I've got all the same features as the 2nd and 3rd sprinklers from very similar sprinklers by Melnor, but for half the price. Melnor 65031 and 65165AMZ Melnor XT Turbo
I thought the same thing. Melnor sprinklers are much cheaper and do everything this does.
I will definitely check those out in a future video
Can't speak to the ones mentioned here, but the Melnor ones will fail if you're leaving out in the sun for any period of time. Cheap plastic gears get pliant with sun and will eventually just spray one direction only until the weather cools down. Probably fine for regular watering if you take them inside, but not ideal if you're watering a reno or overseed.
While at one time each manufacturer made their own models of sprinklers the industry changed and many of the components that comprise modern sprinklers as with many modern goods are modular and used among different brands and parts are sold between different brands to make their own models.
Some Melnor products are sold under other manufacturer’s names and some Melnor’s are made by NAAN/Jain and some are made by Gardena using the same spray heads but different cases or bases to give each brand its own identity.
Some are made by Orbit
Just a tip for free. Here in Australia we use metric sized hoses so when I have 2 sprinklers hooked up together I use a 18mm hose (in the US a 3/4 inch) to the first sprinkler and then run a 12mm (US 1/2 inch) hose to the second sprinkler. That way I can be assured the 2nd sprinkler will get a decent pressure to operate effectively.
Smart!
I have the Aqua Zoom compact and large. Used them continously this June as we had zero rain. Both are worth the $$$ if you do lots of watering. Quality products. The ability to control the width of the spray is a great feature.
That's great to hear, I really liked that one too
That's great to hear!
$60 for a plastic impact sprinkler is crazy even with a 5 year warranty. I have brass rainbirds 20 years old. Now that wide oscillating sprinkler is very nice and well worth the price.
Totally agree the oscillating sprinkler for 50 bucks? Insane.
It's 34$ on Amazon.
Great review, I've had gardena products for 3 years now and I like them especially their retractable hose reels.
Love everything about Gardena stuff (except maybe the prices.) Since I have a freshly seeded lawn they're very handy.
I just finished building the DIY one you told me to make last time! LOL
Thankfully we've had enough rain this month b/c our water bills are through the roof and we don't get a summer rate, so I'm not watering until I figure out how to put a rain barrel and pump in place.
There's a great video idea - how to use a rain barrel to water your yard!
Plastic no matter what type will eventually crack. I remember a sprinkler at my parents house that was very old all metal that spun in a circular motion. It is still alive somewhere intact and ready to go.
So years ago I bought into the whole Gardena quick connect system. But I personally found it to quickly be junk. It didn't last, it leaked and depended on tiny o rings. It was just rubbish. So while not cheap, I ended up switching over to an Eley hose reel with Dramm solid brass quick connects. I also use Dramm sprinklers. I expect this stuff to last a lifetime. Its absolutely solid and consistently works.
What makes these smart? I would assume that smart would mean there is electronic controls or similar. These are adjustable in my opinion.
I think its really smart sprinkler tech, not smart as in internet. The adjustment of the pattern right or left is very unusual and the on off valve with limited flow is pretty cool.
Kids & dogs will love most of those. Kid tested - dog approved.
If you mention gardeana I’m watching instantly
They make some really cool stuff, I hope they bring some of their euro in ground sprinklers here too they look awesome.
😄🤙
@@SilverCymbal can you please try out their micro drip irrigation in one of your later videos? Possibly comparing it to other brands to see how it stands up
Hello - I'm wondering if you were able to confirm (or at least agree) that the sprinklers reach the distance they say they do? Especially the one you described as your favorite (the 3rd one).
I don't think it's made anymore, but there was a sprinkler that had tabs you push in where you could adjust the distance for every few feet. That made it perfect for irregular yards.
The Orbit 360 style models are great cheap alternatives for smaller yards. Been using them for a few years now. I have the Gardena quick release hose system which is outstanding, but don't get the plastic adapter for whatever you want the hose to connect to. They are absolute junk, super fragile but the metal adapters are aces.
Love the videos
I really appreciate that, thank you
My favorite is the $60 model, it reminds me of my childhood summers.
Agreed, it almost look like a Star Trek inspired version of it. not sure what happened too but at the moment its $34 too amzn.to/3O2i9vk so that does make it a lot more appealing at that price
I find the small inner diameter of their quick connects greatly reduce the distance of throw.
Great videos! You are an inspiration for my own diy videos
I appreciate that, thank you
Good stuff 👏🏼👏🏼
Hello. Does the Gardena Pulse Sprinkler comes with an easy connect for the water hose? Also, is the sprinkler loud?
I made my entire 1acre with the OS 140, the underground version of the one presented here. I then used them to get the grass going and saw how much area is missed if you enlarge the area to the max. Compared to a above ground Kaercher I had, it’s complete trash. Too bad I have 20 installed :|
I just stick with the 360 sprinklers from orbit. I have 2 of them for the front yard food forest and they give me the best coverage, and despite having a rectangular yard with 2 circular sprinklers, I only "waste" about 5% of the water coming out where the excess spills onto the street or into my driveway.
The ideal situation is to have a drip irrigation setup, but I simply don't want to put the effort in right now, so Orbit 360s are the go-to.
Great video. Thank you for your time and videos.
I don’t know if it’s just me or what, but these Gardena sprinklers just don’t last for me. I’ve dropped $$ on a couple of their back and forth models a few years ago and they didn’t even last a season of occasional watering. Not frozen, not abused, just stop moving and can’t be unstuck. 😢
When would you aerate your lawn?
My biggest issue is I have low water pressure. 20-25.
I bought a bunch of cheap sprinklers because their output is more restrictive than the more expensive ones
My sun joe is a wish version of the compact, for $12
I will have to check that one out for sure
@SilverCymbal I believe it may have been on clearance but it's almost identical!
Price is high. Good features.
I agree, I am not sure if they changed the price based on feedback but its $34 now: amzn.to/3O2i9vk
Around 60 bucks for a top of the line sprinkler is a fair price considering many people spend twice that much buying sprinklers every few years because of build quality and lack of features. I’ll be honest i never heard of this brand but definitely getting one, i easily spend 15-20 minutes trying to adjust my sprinkler and water pressure so i don’t waste water these look so much better to use and easier to adjust.
Best impulse Spike sprinkler is made by Perrot.
Watering after the wettest Summer ever in New England?😉 I kid...
👍👍
So do you prefer this over your home made version ❓
I still have and use my home made one, and it works well. I love the noise of the old style but some people don't so you could screw one of these heads into my base and get the best of both maybe.
@@SilverCymbal
Thanks for your response and the video. I have a zonal system to where I plug hose into one nozzel and it waters that section of lawn but I like the idea of a timer and the adjustability of the water flow and the pattern of the water flow. And so instead of after 20 min. Of watering and then plugging into another zone
This might be a better option ❓🤷
If i didn't have an irrigation system, I'd pick #3.
I totally agree, that one worked super well
@@SilverCymbalwhich sprinkler is #3
I could maybe be sold on that big sweeper for $60 but no way in hell am I buying an impact for $60
Check our Big league sprinklers a little more pricey but they are the best
What is the point? Sprinklers are meant to spread the water onto the ground, so how can a sprinkler "save" water? If you want to use less water, turn the water off sooner.
you save water by not irrigating area that dont need it...... when you use a sprinkler that has NO adjustment......
Ok
not sure how any of these are "smart". a sprinkler system with a bluetooth/wifi connection and weather delay is definitely better. I personally don't water my lawn, but I use a drip system and claber timer with a rain sensor for irrigation. works pretty well.
I think the smart features are the integrated turn off valve, shape control and even the built in filter but not smart in terms of computer tech, smart sprinkler tech
@@SilverCymbal i would say that is an inventive design, not necessarily "smart". A smart device is an electronic device, generally connected to other devices or networks (taken from wikipedia)
I thought the same thing. “Clever” seems like a better adjective than “smart” in this case
I was expecting them to learn shapes and obstacles to avoid water where it is not wanted. I don't see anything "smart" just expensive plastic.
น้ำพัดใบพัดให้รานหมุน
Could also just not waste time, energy, and water maintaining a weed 👍
ok
Christopher
No sprinklers do sprinkle close to the unit
Vacker "bit"
what?! NO LEDs?! /s
Who knows, that could be next. Maybe a small hydro generator in it for bluetooth
They should be no more than $20
Pricey plastic. Aqua Joe has better products at half the cost if I wanted to go plastic.
These are incredibly overpriced. So many others out there. These are hardly smart. Just typical sprinklers with 100 year old technology (impact sprinklers and rainbow sprinklers) updated with a bit (and more plastic).
What do you recommend that’s similar?
Other than rappers, the other sprinklers are pure JUNK...BREAKING IMMEDIATELY
DO YOUR HOMEWORK
U r obsessed 22 seconds
60$ for one! Hahahaha hell no!!!!
So I am not sure if they changed the price based on feedback but its $34 now: amzn.to/3O2i9vk
