I can put my bmw 5 speed to my k24 and how to save a shit tone on some other things a
You mother... stole my idea. My thought exactly. I bet there's gonna be a few turbo'd Honda's in Munich clothing now. I'd love 300-450 whp on the cheap but can't give up that BMW exhaust note.
Great work!!
cant wait to see it with a hondata sticker slapped on...pls 8)
@1:15 It looks like Jon Chase, Brand Director at Hoonigan.
Why are you running the getrag gearbox and not the zf?
So dope. Keep up the great work!
What's happened with the s2000? Gone for good?
so many foreplay videos before the startup
150 dollars for a adapter plate that doesn't fit!?! Dude kudos on getting the intake to fit but I'd be asking for a discount from JSP
What do you mean it doesnt fit? The adapter bolts right up, the manifold needs modifying, there's no way around it.
So what are you going to do about oil levels and getting a good reading with the dipstick? External oil cooler I hope for more capacity.
Stay tuned to find out!
Love your channel. I'm local to you guys (toronto). Would def like to check the shop out sometime this summer!
Yo PT, I really like that respirator mask you're using while you were chopping off the excess from the intake manifold. What brand is it? I really like how this build is progressing by the way, keep up the good work and content! :D
That was Vinhs mask. I will ask him about it!
Speed Academy I'd like to know too
www.vogmask.com I think I found it.
If that thing was fifty bucks, I'm sure finding another one if you mess up won't be too much of a problem.
You guys seen to like Matco Tools. Is it your preferred tool brand?
The guys at NV love em hence why we use them. They're certainly really nice.
Pete, you are losing your hair fast. You now officially have a comb over going on.
Nice! I remember all the shit I caught for putting 2k seats in my 240.
My boyfriend did kinda the same thing with his 70 MGB 🐴
I'd kinda like to see that.
BAFFLE! :)
Is there a parts list anywhere I am not seeing?
Yeah wtf
What kind of grinding mask is that? Where can I get one?
Uvex - amzn.to/2G02ITj It's SO much better than safety glasses.
Speed Academy thanx, where did u get the breathing mask part, that's nice the way it hooks over your ears, was it easy to breath in, those little paper masks never fit tight enough to filter anything out
Would be cool if an RB25 could fit in an S2000
How is it $200 when you still have to buy the water neck adapter to make the manifold functional?
RBC manifold is direct fit, makes more power, and is cheaper than that S2000 manifold you made work...
Yes it is but how do you suggest we fit it since it faces the firewall in a RWD config...
@@speedacademy did you guys mock up with an RBC? Just curious. Those runners on the S2000 manifold look a lot longer than the RBC runners.
dont make stupid comments
Grinding aluminum like that is super dangerous and that caveman hahahahah
Someone lock that door or throw a sign up!! Hahaha
Nam the man!
Y'all catch the Asian jokes at 1:46? "Chop chop!" And then followed by Asian trap music 😂 We see you DP 😂
"Got a header that will fit." Yeah thats right Pete, and a motor thats going to have oil starvation.
Do you really think we're going to leave the oil pan like that? Removing a bunch of capacity and thinking thats ok? Give us a bit more credit. We've got lots of work to do yet.
Give you credit? No. Ive seen enough of your guys trash that im just here to laugh. I guess that brand new oil pan that you bought, took an angle grinder to, and weld back together isnt the one you are going to be running? Cause it seemed like that was the one.
Woah man you gotta chill the fuck out. These guys know exactly what they're doing, and even if they don't, it's their build not yours. Watch em do it the way they want, or fuck off.
One love Speed Academy, don't give up !!
Go get some experience because you clearly have none.
How do you get experience if each time you try to do something, there's someone like you crying about it?
how come you guys didnt go with an RBC intake manifold?
Throttlebody would face the firewall
blackmkiv duhhh.. im stupid.
:)
I don't understand this performance parts business. They produce simple parts and always machine them in a fancy way. We try to minimize engraving on the mill because it takes a lot of time. In my business this adapter plate would knocked out of a precision plate by water jet. Threads and countersunk holes would be machined in one go - jobs done!
Can you guys for the love of god stop the bass thumping intros, i like it simple. That shit makes my speakers goes up too high and then i have to lower the volume.
I am not sure, if cutting the oil pan this way (without sloping it down to the bottom) is a good idea. If you will driving the car uphill, this sharp edge will hold considerable mount of oil from returning to the oil pickup.
Who's gonna be the Mystery Guest comin' thru the shop door this week? lel
Good thing the K is a 2.4 it’ll always be a 240
Project Nissan 2.40
if you put wax on the flap disk it will not clog with aluminum, bees wax or candle wax
Good tip!
All this work you might as well prep for turbo to save you the time down the road
If this project holds together after their first tesst and tune on the track I will be absolutely amazed.
Wi Ma shit talk
11:36 shouldn't the "upper deck" in the oil pan be slightly sloped to allow flow?
It actually has a very slight downward motion :)
That sump's unsuitable for a longitudinally mounted engine.
Just let them fail. They know everything, their viewers know nothing. Its hilarious.
It's not said out of hate, but to help. You need side sections welded on to maintain oil levels through lateral G-forces.
Yes, we are all knowing and we know that you seem to have something lodged up your ass.
Correct, we're just working on fitment right now. Baffling and capacity will be addressed in a future episode.
Ok well you seem to know what you're doing & find it appropriate to randomly talk about human body function in a mechanics video. If thinking about men in this way is your first response then I would refer you to the RUclips terms of service for cautionary guidance.
Why not go itb's?
fuck you
BrianGabrintino because money you dipshit
lolz
Because turbo
Man, I’d have returned that intake adapter plate. Why was the fit so poor? Is it not designed to mate the s2000 intake to the K-block?
navdrum001 really nothing you can do about that how is the company supposed to make it work the holes are too close to the s2000 pattern but just not quite right, has nothing to do with the adapter
Dirt4k ahh, gotcha, misunderstood the issue.
Actually, it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land. Lol ;)
Do you know how to party or what!
:D
1:13 do people knock anymore!
that face down angle grinder tho..
OIL CAPACITY ??!?!?!?!?!!?
Never used a flap disc? Wow.
Not one that cuts as good as the Wurth.
Speed Academy Fair enough! Only brand I buy, expensive but we'll worth it, as you've discovered ;-)
Yikes.... not supposed to use abrasive cut-off discs on alloy... its a sure way to have the disc explode.
